Gloves = thigh high stockings

Solution: mittens

Sorry but a man stumbling in from the cold and removing a clunky, snow-covered mitten with his teeth only to reveal the perfectly sculpted hand underneath is not a solution to this problem

Y'all realize literally NONE of this is doing anything but reinforcing the hands = tits comparison, right.

I have no idea what’s going on or why this is on my feed but I agree with everything.

Tbh, I think if you read an mxtx novel with the expectation that the story’s hero is meant to learn some valuable lesson that fundamentally changes their character and views on life, then you are reading her books wrong. There’s not a single mxtx protag (currently) in existence who changes by the end of the story. It’s the world they live in that is changed because of their actions:

—Shen Yuan’s Shen Qingqiu transforms a toxic masculinity fantasy into a queer romance in which the unhappy stallion protagonist with a harem in the 100s is given his monogamous happy ending with a husband he actually loves and values with reciprocity. They fuck off to their forever honeymoon after exposing the corruptness of the cultivation world that ruined Luo Binghe’s life to begin with, and all of this was only possibly because Shen Yuan was just a genuinely nice fucking person. The world lives to see another day and a fuckton of people who died (or didn’t even get to exist) in the original stallion novel get to live long, more fulfilled lives in Shen Yuan’s revision.

—Wei Wuxian is killed for sticking up for a condemned clan, is resurrected against his will, and still stands by his actions in his first life while protecting those that continued to wrongfully condemn him. As a reward, the corpses of the people he died protecting save him and his loved ones (and the rest of the bystanders who killed them), he bags himself the most perfect and perfectly matched man in the cultivation world, and he continues to help others and do what he wants to the ire of the cultivation world who are now too embarrassed to fight him. The younger generation look to him as a beloved teacher, protector, and role model to aspire towards.

—Xie Lian rebelled against hierarchy as a beloved prince of a prospering kingdom, then as a beloved god against the older gods, then as a reviled scrap gods against the then most popular gods of the present day. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it and to never hold resentment even if that kindness blew up in his face (and it often did). He gets to marry the man (ghost) who has seen him at his best and absolute worst and chooses him unconditionally, something no one else has ever done before. At the end of the novel, he is the god that all the other gods look to for guidance and strength.

None of these stories humble these characters for being good people. Even when their morally righteous actions net them unimaginably terrible results, even when they falter in the face of their failures, they ultimately remain true to their goodness. And none of the books humble them for that, because being good is not a character flaw. So in short: please stop talking about how mxtx protags “needed” to learn valuable lessons to “be good people” when they were already good people from the very beginning. These stories are not about how the world changes people but how genuinely good people can change the world just by actively being kind even with no benefit to themselves and especially if that kindness leads to detriment.

This is because people are used to the "hero's journey" thing that's so prevalent in western culture. Some cultures value "not becoming a horrible person despite adversity" and "this protagonist is cool because they bring disparate people together for the common good," a trait shared by all these characters and people might find familiar from a lot of anime series.

“Lan Zhaaaaaan!!! Look at me, look at me!!”

Lan Wangji steadfastly ignores Wei Wuxian who gives a big pout.

“Look at meeeeee!!!!”

Lan Wangji give a long, suffering sigh and turns to look at Wei Wuxian who grins and babbles about the adventures he went on throughout the day, despite his full day of classes. Lan Wangji waited for a moment and then said, “Continue your work.”

“But Lan Zhaaaan, my hands are about to fall off!! Can’t you show me some mercy, gege?”

Lan Wangji sighed. He was so ridiculous.

Lan Wangji liked him all the same.

[Huh.]

Lan Wangji twitched but went back to his work. He completely forgot about that voice in his head.

[Hey, Lan Wangji.]

What.

[Oh, don’t look so annoyed. I never asked to be in this situation!]

Lan Wangji schooled his face back to impassiveness as he remembered the night hunt he went on recently. It had been a relatively simple hunt, until the yaogui had escaped from its bindings and landed an attack on one of the senior disciples who had joined him that day. The attack was not fatal, but due to the nature of the yaogui’s power, had separated the disciple’s soul from his body. A soul that accidentally crashed into Lan Wangji and has been since possessing him. They didn’t try to get them separated but the concluded it would take time to separate them.

[Anyway, so. You like the kid, huh?]

Lan Wangji stayed silent despite the soul’s - Lan Lifang’s - pestering. He was distracted but for a few moments. It was enough time, however, for Wei Wuxian to pull a prank on Lan Wangji and illusory butterflies flooded his vision.

“Wei Wuxian!” Lan Wangji seethed.

Wei Wuxian laughed uproariously. “I finally got you to snap! Hahahahaha!!!”

[Wait a moment.] Lan Lifang said. [Wait a moment.]

But Lan Wangji could not hear him. He was too busy pushing Wei Wuxian out of the library.

In hindsight, he probably should have paid attention.

………..

A couple days later, Wei Wuxian was up to his antics yet again and Lan Wangji had about enough when Lan Lifang suddenly overtook his body.

[What do you think you’re doing??] Lan Wangji hissed.

Oh, be quiet, cousin. I’m getting you a lover.

[What???]

“Wei Wuxian, why do you tease me so?” He asked with Lan Wangji’s voice.

“Huh, because it’s so interesting to see your reactions of course!”

“You’ve gotten enough reactions from me. Why continue?”

“I, uhh, I don’t know? I just want you to keep showing me more sides to yourself!”

“Why?”

“Because I want to be your friend!”

Lan Lifang tilted his head to the side. “Then why does your behavior say something different?”

“H-Huh? What do you—”

“You’re always pushing my buttons. But I’ve never seen you do that with others. Is it because I’m quieter? Or….” Lan Lifang stared intensely at Wei Wuxian. “Because you like me that way?”

And to both Lan Wangji and Lan Lifang’s surprise, Wei Wuxian blushed a bright red.

“W-What are you talking about! Of course I like you!”

“I meant the way lovers like one another.” Lan Lifang sent a quick apology to Lan Wangji. “The way I like you.” Then he returned control to Lan Wangji.

You coward!!!!! Lan Wangji cursed in his mind.

[Good luck, cousin.]

.

.

.

In the end, it all worked out wonderfully. Lan Wangji managed to stammer his way through a proper confession (with guidance and encouragement from Lan Lifang) and was shocked to see his feelings were returned.

How did you know?

[Hmm?]

How did you know he’d return my feelings?

[It’s simple. Wei Wuxian’s behavior is so similar to when boys pull the pigtails of a girl he likes. He always wanted your attention on him whether it be good or bad. And….] He trailed off.

And?

[I’ve seen him staring at your muscles.]

…Ah.

Out of curiosity, during a sparring session, where it was acceptable for Lan disciples to dress lightly, Lan Wangji openly flexed his muscles when Wei Wuxian came up to bother him. He watched as Wei Wuxian’s words stuttered to a halt as he stared, open-mouthed, at Lan Wangji’s biceps.

Huh. It seemed what his cousin said was true. Lan Wangji would thank him later for bagging him the love of his life.

After he throttled him of course.

Just gonna throw a few prompts around tumblr to see what sticks.

Jiang Cheng fails a timetravel fix-it, it results in Wei Wuxian pulling a MianMian AU

Jiang Wanyin goes missing from Cloud Recesses a few weeks after Wei Wuxian was sent back to Lotus Pier.

Madam Yu irrationally banishes Wei Wuxian for failing to protect Jiang Wanyin despite him not being there.

Rogue Cultivator Wei Wuxian goes investigating to find Jiang Cheng and discovers him alive and well but deaged to a small child with memory loss.

Now Wei Wuxian could return to Lotus Pier... But Jiang Cheng was never fully appreciated there and he's such a cute tot now. Also Wei Wuxian is wary of the unreasonable expectations that young Jiang Cheng would be burdened with to 'do it right this time' by Madam Yu.

So Wei Wuxian gets his dream cottage and farm early and raises Jiang Cheng (renaming him as well because its a new start) again far away from said toxic environment with all the unconditional love and support he should have gotten growing up.

Prioritising parenting over night hunting (because he remembers being orphaned on the streets) Wei Wuxian sits out the Sunshot Campaign completely(to the extent of purposely ignoring all cultivation world news), The Sunshot Campaign lasts long enough that without Wei Wuxian all the sects are in ruins at the end of it.

Years later Jiang Cheng encounters something on a night hunt that restores his memory and the reason he was deaged in the first place. Jiang Cheng had travelled back in time to 'fix' things (funnily enough removing Wei Wuxian from the Jiang before he could antagonise Wen Chao) but the clash of his original core and the transplanted core sent him into a Qi Deviation that de-aged him.

16 years after he was de-aged Jiang Cheng investigates the changed world outside of his home and things are to put it lightly, so much worse.

Lotus Pier is basically gone, Madam Yu is missing her right hand, Yanli is grieving over dead Jin Zixuan. Rebuilding Lotus Pier is impossible because Madam Yu has zero support because of her behaviour and Yanli is basically a grieving ghost.

Lan WangJi is still in a coma from fighting the Xanwu of Slaughter 16ish years ago.

Jin Guangyao is Sect Leader Jin through lack of better option, he very much enjoyed giving Madam Jin the boot from Koi Tower.

All the great sects have been reduced to minor sects with little chance of ever rising again.

Jiang Cheng has no idea how to fix this mess, but he's going to need Wei Wuxian's help.

This. This is an amazing idea.

...........Oops. I think I might've accidentally pressed post. Eh-he.

Also, I was a lot nicer on Wei Wuxian since I could have had Madam Yu whip him before kicking him out. Let's just say that Madam Yu was too distraught or grieved to think about dealing with Wei Wuxian like that, okay?

_____________________________

It happened a few years after Wei Wuxian’s death. Jiang Cheng had been drowning in his sorrows and had had enough of this. ENough of being alone, enough of missing his parents, his sister, his....his brother. He hated this feeling of guilt over leading the siege, over not doing enough to make everything right.

And Wei Wuxian’s notes contained just the thing.

Time travel.

It would be risky. If he failed, he would lose his core. But what hasn’t Jiang Cheng lost already?

Laying down the prepared array, he took a deep breath and poured his spiritual energy in. The array lit up and Jiang Cheng felt himself being sucked in.

.

.

Pain.

All he could feel was pain. Sharp and constant and crushing.

Everything went black.

Run Rabbit Run Rabbit AU

A-Yuan accidentally triggers a experimental talisman near the blood pool and is transformed into a bunny as witnessed by Wei Wuxian. It's easily reversed but Wei Wuxian realises the talisman is reusable and has a Idea.

A month later as the cultivation world panics over the disappearance of Wei Wuxian and the Wen Remnants, on a totally unrelated note Lan Wangji is puzzling over the sudden appearance of 30ish raggedy half starved Bunnies in the Gusa back hills.

Because let's be honest those fluffballs are spoilt rotten and live better lives than the Wen Remnants and the Wen Remnants deserve a bit of spoiling.

Lan Wangji decidedly refuses to exorcise the Fierce Corpse Bunny because its harmless and a timid sweetie, also they're rabbits. It's Lan Wangji's opinion that If a fluffy bunny comes back to life and tries to kill you then clearly you deserve anything and everything that's coming to you.

Wei Wuxian probably reveals himself at some point to Lan Wangji, probably because Lan Wangji confesses his love for the missing Wei Wuxian in front of bunny Wei Wuxian who drops the transformation out of shock.

Takes place after Lan Wangji's visit to Yiling.

____________________________

Wen Qing was going to bury him six feet under once she found out what he’d done. Not to say that it was his fault! He was trying out some new talismans and A’ Yuan just happened to come into his cave. Now normally, Wei Wuxian would drop everything to go play with his previous radish but he was so close to finishing his idea that he gave A’ Yuan some random paper to draw on to keep him busy.

“Ow!” A’ Yuan cried as his finger was pricked against a sharp rock. Wei Wuxian watched as his blood dropped onto a talisman that had been stuck to the back of the paper and activate.

“Shit! A’ Yuan!!” Wei Wuxian scrambled to try and stop the talisman but it was too late.

When the glow from the talisman cleared. A’ Yuan was nowhere to be found. However…..a bunny took his place.

Wei Wuxian blinked. “A’ Yuan?” He asked slowly.

The bunny nodded.

Wei Wuxian sat slowly down and brought the bunny A’ Yuan to his lap. He needed to process for a bit.

He picked up the talisman that had just activated and quickly wrote down the design of it.

Animal transformation.

How had he not thought of this before?! With this, the Wens could escape from this place and be safe! Cause no one would think to look for bunnies. But…where could they go? There had to be a place that they could survive in. Bunnies were prey animals so they were often hunted by bigger predators.

Suddenly, a voice rang in his head. Pets are forbidden.

Gusu.

If they went there, where animals were scarce, then maybe….they could survive.

It was a gamble. But they were living on borrowed time anyways.

Wen Qing walked into the cave just as a plan cemented in his mind. She looked around and seemed like she was about to scold him when he sprung the plan on her.

She was quiet for a bit, then asked two things.

One, if Wen Ning could be transformed. And two, where was A’ Yuan?

To the first question, Wei Wuxian called Wen Ning right away and it worked pretty well. To the second, he wrote a reversing talisman placed it on both Wen Ning and A’ Yuan and hid behind Wen Ning to avoid the needles.

Wen Qing yelled at him for being careless with his talismans but agreed to bring the plan up with the others.

“And make sure to improve the talisman do we could choose when to become human or bunny. It’ll be difficult to have one of us constantly stay human in order to write up the reversing talismans.”

Wei Wuxian agreed - but only for the reversing to be done by him, Wen Qing, and Wen Ning. It was safer that way. - and got right to work.

……………………

Three days later, Wei Wuxian bought new robes to disguise himself and brought the Wen remnants turned bunnies to Gusu. It was easy enough to break through their wards and transport the bunnies every so often as he couldn’t take all of them in one go. It took a few weeks to get them all transferred but it was done. Luckily, it seemed like there was already a bunny warren near Lan Wangji’s house.

With his notes and inventions safely buried underneath Lan Wangji’s house, Wei Wuxian turned himself into a bunny and happily hopped around his new home.

………………………….

Lan Wangji returned from his recent night hunt only to see a multitude of new bunnies that had somehow appeared overnight.

It seemed like they had moved due to sparse food due to how thin they all looked. Lan Wangji immediately went to the kitchens to ask for some rabbit food and got to feeding them all and building a bigger burrow for them.

As he returned he noticed how one of them looked odd. Like it was too stiff or something. He picked up the rabbit and realized that it was an undead. Despite this, Lan Wangji did not purify the poor thing. Because if a bunny held such resentment towards you that it came back to life just to kill you, then you probably deserve it.

In any case, there were a ton more bunnies abound and Lan Wangji basked in their fluffiness for a good shichen.

He was content.

......................................

Until he wasn't.

It had been a month since the bunnies arrived and Lan Wangji recently got the news that Wei Ying and the Wens had disappeared from the Burial Mounds.

Apparently, a Jin disciple had passed by the Mounds and while there was usually a barrier to ward off intruders, nothing was there except for some decaying houses.

Everyone was in a panic not knowing where they went and soon a hunt was organized for them. Lan Wangji was angered by this, knowing that Wei Ying had done no wrong.

He stomped to the bunny fields and aggressively but gently pet a bunch of the bunnies.

"Those people--" He hissed. "Xiongzhang too! I cannot believe he would just....ignore my words! I told him. I told him the truth about the Wen Remnants Wei Ying rescued and he would still believe Jin Guangyao over me!"

A cold nose bumped against his cheek. The black bunny he'd been petting perhaps sensed his turmoil and nuzzled against him. He petted the adorable thing more.

Lan Wangji sighed angrily. "Why does Xiongzhang not believe me?" He whispered mournfully. "I'm not my father. I don't--I'm not--"

The bunny in his arms chirped and a bunch of other bunnies piled on top of him. Lan Wangji soon forgot about his angers and simply fell asleep buried in the warmth. It's not like he has anything else to do today.

.....................................

Wei Wuxian was amazed. Wow. Lan Zhan talks so much to his bunny friends.

It had been a year or so since then and Wei Wuxian and the Wens had regained their lost weight, enjoying the rabbit food - mainly vegetables - that they've been given. Perhaps because of his rabbit form or because he hadn't had good food in years, he quite enjoyed these meals without complaint.

Wei Wuxian received news of the outside world from Lan Zhan and his various complaints and sighed in relief that the search for them had stopped. But Lan Zhan...... He sighed, his heart warming. Lan Zhan really did his best to support him. Wei Wuxian had never though Lan Zhan would go so far for him. But perhaps he should have expected it. Lan Zhan was too good.

But.....he seemed sad recently.

A year after Wei Wuxian had "disappeared" from the world, Lan Wangji began playing sad songs on his guqin and sighing Wei Wuxian's name mournfully. He sometimes even played that song he played Wei Wuxian in the Xuanwu cave and Wei Wuxian didn't know why his heart ached so much.

He wanted to comfort Lan Wangji in his human form and tell him that everything would be alright, but he couldn't risk being seen. He could only do his best to smother his in bunny fluff.

It was always seemed to make Lan Zhan smile.

......

Lan Wangji finally confessed what he was worrying about two years later. He plopped down gracefully in the bunny field and Wei Wuxian hopped towards him. He was subsequently picked up and give the best pets ever when Lan Wangji spoke.

"If I knew he would leave the cultivation world for good, I shouldn't have been afraid to say all that I wanted to say to him.”

Wei Wuxian titled his bunny head at him.

“I should have told Wei Ying that I loved him. That all I wanted to do was take him back here and protect him."

Wei Wuxian.exe stopped working for a good few minutes. Then he rebooted and felt his body heat up as his mind filtered through a series of ????? and ?!!!!! and !!!!!!!.

Lan Zhan......Lan Zhan likes- no, loves me?! In that way????? How long???

And then.

I have a chance? Then his mind computed what he just thought of and flushed red. No. No, no, no. It couldn't be that I......I like him too? But, I mean, it makes sense. I obsessed over him so much in my youth and was even so worried about being on his bad side. But....ahhhhh! What do I do? What should I say? I wasn't prepared to hear anything like this!

Wei Wuxian was so deep into his own panic that he didn't see the stiffening of Lan Wangji's hands as his transformation was undone. He only realized when Lan Wangji spoke in a cracked voice, "Wei Ying?"

Wei Wuxian looked down at Lan Wangji from where he was perched in in lap and promptly combusted. "A-Ah, Lan Zhan. Funny seeing you here, hahaha....."

"Wei Ying?" Lan Wangji looked so confused that Wei Wuxian would have pinched his cheeks had he been less panicked. "What--How?"

Wei Wuxian was caught. "Ah....well, it's a bit of a long story."

Lan Wangji stared at him, unblinking.

"Umm, so. This is what happened....." Wei Wuxian had distracted Lan Wangji with the journey so far but he knew he would eventually have to talk to Lan Wangji about what he heard and about his own feelings.

But for now, Wei Wuxian settled himself comfortably in Lan Wangji's lap and spoke.

Su Minshan thought that this was the end. That his arrogance that he thought he could match up to Lan-we-gongzi would be his downfall.

Never would he have thought that Wei Wuxian, whose was thought to be the most arrogant of all, would disregard his own safety to help someone like him!

But Wei Wuxian was known more for his speed than strength and was soon weighed down by Su Minshan.

Su Minshan thought that Wei Wuxian would do the obvious thing and let him go to save himself. As he had seen many others do.

But no.

Wei Wuxian did not do the smart thing and let him go. He weaved through the relentless attacks of the waterborne abyss, holding him even tighter than before.

In the end though, they had to rely on Lan-er-gongzi’s arm strength to pull them out. Wei Wuxian teased the young master, only to receive the expected biting sarcasm as before. Su Minshan might have missed it if he weren’t so close, but Wei Wuxian’s hand trembled with an unseen hurt.

Su Minshan narrowed his eyes at this. He would make sure to repay his savior, Wei Wuxian. Not now, but perhaps when he has the necessary power and resources. Or, at a good time.

He found an opportunity soon enough. Jin Zixuan was famously known for disrespecting Wei Wuxian’s Shijie. While Su Minshan did not want to draw a sect heir’s ire, if he could get revenge for his saviour somehow, wouldn’t Wei Wuxian look upon him with favor?

So he put his plan into motion in the coming few days.

.

.

The common people were rather grateful to him and the others that helped contained the Waterborne Abyss so it was easy to buy a bunch of fish at a cheap price.

He planned to donate the fish to the Cloud Recesses’ kitchens - he was not naive - wasting food was just wrong - only asking for the scraps of the fish - namely the guts. Of course, to not implicate himself, he had left the fish in special storage containers after gutting the fish. Soon after, Su Minshan waited until the afternoon, made sure his savior was locked up in the Library Pavilion to complete his copying punishment and smeared most of the fish guts all over Jin Zixuan’s room.

The reason he waited until Wei Wuxian was in the Library Pavilion was because he knew people would be quick to blame his savior for the incident. After all, Jin Zixuan had recentlymade a snide remark about Jiang Yanli recently and Su Minshan had watched Wei Wuxian tremble with rage, being barely held back by his shidis. Wei Wuxian had ample motive to carry out this revenge and Su Minshan wished not to implicate him.

Jin Zixuan soon arrived in his room and nearly retched at the smell. Su Minshan grinned.

Jin Zixuan had raged for a while, thinking it was Wei Wuxian, but when questioned, Wei Wuxian had been in the library completing his punishment. There was not enough time for him to do that to Jin Zixuan and no one had seen him anywhere near Jin Zixuan’s room.

Wei Wuxian was let go and Su Minshan sighed in relief. Revenge complete.

On the Aesthetic tastes of our Demonic Grandmaster Twink

Or WWX repeatedly gets mistaken for being both Luo Binghe and Crimson Rain Sought Flower on many separate occasions.

WWX isn't sure what to think of being repeatedly mistaken for a Demon Emperor or a Calamity.

Didn't know whether the requester wanted Yiling Laozu WWX or post-canon WWX so I went with Yiling Laozu WWX. (I'm pretty sure this is what you wanted but just send me another ask if it's not.)

Also uhh, not entirely sure what was expected of me, like whether this was a canon divergence and/or if you wanted interactions with Luo Binghe and San Lang. So I just went with WWX being generally confused on whether to be flattered or not at the comparison and ripping his hair out over his limited wardrobe options lol.

______________________________________________________

Wei Wuxian's hair was always wavier nowadays. Not that he couldn’t help it. He was too busy trying to keep himself afloat to care about how his hair looked. And though it only caused some minor inconveniences - such as being a rat's nest to comb through in the mornings - it really never was a cause for worry.

Well. At least until that day.

.

.

.

That day was the same as any other day. He had been wandering through a town, his hair up in a ponytail due to the heat and had been idly minding his business when someone seemed to double take at him and say, “My lord?”

Wei Wuxian blinked. The two people in front of him had a strange....inhuman aura. Due to his sensitivity to resentful energy, he focused a bit more and realized that the two in front of him were disguised demons! No human had that amount of resentful energy - if you exclude Wei Wuxian himself.

“Umm, no. Sorry, you must have mistaken me for someone.” Wei Wuxian tensed up. Intelligent demons were no longer hostile to humans, due to their king making some sort of deal but one could never be too careful when dealing with their kind.

“Huh. You possess a similar amount of demonic energy as our lord, so I assumed you might be him. Hearing you now, I suppose you’re not.”

Wei Wuxian looked at them. “Your....lord? You mean, the demon emperor. Luo Binghe?”

“Yeah. Our lord is half-human so it’s not like we mistook you for nothing. But, how interesting......you seem to be fully human, yet possess an incredible amount of demonic energy......”

“Uhh....thank you?”

“Mm.” The talkative demon’s partner nudged him. “Oh, we have to go now. Bye.”

“Bye.” Wei Wuxian shrugged off the strange interaction within a few days.

However.....

Wei Wuxian had been lounging around the Burial Mounds after being banned from doing any work (due to his worsening condition). He was also in a terrible mood, eyes flashing red as he muttered curses to himself.

"Wow,they really weren't joking. You really do look like A-Luo!" A somewhat sprightly woman look him up and down and Wei Wuxian paused in his mumblings.

"......What?"

"Ah! How cute! You even sound alike when you're grumpy! Ah, if only I had a way to show this sight to A-Luo and Shizun......maybe I can bring them here!"

"What."

"Oh, my name is Ning Yingying by the way. Nice to meet you, whoever you are!"

Someone else appeared by here side, tugging her away, "Ning-shijie, Shizun is calling for you."

"Ah, I'll be there. It's too bad that I have to go. See you later!" And in a blink of an eye, they were gone.

"........What on earth happened just now?"

He went back to moping around until Wen Qing found him and practically tossed A' Yuan at him to improve his mood.

His mood did indeed improve.

.

.

Wei Wuxian kept on being mistaken as Luo Binghe and it was getting kind of annoying. After conversing with the demons and discovering that their lord favored the colors he wore and often wore his wavy hair up in a high ponytail, Wei Wuxian wore his hair down. He couldn't quite change his clothes though since black was cheap and other colors were not.

Little did he know that this was not the end.

............................

Wei Wuxian shook his head, trying to clear his mind from the myriad of voices haunting him. It had been a few months since he moved to the Burial Mounds with the Wen remnants and he had been all too busy trying to come up with ways to help them survive. Too busy, in fact, that he didn’t notice the way many ghosts and resentful spirits alike took a double take at him when he wandered around his cave in his red inner robes.

Eventually, though, as their situation cleared up, Wei Wuxian began to concentrate on what the ghosts were saying as he wanted to know why they kept on bugging him.

“He really looks like him, right?”

“Yeah. I mean, if we disregard the fact that he’s human, then of course!”

“Uhh, excuse me, what do you mean by that?” Wei Wuxian asked as many other ghosts echoed their sentiment.

“Oh! Uh, Young master Wei, it’s just, when you’re dressed in all red like that and have your hair covering one side of your face, you just....you really remind us of Crimson Rain Sought Flower!”

Wei Wuxian didn’t know what to say to that. “Should I....take that as a compliment?” He didn’t know how he felt about being compared to first a demon lord and now a Calamity-level ghost!

“Oh, of course you should!  Crimson Rain Sought Flower is quite handsome, you know! If he weren’t married, all of the ladies and gents would have tried for his hand. Not that his married status makes anyone try less. Although, some of us are kinda terrified of him.....”

”Uh.....huh.....” Should I.....just stopping dressing in black and red?

"You'd be better off not being a demonic cultivator, Young Master Wei!" A spirit called cheerfully. “Your resentful energy content is so high that most do end up mistaking you for a calamity or a demon. I actually wouldn’t be surprised if you became one of those after you die!”

Wei Wuxian sighed.

_______________________________________

Yeah....that’s all I got for now. If you would like me to write more on this, perhaps WWX becoming a calamity, just shoot me an ask or message me!

Hope this was good enough. I’ve not been on my top game recently.

All it took was a simple lie.

Jiang Fengmian was tired of the accusations, of the rumors on the streets, of the scorn from his wife. Ever since he had brought little Wei Ying back from the streets, Jiang Fengmian had to deal with so much stress. But it was worth it. To care for the child of his best friends, it was worth it.

It was true that he loved Cangse. He loved her personality, her laugh, the freedom she represented. But the moment she rejected him, Jiang Fengmian had backed off and stuck with friendship instead. It wouldn’t have worked out between them anyways. Cangse lived her freedom and that was the one thing Jiang Fengmian couldn’t give her. So he was sontent with the friendship and even more so when she proposed to Wei Changze.

The two of them, his most favorite people in the world, would get married and stay in Lotus Pier. They would help him teach his disciples, show them the joys and hardships of life, help him out with the sect.

But that kind of wishful thinking was shattered when he was forced to marry Yu Ziyuan. Jiang Fengmian never wanted her. True, she was a strong, capable woman. But her personality grated against his and he knew he would crumble beneath her. But it was his terrible mother’s wish to see them married and he could not go against her as his father supported the marriage as well.

So he got engaged to Yu Ziyuan and had to get to know her. And she….wasn’t as bad as he thought her to be. Sure, she was volatile but underneath all of that, she was a wonderful woman. That’s what he thought, at least, until he found out that she had forced his friends away from Lotus Pier.

Evidently, rumors about his previous infatuation with Cangse had reached her ears and with his mother’s help, kicked Wei Changze and Cangse Sanren away from him.

Jiang Fengmian grew resentful of the two after that. But perhaps he should have done more to comfort Yu Ziyuan that he didn’t like Cangse that way.

Well, what’s done is done. He can’t change the past. But he can do something right now.

He had found Wei Ying sobbing and on the floor, a red handprint on his cheek with Yu Ziyuan standing over him.

With a shout, he gathered Wei Ying towards him and questioned Yu Ziyuan, “Why did you hit him?!”

The woman scoffed. “Why can’t I? He caused trouble so he should be punished for it.”

“He’s nine! What kind of trouble could he have caused?”

“Does it matter?” She sneered. “You would always have come to this brat’s rescue. Even though you would never do the same for our son! Or am I right? That this brat is your child with that woman!!”

“I have never even touched Cangse in that manner, how dare you! I would never betray Changze like that!!”

“Well how am I supposed to know?! He looks so similar to you! And with the way that that woman flirted, you would think—”

“YU ZIYUAN! Don’t you dare complete that sentence!! There’s a child here!”

“Oh? Why can’t I? That brat deserves to hear what kind of a woman his mother was!”

Jiang Fengmian shook with anger. Without thinking too much, he blurted out something to make her stop. (Something he wished was true.) “Wei Ying is my nephew, San-Niang!! Wei Changze was my half brother! Why wouldn’t I care for the last reminder of him?!”

Silence reigned in the room save for Jiang Fengmian’s enraged breaths and Wei Ying’s sniffling.

“…..What?” Yu Ziyuan breathed. “He’s…..”

Jiang Fengmian just computed what he said. But he would push forward with it. “He’s my nephew. My father had a tryst with a woman and Changze was born. I never knew until my father had told me so on his deathbed.” Jiang Fengmian could only thank the starts that both his parents were dead and wouldn’t be able to contest against this. “I never brought it up to save our reputation. Are you happy now?”

Yu Ziyuan still seemed in shock so Jiang Fengmian took this time to retreat.

“I hope I never see anything like this again, my lady.”

He closed the door.

The Curse of the Yiling Patriarch

When the Wen Remnants were farming I imagine they had to clear the land of corpses and things like that, maybe they quietly gathered the remains in a area WWX warded. The corpses had died with various trappings such as small jewels and finery that were completely saturated with resentment that genius WWX would never ever touch with the longest barge pole ever.

Post siege the Jins think the Cursed treasure is WWXs wealth and take it for themselves, the curse spreads rapidly.

WWX is ressurected partly to bring down JGY and partly to break what is assumed to be his anti-theft curse on the cultivation world. The curse that turns people into living skeletons by moonlight removes any satisfaction via food or drink as well as rendering them immortal... And spreads with every time a piece of Cursed Treasure is sold.

(It's basically the Cursed Aztek gold from Pirate of the Caribbean The Curse of the Black Pearl. Because cursed living skeletons seems right up there in Yiling Patriarch aesthetic and he'd probably think it very ironic and get a good long laugh out of greedy Jins getting cursed by gold.)

The first time Wei Wuxian uncovered the gold, he warned the Wens to never touch the damn thing. There was a curse so heavily entwined with the treasure that Wei Wuxian didn't want to know what would happen if someone touched it.

He made sure to leave warnings and a barrier around the damn stuff so that none of the Wens would accidentally stumble upon it.

He would have never imagined the implications of what would happen after he and the Wens died.

.................................................

The Jins has struck gold.

And quite literally at that.

After Wei Wuxian had offed himself for them, the Jins took it upon themselves to help clear the Burial Mounds of any dangerous materials. And of course seal them away! I mean, why would they take away the Yiling Patriarch’s items if not to make sure they were properly taken care of?

So of course, seeing the gold - regardless of the fact that it was saturated in resentment and had a whole barrier and warnings to STAY AWAY from it - the Jins pocketed all that wealth and decided to make sure it stayed away from the wrong hands.

As they turned away, unbeknownst to them, several red, glowing eyes glared at them viciously.

..................................................

The Jins returned to Koi Tower, their greed satisfied by the amount of gold they carried. Jin Guangshan grinned gleefully as he examined the gold that had been collected by his men.

They held a banquet under the moonlight, celebrating in the riches plundered from the Mounds. but not even half a shichen after the sun sank, resentment curled around the people who had touched the gold, turning them into skeletons. At first, chaos reigned in the room before people found out that they hadn’t turned into mindless beasts. They still had their rationality. They even discovered that once they took shelter from the moon, their skin would return to normal.

But in any case, all those who had touched the gold were cursed. And they had no idea how to fix it.

At once, they figured that the Yiling Patriarch had placed a curse on them and everyone damned him a thousand deaths. They’d figure this out and make sure that that demonic cultivator’s soul would never reincarnate.

.

.

But that wasn’t the end of the curse. In an attempt to rid themselves of the cursed treasure, the Jins spent the money on food and supplies, on pleasure and wine.

However.....they soon found out that they could not taste their food and drink, that they could not feel pleasure. They could never feel satisfied no matter how much wine they drank, their food turned to ash in their mouths, and their lust could never be slaked.

This could have been enough to kill a cultivator but they found that they couldn’t die. They had thrown themselves into an eternal hell of their own making. And had consequently affected everyone else with this curse in their attempt to rid themselves of it.

At first, they could tolerate being immortal but never sated. But as the years went by, as more and more people touched the gold and were cursed, they began to lose their sanity.

No one was safe.

The Lans, Jins, Nies, Jiangs. Common folk, cultivator. Everyone who had deigned to touch the gold had been cursed.

Years passed and the curse continued to wreck havoc among people.

.

.

.

Ten years later.....

Wei Wuxian gasped back to life, his mind in disarray. He took stock of his surroundings, his body, and sighed.

Why meeeeeee????

...............................................

“Ahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!” Wei Wuxian nearly toppled over in laughter. “Hahahahaha, oh my god--ohhh, this is so great!”

“Wei Ying.”

“Aiya, Lan Zhan, let me relish in this joy for a bit, okay? Anti-theft--” He giggled. “Anti-theft curse? Me? Lan Zhan, oh, I’m not that powerful, hahahahaha.”

“You are.” Lan Wangji said stubbornly.

Wei Wuxian blushed a little, “Lan Zhaaaan, you can’t just say something like that with a straight face!”

“....Can.”

The two of them were currently sitting in the inn room after confronting Nie Huaisang about the Man-eating Tomb. Lan Wangji had just finished telling Wei Wuxian about his supposed curse on the cultivation world for stealing the gold he had hidden away.

Wei Wuxian cleared his throat, “Anyway, it was not me who did that, er-gege. It was the spirits of the Burial Mounds.” He made a face. “Well, the more ancient ones. The Burial Mounds used to be a simple cemetery, from what the spirits had told me, but because the spirits of the deceased were often unappeased, their resentment just stewed for centuries on end.

People tried to appease them with gold and food and wine and it did work at first, but as more unappeased spirits - who didn’t want all that - appeared, gradually people just left them alone and Burial Mounds became what it is today.”

“I see. Will they still want to be appeased now?”

“You’re thinking of helping them?”

“Mm.”

“Hmmm, well, some could. Not all. I did my best to listen to them and give them some comforting advice but it didn’t always work. Some were just too angry.”

“Could playing Rest or listening to them through Inquiry lessen the resentment in Burial Mounds?”

“Oh, for sure. Which reminds me, there were a few Lan spirits there in the Mounds. I’m sure they would love to hear you play! But anyways, about the cursed gold that turned people into skeletons - which, by the way is totally deserved. Did they not see the ‘STAY AWAY ’ signs I made? Honestly, the stupidity of the Jins.

But umm, you just have to return all the gold to where you found it. I believe there was also a payment of blood that was needed too? Not entirely sure what the requirements for that are, but I think having everyone who had touched the gold spill a little blood after returning it would do. It'll satisfy the ghosts' bloodlust. They're pretty possessive of their treasure.”

“I see. Do you recall how many pieces there were?”

“Eight hundred eighty-something. I can ask the spirits for specific numbers but it should be around there.”

"Mn. How will we transport the gold without getting cursed?"

"I think it might be easier to let the cursed return the gold. We can just inform them of the cure."

"Okay. I know a few locations where they are. On the way to collecting the body parts of the corpse hand, we can tell those people to return the gold and return them to the Mounds."

"Sounds like a plan!"

Sooooo I ran out of steam and didn't know what else to write.

But here's a summary of how it might go from there: the gold eventually is returned and everyone is cured. Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji bring JGY down and get together. It's pretty much canon aside from Wei Wuxian being a little more feared than normal since people thought he cursed them. WWX' tries to convince them it was j's name is cleared and sentiment towards him is a little better because they've been cured.

Hope you all enjoyed this!

And sorry for taking so long to post. My grandpa recently died so I was sad for quite some time.
