{🏁} “Yes, whoo! Let’s get this party started! Get that thing rolled out and I’ll take you on a ride you’ll never forget! Pick a destination, and we’ll take the scenic route.”
Oh, she was looking forward to this. She hadn’t flow in a carpet it in, what, three hundred years? That was fine, she’d have no problems. It was like riding a magical, flying bicycle. What could possibly go wrong?

—≪⌛≫ “A place to go, huh? Let’s see.”

She pulled out her world map, as well as a map marker. She closed her eyes, waved her hand around a few times, before bringing it down to apply the pin.

     “How’s that look?”

Risky was already glaring daggers just from the poke of fun and the literal poke. Her glare became even more hateful when Shantae brought up the idea of being scared of having fun with her.
“I’m not afraid, but what’s your definition of fun? I may still have that stupidly revealing princess outfit still but you better not expect me to wear it.” Risky warned. “I wouldn’t even wear it if you begged me to.”
Actually I would, you’d be stroking my ego. Like hell I’d tell you that though.
Image

—≪⌛≫ “Maybe if I got you to wear it, I could teach you some dance moves. Pirates don’t have much in the way of that, do they? You guys are fun for your... What do you call them again? Shanties?”

She knew she was most likely walking a fine line with Risky at this point... Ahh, why did Shantae have to enjoy egging her on?

“No, but really. I’m sure we can have some fun... Maybe for dinner I could take out some of the finer things to feast on... Maybe some wine or ale to go with it.”

{🏁} “Heck yeah! We just need a flying carpet. You’ve got one of those laying around, right? They’re not all that rare. I just don’t, ya know, own one. Being a drifter isn’t the best way to rack up the bucks … sigh.”
She rubbed the back of her head, grinning slightly. She just didn’t have the brains for that sort of preplanning.
Image

—≪⌛≫ “You’re lucky that I’m a genie who likes to keep one around in case Sky isn’t feeling too fond of letting her friend have a ride.”

She laughed, before heading inside to grab the roll of enchanted fabric.

“Better than us having to go allll the way over to the races to buy one, hm?”

“Your place? Ha! Why would I need to stay there?” Risky scoffed. “I can stay… Well… Um… Okay, maybe I have nowhere.” Her tone had gotten more embarrassed as she went on. Risky knew she’d jumped the gun on her remark. “Thanks for the hospitality.” The Pirate whispered, finding it difficult to be completely open with her gratitude.
So far embarrassing and awkward had been the right thoughts on what to call what this whole scenario was for her. Even worse Risky knew that it wouldn’t get any better. Not for a while at least.
“I’ll be out of your hair, there won’t be anything Risky.” She answered, trying to respond to the pun with one of her own. “I’ll just fish from dawn to dusk. Or something.”
Image

—≪⌛≫ “Oh, ho ho.. No. If you’re gonna be living under my roof, you’re going to have to have some fun with me. Like the old times... When we temporarily stopped hating each other’s guts.”

A bounce and a poke to the pirate’s cheek, a grin ever on the genie’s face.

“Unless you’re too scared to have some fun with a genie?”

{🏁} “Well, of course I missed you, hot stuff! I know I left to go on an adventure, but really, life’s so boring without you around! C’mon, we should go out on a magic carpet ride or something! I could show you the entire world on one of those rugs if I wanted to!”
She was so ecstatic, she felt like her leg might fall off. When was the last time she checked the staples on it, anyways?
Image

—≪⌛≫ “Okay, so... Yeah I’m okay with that. Take me on a tour, Rotty, show me somethin’ new.”

What was the worse that could happen? A world crisis? Not like she hadn’t encountered one or two of those before.

She tensed up when Shantae placed her hand on her shoulder. After a moment she relaxed, but her gaze was once more pulled back to the Half-Genie when she made her latter inquires.  Was Shantae actually worried about her?
“Perhaps I’ll take up a job fishing or something. Who knows. I have all the free time in the world to figure it out.” Risky replied. “I have plenty of time to figure out what I’ll do and where I’ll sleep.”
Image

—≪⌛≫”Where you’ll sleep, huh? You need a place to crash, Risky? I s’ppose if you promise not to do anything, well... Risky, I’ll let you stay at my place.”

She supposed she wasn’t making too big of a mistake with inviting her to her own place.

—≪⌛≫”What’s up? It’s been awhile since you’ve been by.”

{🏁} “Not much, baggy pants! Just hopped off the Undead caravan! By the way, you might want to keep an eye on it. Folks were a little hungry when I left, and they were in short supply of brains. So, yeah …”

image

—≪⌛≫ “Rotty please… I don’t wish to have to be called out to aid the townspeople and accidentally make both sides angry with me.”

Gosh… This zombie… What was she going to do with her?

{🏁} “Hey, it’s not my fault this time! You know zombies! We gotta eat something! Me, I’m on this new brain substitute diet. Not as tasty, but it should keep my skin from rotting for a few thousand years longer.”

Great tact, Rotty. What a way to get yourself back into town.

Image

—≪⌛≫ “New brain substitute? Are you talking something like... Tofo? Well at least I don’t have to worry about you snacking on my brain... Even if you wouldn’t be able to.”

Oh, well. She supposed that town could live. Maybe.

“Okay, so since you’re back, what’cha wanna do? Anything you’ve missed?”

Headcanon: Outside of Bolo and her uncle, she has a hard time being alone with any man in a room unless she has come to trust them well. Her mistrust and slight phobia, comes from how often men hoot and holler at her because of her dress and dances. However, she vowed to never let it change who she was.

In some cases, she had been molested, if caught off guard or intoxicated. Sexual intimacy can be hard for her to gain.

—≪⌛≫ “Oh! I would love to teach you some new moves! It’s been forever since I’ve met someone else that had an interest in belly dancing!”

She clapped her hands in delight. To think, she’d be showing a queen just how genies got down! It was exciting to say the least.

“Where and when would you like to practice?”

“I-I personally find it relaxing, and it seems to bring smiles to the faces of everyone’s faces. So no matter how ‘disgraceful’ my chancellor finds it I have no intention of stopping.” Scarlet answered. There was a clear love for her hobby in the Queen’s tone. “As for when, the earliest you can. I need to limit practicing to night time though. I don’t like openly stating it’s me behind the veil I wear.so I tend to practice solely in my bedroom. As childish as that may sound.”

The more Scarlet explained, the redder she got until eventually her cheeks were completely flushed.

Image

—≪⌛≫ “Listen, girl, er... Queen. I’m not going to shame you. I understand. We’ll do it for a few hours or so each night, whatever you want. I’ve got a lot of stamina, so you’ll have to be the judge of when to stop.”

A giggle, before moving closer, leaning in.

“Honestly I find nothing shameful about our way of dancing... It’s how people interpret it. It’s a great way to express the body or leave out stress.”

—≪⌛≫”Whaaat? No elaborate plan or scheme? Where’s your tinkerbats at? Hoisting something away?”

      Something was fishy about this.

“I’ve got them sailing around hunting treasure. Without me.” It stung to admit she’d actually sent them off. “This is a lot more awkward and difficult for me than you might imagine so just shut up and listen got it?” The Pirate ordered.

Despite that remark Risky fidgeted a bit. Was this really a good idea? To tell Shantae of all people that she was taking a break? That there wasn’t much enthusiasm left in plundering right now.

It’d certainly make her happy… She thought to herself.

“I’m taking a break…” Risky confessed. “After everything that happened with the Pirate Master I found myself having to force it. Even with this last time when I successfully had the Genie Realm in my palm for all of ten minutes.” She continued. “I was… A bit relieved when you stopped my scheme.”

She couldn’t bring herself to look at Shantae anymore so instead Risky turned averted her gaze, seeking something else to watch.

Image

—≪⌛≫”Wait... Wait a minute, you’re taking a break?”

The statement hit her like a splash of cold water to her being. Was she serious? Of course she had to be... Her whole body suggested it. She hesitated... Then stepped forward, placing a hand on her shoulder.

“Are you for real? What do you plan to do?”

—≪⌛≫”Um… You wished to see me? I was just in town looking, I hope you don’t think I did something wrong…”

“Oh no! Not at all!” Scarlet quickly dismissed. “You’re not in any trouble. I actually need your help with something.” The Dragon Queen explained.  “I’d seen you dancing the other day and your dancing is the kind I do in my spare time. Though my chancellor continuously tells me my hobby is too suggestive. I-I was hoping you might help me learn how to improve.”

It made the queen a little nervous to explain this so openly, but the guards in the throne room, as well as her chancellor who was on holiday for the week, knew all about her embarrassing hobby. When she would do it people couldn’t see her face, but to openly express it made for some discomfort.
