Turtle-duck Date Night
This is my piece for the upcoming The Legend of Korra / Avatar: The Last Airbender Tribute Exhibition at Gallery Nucleus, opening this Saturday, March 7th, 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Mike and I will be there doing a signing for the first half of the reception (there are a limited number of spots in the signing line, but I’m not sure how they are working that), and hanging out for the rest. I think there will be a raffle, and plenty of cool stuff to purchase. A bunch of the crew members from the production will be there too (hopefully including some ATLA folks), so it is going to be a fun family reunion for us. I can’t wait to see all of the incredible artwork.
As for this piece, I used and modified Emily Tetri's production painting of Harmony Tower (designed by Lee Jung-Su). Otherwise, I drew and painted the rest of it. I based the turtle-duck boats on the charming swan boats I saw while visiting Ueno Park in Tokyo. Gallery Nucleus will be selling the above artwork as an exclusive print, in a limited edition of 100, to be released on opening night (and I’m pretty sure I’ll be signing them). I will be donating 100% of my share of the proceeds to an LGBTQ suicide prevention hotline.
I hope to see you Saturday! Get there early, as the lines for these Gallery Nucleus openings wrap all the way around a city block. If you can’t make it to the opening, the show will be hanging for two weeks. There is an event being planned for the closing as well. More on that later.

En France, les médias condamnent unanimement les violences sexistes (violence conjugale, viol, harcèlement, etc). Pourtant la façon dont ils traitent les violences faites aux femmes contribue souvent à atténuer voir à effacer complètement le caractère violent et criminel des préjudices commis. En 2015, il est temps que les médias montrent l’exemple et se montrent responsables dans la façon de traiter ces violences.
En Espagne une charte des bonnes pratique sur la façon de traiter les violences faites aux femmes a été mise en place dès 2001 (soit il y a 14 ans). Au sortir du procès DSK dont le traitement médiatique a été désastreux et à l’approche de la journée internationale des droits de la femme, il est temps de faire changer les choses.
Les médias ont un impact sur l’opinion public et sur la société, il est important qu’ils changent radicalement la façon de traiter les faits concernant des violences sexistes afin de ne plus banaliser ces violences et contribuer à lutter contre la culture du viol qui rend ces violences plus acceptables.
Je lance donc un appel aux journalistes et aux médias, afin qu’ils décident d’adopter une charte de bonnes pratiques journalistiques sur le traitement des violences sexistes.

Sept femmes lesbiennes témoignent de difficultés rencontrées face à des professionnel.le.s de la gynécologie.
Après la diffusion du témoignage d’Anne-Sophie face à une interne en gynécologie aux compétences douteuses, nous avons lancé un appel à témoins pour donner la parole à d’autres femmes ayant rencontré des difficultés similaires face à des praticien.ne.s censé.e.s être à même d’accueillir toutes les femmes, quelle que soit leur orientation sexuelle.
Pour rappel, afin de limiter ce type de problèmes, un annuaire des gynécologues, médecins généralistes et sages-femmes respectant les bisexuelles, les lesbiennes et les personnes trans’ a été élaboré par les responsables du site Gynandco.
