😮 is the one shot you're working on the college au? Because I am so pumped for that 🙌🏼🙏🏽
It is! I've missed the world of college AUs lol. I hope you like it. 😄
Hi there, any possible ETA for a Blowout update? No pressure, I just adore it and miss it and was curious :)
Hi! No pressure felt, I appreciate the message. Sorry to say I think it’ll be another month or so for that last part. I’m trying to finish up this one shot I’ve been working on for forever first, and then I want to update my other WIP because it’s been even longer since I’ve done that. So I need at least a few more weeks to complete the final chapter for Blowout. I’m sorry. :/
Hello! Thank you for writing and sharing Love is. I really love that story, I read it whenever I had a busy work week. Anyway, thank you so much. Have a good weekend.
Hi! No really, thank you so much for reading it and letting me know you enjoyed it. It’s a super long fic so I’m grateful anyone invested the time to finish it. I hope you have a good weekend, too!
I come here, to your door, begging you for a new chapter of TTB.... :'(
Ahhh thank you for caring, I’m sorry I don’t have any news. I’m taking my sweet time reworking a very detailed outline for the last half of the story because the last chapter of TTB is going to be the last Everlark I write, but there’s other things I want to write first so I’m trying to get the timing right. It’ll be updated though, I promise. Thank you for being patient.
writing sprint
Okay, so I’m late reporting. Word count is 441 which sucks BUT I finished a scene I’ve been stuck on and I’m going to keep going until a child wakes up and makes me stop :)
How’d it go for you @knittingkatniss, @everlarkeologist?
I’m so sorry, I fell asleep in my chair like a grandma. I think I got about 100 words in before I thought, ‘I’ll just rest my eyes for a minute.’ Ha.
Tonight I am thankful for terrible New Adult novellas because after reading another dud, I’m finally inspired to write again because even I can do better than that smdh
Hi there, I am super dumb for tumbler so I apologize in advance if I wrote on the wrong place. I just love your stories and would love to read some more, but don't know where to find them. Could you direct me to where I can read them? Thanks, L
Hi L! Most of my THG stories are on Ao3. My page is here. Anything on ff-net is cross-posted to Ao3 since I don’t put anything on FF-net only. There’s some stuff that’s only on tumblr, and unfortunately I was never very smart about tagging appropriately so I can’t link you to everything, but maybe someday I can throw all of it on Ao3 so it’s safe and neatly in one place, That’s something I always wanted to do anyhow. :)
Hi, so I was wondering when will you be updating Blowout? I'm really excited to read the next chapter and it's been a while since you last updated, so I hope it's soon. But no pressure or anything :)
Hi! Thank you for your excitement. Unfortunately I think it’s going to be awhile for an update, realistically speaking. I’m just not feeling any inspiration now to write and I’m in a rut where I feel very meh about my writing in general at the moment -thanks, anon-, so I’m just taking it easy and enjoying other projects with my free time (I’m super into refinishing furniture right now). I’d like to give you an estimate or a promise to finish, but I don’t think I can do that with 100% certainty. But thank you for the message. Hopefully I’ll get some mojo back some day.
Resolutions
Summary: When Katniss and Gale agree to spend Christmas with Prim and her family, they keep their romantic troubles hidden for her sister’s sake. But when the presence of Prim’s brother-in-law, Peeta, causes more tension, Katniss learns they aren’t the only ones keeping secrets.
An Everlark fic a year in the making.>Thank you so much to @deinde-prandium, @lvfics and @knittingkatniss for your beta help, and to @kleeklutch for helping me brainstorm summaries. :)
Happy holidays, everyone!
“Ughhh.”
I turn to face Gale. “What?”
“You didn’t tell me he would be here.“ He waves a thumb at the gray SUV in the driveway.
I give him a scowl and reach for the doorbell. ”He is Prim’s brother-in-law, Gale. And I believe I told you she was hosting both sides of the family tonight.“
“I guess I didn’t think that through when I agreed to do this.” He lets out a huge sigh and scuffs his feet on the stoop. “Why couldn’t we just have Christmas Eve with my family like we always do? It’s tradition.”
For a man in his mid-thirties, Gale Hawthorne can do an uncanny impression of a five-year-old.
I fold my arms across my chest and level him with the sternest expression possible. “We’ve already gone over this, Gale. Prim has to work at the hospital tomorrow night, so she asked if we could do Christmas Eve instead. I think you can handle a change to your routine this one time.”
He mimics my posture and scowls right back. “Yes, I can handle change, Katniss. I just don’t see why we have to celebrate with the-”
“Merry Christmas!” Prim holds the door open, her cheerful grin fading as she studies the standoff before her. “Well, um… you guys want to come in? We’ve got punch! And Peeta brought cookies!”
“Great,” Gale grumbles sarcastically as he shuffles past her into the house.
I drop my arms to my sides and sigh. Prim gives me a sympathetic smile before pulling me into a hug. “Fighting again?” she whispers into my ear.
I shrug and squeeze her tightly. “What else is new?”
She throws an arm around my waist and guides me into the house, closing the door behind us. “Aw, he’ll get over it soon enough. It’s Christmas!” she insists.
“Sure,” I agree, pasting a smile on for her sake.
If only she knew. But there’s no sense in ruining my sister’s holiday with my problems.
All I Want for Christmas
Christmas fluff. Katniss and Peeta meet on Christmas Eve during their hunt for the same toy.
“That’ll be $85.07,” chirped the sales clerk.
Peeta swiped his credit card, still in disbelief that he had finally, finally, gotten his hands on the hottest toy of the Christmas season. After two weeks, fifteen stores, countless phone calls, and hours spent online, the Princess Gwendolyn doll was finally his.
And tomorrow it would be his niece’s.
“No!” a desperate voice sounded behind him. He turned to find a pretty brunette rushing toward him, her eyes fixed on the glittery purple box currently being bagged by the sales clerk. “Please tell me there’s another one in the back with my name on it.”
“I’m sorry, ma’am. We haven’t had one in almost three weeks. This one was recently returned,” the clerk said.
“I know,” the brunette replied. “Cressida called me. She said she’d put it aside for me.”
The clerk’s face fell. “I’m sorry. I put it aside for Mr. Mellark. I didn’t know Cressida was holding it for someone else.”
I hink you should try to publish some ofyour works. 'Love is', specially. I don't know what you do for a living in real life, but I just can't stand to see all those shittybooks selling at bookstores and then there's you who is not getting any money out of your wonderful works. If you change the names -just that- you can totally publish. I can't tell you how many times I've read most of your works ("157 days" & "FiveStages"? They kill me every time). I hope to read Love Is as a book soon :)
Thank you for such a wonderful compliment. I can’t imagine ever being paid to write though, unless it’s science writing. Fiction is just something I do for myself and for fun, and I like keeping it that way. Just being able to share my stories with others who have the same love for the characters is payment enough, tbh. And it’s less stressful that way, because if someone doesn’t like it, at least they didn’t lose any money over it, lol. I get so annoyed when a book I bought is a bust. I’d hate to have to worry that I was ever disappointing someone in the same way, and it’d probably suck all the enjoyment right out of writing for me.
I really appreciate your confidence in me, though. Messages like this make my day brighter. Hopefully I can get something new out soonish as a thank you and maybe you’ll like that too (and if not, at least it was free! haha)
Big hugs to you.
*GASPS* WHERE'S THAT COLLEGE AU YOU MENTIONED IN THE ASK?! :P (I love your writing, btw! Hoping for a Thicker Than Blood update before next year, so I'm sending telephatic inspiration for it!)
Aww, thank you! I just need free time now too, lol. That college au is still in progress, but I’m really going to try to get that posted before the new year, and then TTB will be what I focus on right after that.
when will you finish lullaby?
someday for sure, but I can’t give you a time or even a rough estimate right now, I’m sorry.
Festivus
n. An alternative to the crass commercialization of Christmas, typically celebrated on December 23. It involves The Airing of Grievances (telling your family and friends all the ways they have disappointed you during the year) and does not end until the Feats of Strength (pinning the head of the family) are accomplished. A plain, metal pole is used in lieu of a Christmas tree, because decorations (such as tinsel) is distracting from the true meaning of the holiday (x)
I just want to point out how important it is that Katniss and Peeta’s son is shown laughing and joking around in Mockingjay Part 2’s epilogue. This child is carefree and happy, and clearly adores his father. It’s clear that this child comes from a happy home.
One of the biggest misinterpretations that people take away from Collins’ novel is that Katniss is too depressed in the epilogue to enjoy her life at all– which is, of course, absurd, and means the reader would have to entirely overlook the fact that she explicitly states that her children bring her joy. Some readers even state that they would’ve preferred that she’d died as opposed to being depressed for the rest of her life. This is a dangerous and damaging way of thinking, and suggests that people suffering from mental disorders cannot also have fulfilling lives, raise normal families, be “complete” human beings. The movie epilogue completely contradicts this. It makes the important statement that people with mental illness can not only become parents, but can become good parents to happy, healthy children.
