BTS’s Casting

Seokjin

- attending 건국대 (Konkuk University) as a major in 연영과 (Theatre and Film) when he got casted by BIGHIT (the competition for this uni is hella high. notable alumnis are lee minho, shinee minho (all the minhos), yoo ah in, hyuna (can u imagine taking class w her) hyeri) 

 - also casted by SM Entertainment when he was in Middle School, but got scared and ran away (honestly SM dumb af why wouldn’t anyone run away if a bulky man asks if you want bling on your face to sing pop songs)

- when he sang in front of the judges, their faces hardened because he couldn’t sing (lmao)- everything you see now that isn’t acting is 100% effort (mama jin on top)

Yoongi

- started to pursue music in Primary School (tf… jjang jjang man)

- accepted odd producing jobs here and there, until he joined D-Town (a Daegu hiphop crew) as a beatmaker

- he auditioned for BIGHIT’s “Hit It Audition” and came 2nd (who came 1st who tf is u)

- he said that he had no idea he was going to debut as an idol, that he would join a hiphop group alike 1TYM (and now he does aegyo)

Hoseok

 - was a street dancer in GwangJu and went under the alias “Smile HOYA” (why… am i not surprised) 

- even went to the same dance studio as DBSK Yunho, Gong Minji, and Bigbang Seungri 

- there was special bighit audition for dancers through his dance studio: they left a camera in his practice room for 2-3 hours and when they came back, he was still dancing. they decided to cast him right after this (who wouldn’t tho… 2hrs) 

- all the members have said that they often met Hoseok first in the dorms, so it is apparent that he has been training for a long time, after namjoon (have u read jimin’s account of his first dorm experience? it’s heartwarming as shit someone write me some jihope) 

Namjoon

- has an unfortunate (and not that well known) backstory of a heart illness that caused him to go through a 30% survival rate surgery at the age of 15

- was a good kid, listened to his parents and had a “modest” dream (he originally wanted to become a poet.. this is why he quotes murakami so much u lil shit) 

- started hiphop after listening to Epik High’s “Fly”. due to his parents’ encouragement, he pursued hiphop and was active in the underground scene as “Runch Randa” (even worked with Zico - i have videos before he hit puberty lmaoooo). 

- untouchable sleepy recommended Namjoon personally to Bighit CEO, Bang ShiHyuk (Hitman Bang back again with second oh-dition) who casted him right away. 

- as everyone knows, Namjoon is genius AF: he has a high IQ of 148, and he placed in the top 1% for his entrance exams even while he was training for BTS (i can’t even find my wallet in the morning) 

- said he knew rap was for him as he could feel himself breathe when performing. First BTS member who has gone through multiple member changes.

Jimin (..my baby)

- the last member to join BTS. 

- only found out that he was even debuting with the boys after BTS’s debut date had been finalized (aka. he didn’t know whether he was debuting but he knew everyone else was).

- there isn’t anything released publically about his casting nor his past so i had to do a ton of research and asking ok 

- he auditioned in Busan, where he was attending 부산예술고등학교(Busan High School of Arts)(I have pics lol inbox me): he was in the top class for Contemporary Dance, and this education is why he has a solid foundation in all dances including contemporary, tricking, hiphop and such (watch all his solo performances if u want to get pregnant just by sight) 

- he started dancing in Middle School and went out on small competitions, which you can find videos of online

 - in Junior year (the year he got accepted into Bighit) he transferred to 한국예술학교(Korean Arts School) with Taehyung to major in Music.

- he is what koreans call “연습벌래” which means Hardworking Bug: even their choreography teacher, Son Seung Deuk, acknowledged that Jimin tries the hardest.

he is the longest bc i love him leave me alone 

Taehyung (i have shit pics of tae pls send me some) 

- he wanted to be a farmer when he was little and follow his grandma’s footsteps (is he precious or is he precious)  

- started saxophone because his dad believed everyone should know how to play an instrument(which he played for 3 years) and that’s why he wanted to become a saxophonist (sex-phone-ist) 

-  his parents were initially against him auditioning as a member so he followed a friend to the audition. 

- on the way out, a Bighit worker told him to audition so after talking to his parents, he was allowed to go. He was the last member to be revealed and couldn’t wait to debut. When others were filming their logs, he even snuck out at night to talk to the camera and pretend he was logging (this is at once sad af and precious af pls love this boy) 

Jungkook (this is my fav pic of him fite me) 

- went to audition for SuperStar K, but got elimintated in the preliminaries (but this was when he was literally 13. i was on my ass watching anime at age 13) 

- idfk why the hell they did that but he got lovecalls from 7 different agencies instead - including the three “big” companies, according to rumors - one of which included Bighit. 

- he went to the different companies to tour a little bit, but fell in love with Namjoon’s rapping and decided to join (aka me as hell) 

Conclusion: If they didn’t get casted we would have all died and life would had 0 meaning  (or we could not be on tumblr, but who’s complaining)
