A little over a week ago we had to say goodbye to my sweet Zak.. It broke my heart and it's still raw, I still find it hard to look at photos or videos of him without welling up. He gave me purpose during a dark time in my life and for that, I'll always be grateful..

Life update.. It's been a hot minute since I've posted anything on here, and that will continue to be the case for the foreseeable future. I've lost all interest in photography and social media, I even deleted my ig.. and to add insult to injury, my new(1 year old and 2 months out of warrenty) laptop has given up the ghost, so even if I wanted to take photos, I have no way of editing them 😕.. Don't buy a Lenovo laptop!

I heard that a few of you sent/posted me birthday wishes, and I just want to thank those that did, I really do appreciate it 💕

I'll still be helping out with the Abstract Challenge, so I'll still be around..

I hope ya'll are doing well.. See you when I see you..

Abstract Challenge 62 - September 2022

"Negative Space in black and white"

Empty space is not necessarily what we would call "negative space". Of course, negative space is empty space. But "negative space" is a vital part of the composition of the photo. It is purposely chosen to let the "positive space" (the main subject) of a photo stand out. Other than sheer empty space, which is just space without image information, "negative space" is what actually _makes_ the photo.

"Negative space" is very often found in minimalist photography. And it is also found in YOUR photos for this month's abstract challenge. If you decide to take part in it, that is.

OH! And this challenge is not only about "negative space", we also want to see black and white images to strip the photo of even more information and get it to its bare essentials.

Are you up to this challenge?

Above you see three examples by our blog's members. As always, you can find more inspiration in our archives. If you want us to consider your photo (or set) simply post it to your blog and use the tag “abstract-challenge” as one of the first five tags so that we can find it. If you prefer to, you can also submit your photo to @abstract-challenge. All the past challenges are still running, of course, so if you have something for them, don’t hesitate to share them as well.

Happy shooting!

I've been trying something new, as I have been known to do 😉. I ran across some videos by Trudy Kepke, Art Through A Lens on the YouTubes.. She uses textures and colour to transform ordinary images into works of art.. I am by no means saying that is what this is, but it was really fun to create, and since I have no drive to pick up my camera, this is a great way to be creative.. This image was taken back in 2018 on a trip to London..
