The Orc Prints/Calendar Project Updates

Update 12-16-24
Project:
• I am still struggling to flatten my work ^_^; • The first wave of prints will be designed BUNDLE style • Affordable smaller prints for ease of purchase/dispersion • A PO BOX has been arranged for this purpose, we're also looking into Kickstarter (or a similar platform) • 2nd wave of prints will be larger art prints on quality paper
Here's what I need you to know:
Painted Orcs are on the top? Unpainted paper is on the bottom. When I say "I'm building an army" I'm dead serious. This is a book project. It's a book. This is going to be a book. I can not be stopped.
Personal:
• I'm taking off Social Media until January 2025 starting today* • This is a lot I am overwhelmed this is a lot I am overwhelmed • I wish I could've had all this ready for The Holidays thank you for being so patient with me <3
Update 1-8-25 Good News Bad News
The Good News
I can effectively mount and photograph my paintings using the materials (magnets!) I already own. (Might end up using tape tho.)
The Bad News
I spent a long time using an iron to flatten this paper and I'm feeling very frustrated. Consumed three different tutorials. Had a tantrum. I may have permanently creased this particular painting in the process.
And you can see it—plain as day—it just isn't flat. It just isn't.
Moving Forward
I'm going to stop agonizing over the paintings being "perfect" and attempt one final home brewed method. I think getting two large masonite boards, wetting the paper, and putting significant weight atop them for 48-72 hours should do the trick. If they are "good enough" then I will be very pleased.
Update 1-10-25 S U C C E S S ! ! !
I have flattened the "1st Gen Orc Paintings!" We will now proceed to photography, and then art print production!
Here's how it was done!
Update 1-20-25 Principal photography complete.
Now we find a printer, and here's what I learned:
Update 3-10-25
I have not made progress on this project and it feels awful. What happened was I found local printers from marginalized communities and asked for quotes. And when I never heard back from any of them my momentum collapsed and I spiraled down into extreme executive dysfunction, wherein every time I even thought about it I felt like a failure. Literally I just need to make phone calls. Because I STILL want to work with the printers I selected, and I think they just need to be called(?) Wish I had better news I just didn't want to leave people in the dark.
I WILL produce prints of these before April.
AS ABOVE AND SO BELOW.
