“I mean...That’s true, very true.”

Josie wiped down the countertop quickly, taking a moment to get herself together. She’d bartended before but, not anywhere nearly as crazy as this place. It was Vegas after all. Brushing the hair out of her face with the back of her hand, she glanced over when she heard a voice. “I’m so sorry,” she instantly apologized, having completely spaced out for a second. “What was that?”

Darcy rolled her eyes, “For the third time, can I get a refill of my coke?”

So, Caleb had wandered out of the men’s section of Forever 21, but the women’s clothes were often so weird. And, well, what are gender rules anyway? Nonsense, as far as he’s concerned. Looking down at the shirt, he raises a brow, “If you get a hamburger in this shirt, does it catch fire?” he asks the person nearest to him, gesturing to a mustard colored shirt that reads ‘I don’t care, I’m getting tacos’.

Darcy let out a sigh, looking at the shirts. “Whoever even thinks that’s a look, there’s something wrong with your eyesight.”

“Some drunk man knocked on my door at three in the morning and left his dog outside my door. Who wants a new pet? He seems sort of friendly and I can’t exactly keep him. I’ve already got an entire person to take care of.”

“Not saying you can’t. Just saying you don’t sound like you want to. That’s all. And we’re basically like fun priests. We have the same code of secrecy but we get to be drunk while doing it, so.” He shrugged his shoulders before pulling out a clean cup and pouring some water for her. “You want a lemon in it or are you gunna give me shit for asking?”

“Well, surprise surprise. I can actually do whatever I want no matter what you think. Huh, I guess that’s the only interesting part of it. It’ll be good for blackmail.” She shook her head, “No, I don’t.”

“I’ve had a rough day.” She said with a brush of her fingers through her hair. “I need a drink. You’re free to join. — I’ll get the first round and you can get the second?”

“Nope and nope. I’m not drinking, hence the water so it’s a little stupid for me.”

“And I’d rather you not come off as nasty but I guess we can’t have everything, can we?”

“It’s not like you should expect anything else.”
