When you get this, head s…straight…straight to the high school and call me. I’m…I’m on my way, now. They’re having…having everyone meet in the parking lot back by the field. It’s…It’s bad Sammy…It’s really bad.”

“Was it really necessary to keep Sam in the dark?” Dean asked, arms crossed as you pulled yourself to your feet in the water. You were still under the guidance of a physical therapist, but he stayed quiet. You knew what you were doing by that stage, and he wasn’t very familiar with your case. Your usual was busy, so you took what you could.
A/N: So, I was commissioned for this, and one more piece to this story. I ended up looking into PT more, more into service dogs, etc. It shows up more in the next piece, but there’s definitely some relevant stuff included here.
I didn’t go too deep into the time frame everything is taking place in, because healing is such a diverse thing. As far as I could find, the majority of it takes place within a year of a severe spinal injury. After a year, you’re generally as well off as you’re going to be. So, this takes place within that time frame.

You hummed along to the music that played from the garage, hoping that it would distract you enough to not focus on the feeling of your nerves slowly coming back to life. It was unpleasant at the best of times. Unbearable at the worst.
