they're not MEANT to have longevity. they're meant to be exciting for 5 minutes and then forgettable as soon as netflix releases their next bingeable dopamine source, which you're then also supposed to forget in favor of the next thing. streaming services aren't trying to make cult classics or beloved cultural artifacts, they're trying to sell you a new show each month so you don't cancel your subscription. it's the TV equivalent of fast fashion.

Which is unsustainable as fuck because if you want me to not cancel my subscription, release the series week to week to keep me engaged, so that I can't watch your few good projects in one weekend.

I also would like to point out that Netflix isn’t a need, it’s a want. If they want people to stay invested, they need to stop cancelling shows. Especially with the economy being a dumpster fire. I got rid of Netflix to save money because it’s no longer worth it
