he doesn’t know her that well. this he learns easily enough, still comes as a surprise  ( figures - what is knowing someone anyway? he could memorise the flakes of gold in her eyes, runs his fingers over every cranny of her hands, trace the lines from here to there like she’s a map, he’s so lost and would still be lost ) --- but maybe that’s the beauty of it all. cracking masks, etching lines into foundation. 

she’s a summer nostalgia he wraps around himself like security, in a hazy mix of condensation and waves of heat swaying about his feet. he leaves fingerprints pressed to her cheeks, grins against her lips, “ i’m the best pokemon catcher of them all. ” words that ghost over soft. nose nuzzles nose.

Fingertips gently brushed the blonde locks away from Hide’s face. Palms found themselves gently holding onto the other male’s cheeks. No words had emitted from Kaneki’s lips, but a faint smile had emitted from his lips. Grey irises stared onto the other’s chestnut irises as the skin of foreheads would gently press against one another. Optics slowly closed as a single tear shed, streaming down onto the One-eyed Ghoul’s cheek.

“ no, no — don’t you cry, you jackass — ”  hide is blubbers and not much else. it’s in the permission to cry, impart in the good ol’ waterworks show, have a nice, salty shower, that hide finds himself crying too  ( it’s not graceful. nothing hide does is graceful, he feels, because if he has to do anything he’s got to do it to the extreme, all at once or none at all ).  breathing in kaneki is like breathing in the sea. something nostalgic, cold and dark and familiarly unfamiliar, rings in his ears crash against crash. he wants to speak but words don’t match up with his lips, missed in translation.
