This notion of a single parent was foreign to Meredith. Even for Lombaxes from smaller families, they had the backing of an entire community with their children.    As he listened to her answer, he nods in quiet thought. He had grown up as a single child with no one really but himself and his father. They really only had each other, for the longest time. It seemed he and Meredith had grown up quite differently.

Walking to the dead animal, Talwyn quietly decided she could make use of some of it for her rations. Unsheathing a knife, she began cutting into its flesh for parts she knew were edible.

"But, I mean, I guess it could've been worse for you. Like, your ship could've gotten intercepted by imperial guards. You just might go home with the fur on your back yet."

   Space pirates... imperial guards... he certainly wasn't in Bellcity anymore. Though these terms weren't unknown to him, they usually weren't a concern where he came from.

   Buster remains close to the other for a sense of security in this moment, but still gives her space as she makes work on the beast. He decides not to watch.

She couldn't help but stop in her tracks when she felt his hand grabbing her arm. Even in a panic he felt gentle, soft... Too nice, too good for her.... She couldn't even LOOK at him, for fear of tears coming to her eyes. She was a BIG GIRL and she didn't CRY.

"I'm sorry, Buster," she replied with, her voice low, strong, as if trying to hold back emotion and she shoved her arm away from him, grasping at the strap of her bag as if it was a life vest and marched away.

I'm sorry, Buster. You deserve so much better than me.

   This time, he didn't dare reach out to her again. Buster just stood there with his hands lifted up at his sides in front of him, low and hesitant. Large ears drooped as he watched Peg march away, his mind whirling with emotion. His eyes were wide and sad, and he watched her until he couldn't see her anymore.

   And then he stared at the ground in his disbelief. Did Peg just... end things between them -- just like that? With his heart breaking as reality sets in, he wonders what he had possibly done wrong to have her break up with him.

   What could he do now?
