I also have 2 appts this week (and many more the following weeks) and bc I can't drive to those I'll need funds for lyfts there and back.

Our power and gas bills are also past due and so is my phone bill payment arrangement. Please help!

I'm still not at goal for reinstating insurance but now there's a more pressing issue.

Less than 24hrs ago we learnt my in-laws haven't been able to pay their card since the fire took their house, and Grandma, last Nov 2nd.

They didn't want to worry us and so now it has piled up lots of interests.

Our proof post has a more detailed breakdown of the expenses we need to cover, like my meds which come down 50% on Mondays from $254 to $127, or my glasses $75 so I can do things or go out without help.

But right now we need urgent help to pay my in-laws debt.

They used to pay themselves but they lost their pension and we're still figuring out how to get it back.

It would be ideal to pay the whole $430 but anything helps ease the debt.

keep in mind one of these soldiers has publicly advocated for the death of Muslim children, claiming that a 2 month old baby is an imminent threat. he has fully said that the IDF targets these children. not only has Concordia University been shutting down Muslim events on campus for no justifiable reason, they have decided to welcome terrorists onto their campus DESPITE their student population’s concerns. this is one of the most appalling actions i’ve seen a university take, especially considering the massacres that have impacted the families of Palestinian students at Concordia

I voted wrong, I didn't read through to the end, I thought it was "which one is the worst" and not "which one would you eat." I have had many of these, and many of them are very tasty.

Funeral potatoes are scalloped potatoes--basically potato slices in a creamy cheese sauce. Artery clogging but so, so good.

Frito Pie is basically a Mexican casserole. (Corn chips, ground beef with taco seasoning, shredded cheese, chopped tomatoes/onions/peppers, sour cream, salsa, etc.) It's not as good as authentic Mexican food, but it's still pretty good. And the whole reason to serve it in the chip bag is so it's portable--in rural North Dakota they serve it at concession stands and the like. It's hot, it's filling, it tastes good, and it's probably the only option at the stand that involves actual vegetables. Tasty, nutritious, easily portable.

Scrapple: this one's gross. Pork scraps and trimmings (you probably don't want to ask exactly what) mixed with cornmeal and baked into a loaf, then sliced and fried.

Jiggs Dinner: Beef and a lot of root vegetables boiled together. Not my favorite method of preparation, I prefer a roast, but still tastes decent and nutritious.

Horseshoe sandwich: an open-faced sandwich with toasted bread, hamburger, fries, and a cheese sauce. I've never had this one, but the ingredients are all things that would pair well, so I'd be happy to eat it.

Goetta: the Cincinatti version of scrapple. Never seen it in person, presumably just as gross as Scrapple.

Garbage plate: I have never heard this name for it, but it's basically the same thing as going to a pot luck and piling your plate high with the good stuff. Home fries, macaroni salad, baked beans, and meat. I haven't had the actual menu version they serve in the restaurant that made it famous, but I've made versions at many a potluck. Tasty.

Rappie pie: never heard of this one, but upon googling it seems to be a sort of casserole with potatoes, meat, and onions, and sounds pretty tasty.

I have issues with this poll. The vast majority of these foods are both a) tasty and b) comprised of things that most people eat and which go well together. (Apart from the scrapple and goetta.) These foods are not bad.

What they are is associated with middle class and working class people.

Apart from the scrapple and goetta, the only reason for calling them "bad" is snobbery. They are not high cuisine, and never will be. But they're tasty and filling.

I mean, if you wanted bad food, or gross food, there's plenty of it in America! Rocky Mountain Oysters! Snickers Salad! Glorified Rice! I could make quite a list of things most people wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole, and which only people who have grown up eating would ever dream of putting in their mouths (and not even all of them). This is not that.

Whenever you see folks saying Americans can take a joke, I want people to have this essay projected into your mindscape
