Falin was literally reconstructed by the people who love her most, using the meat of the thing that killed her. Most raw, visceral, meaningful necromancy ever. They were really like oh you think death is cheap in this dungeon? You think it will be simple? No it went too far and now you have to deal with the bones and the corpses and defy laws and the common understanding of morality and it'll be awful and disgusting but you'll do it because you love her

I've met him in person btw and he's a fucking sweetheart

[ID: Text-intensive Twitter thread from the Shapeshifters chest binders Twitter account in reply to a post by artist and author Ursula Vernon. Vernon says, A non-zero number of you apparently did not know that The Last Unicorn was a book before it was a movie. It is by Peter S. Beagle. It is made of spun glass and fairytales and iron knives and there are individual lines that I would give my lungs to have written. Shapechangers replies, I saw him every year at NYCC for several years straight, bought something at his table, asked him to sign it, and we spoke. He remembered me from year to year, no small feat at that con. He remembered which stories he'd told me. One year I came back with a different gender on. He squinted at me a bit and said thoughtfully, "I've seen you before in this place." All I had to say was, "last year you told me the story about the inoshishi." And his face cleared, and he leaned in with a grin and told me about a German guitarist who he traveled with, twice. Who transitioned between the first and second time, so he'd gotten to meet this person all over again on the second round. It was a wonderfully kind way to let me know that everything was fine. I was fresh out of the closet and I needed that, and maybe he could see it. The Last Unicorn is the best book in the world and I will defend it and its author til I die. the end. /end ID]

I don't usually talk about celebrities; artists, when I do, and I'm keenly aware that one needn't be a good person to be a hell of a heartwrenching artist. But Peter S. Beagle has written a few of my favorite things in the world, he's an excellent singer and filker, and this Twitter thread was dreadfully important to me. I don't want it going away as Twitter becomes Shitter, because it's so often bad news, isn't it? It's important to me to share trans joy.

as a trans who used this book as a medium to help rationalise my feelings, this makes my heart so happy

Yeah... I think about The Last Unicorn prolly several times a week on average. At some point after my egg finally shattered in 2018 in my 30s, I started to worry, what with all the other folks who seem to need to opine and array against us, what that sweetheart of a man would think of me now. That's when my wife pointed out this thread to me. I cried. Happy tears, you know how it is. I most often linked it to people on Discord, but decided it was time to put it somewhere I could find it when Xitter was done flushing. I am very very glad it's been so important to people. It is important. But sometimes important things don't get traction.

A golden memory.

Okay, but what if fantasy world with healing magic that works by using your own perceptual template of your body to restore damaged sections, and a hero discovering they're trans because they're the party tank and have to get healed a bunch

Otherkin paladin keeps growing fur over any healed injuries, and it's getting really hard to find armor that fits their increasingly animalistic body plan.

I used this heraldric shield-generating website to design cursed new Pride flags. Examples:

“Leather Medieval Breeches Subculture” Pride

“Polyskeletonous” Pride

“Will Beard For Cheese” Pride

“People With Heterochromia and Good Mask Discipline” Pride

“Bees Who Will Swarm An Invading Wasp and Cook Her Alive With the Heat of Their Bodies” Pride

“People Who Don’t Know How Chess Works” Pride

(left) flag for guys who go into the woods and poach one of the king’s deer and drink so much blood that they and their dogs fall asleep and don’t wake up until seven guys track them down and shoot them full of arrows

(right) flag for guys who need extremely brawny girls to hug them tight for a long time while they seek emancipation from their foster mothers

how about “Dune But It Ends At Book 1 Chapter 19 AU” Pride:

Thinking about Decim regularly apologizes as a matter of formal politeness, and says something like "I'm terribly sorry" at least once an episode to guests or Chiyuki. But then in the last episode he's saying those exact words, sobbing, as he genuinely apologizes to Chiyuki and feels sorrow for the first time in his life.

Hello! If you're up for it I'd love to hear more about your archetrope experiences! (And also fellow satyr! hi!). My DMs are open or whatever method you prefer to chat

Sure thing!! Is there anything you'd like to know specifically? :}

Nothing specific, just curious about anything you're willing to share. What's it like archetypally being a time loop victim? How did you come to identify with that trope?

I'm gonna link to the animations in case y'all either don't remember or have never heard of some of these.

A quick note: these were made in the 2000s. Comedy is subjective, there's some strong examples of dark and/or "lolz teh random" humor in these. Maybe some cultural blindness, too. That said, enjoy a time capsule of stuff made before/during the birth of Youtube, now hosted on Youtube.

I think the Rock can just go wherever they want to be. Wherever they need to go. The Shaman needed artifacts to tear through the worlds to seek Alice but the Rock just needed to be reminded that he needs to find her to just... go to her. Kane was very surprised for Feels to just have found her when they met in the in between. I think while the fey just thinking Feels is neat is fun I think that part of that rapport comes from him just being able to leave despite breaking all the rules and that's why they can act like equals together. Or Feels being able to leave Twomy for nearly a year until getting pulled back.

I think the world moves around the Rock like a river around, well, a rock in it's middle. the Rock unmoving but always in another part of the water as the river flows. Density, weight and stability manifesting in staying in place (and moving by doing that), being solid enough to punch things that really should not be punchable and the reaching out thing I still haven't been able to place.

At the same time staying in one place underneath the river is stagnation and sinking, so I do think the Rock also gets something from the Rock Shaman symbiosis

Edit: I forgot black holes. They factor into this somehow in my mind
