METAL HEART | chapter one excerpt
See, the key to revenge is the willingness to be in for the long haul. Enacting brutal, unforgiving revenge on twelve people was a lot like building Rome: you can’t do it in a day. Getting to the people that I need to kill can be hard; sometimes I had to play roles and I had to play those roles for a long time.
But, no matter how long I had to play those roles, the time would always inevitably come for those identities to be thrown away. This particular target had taken four months of my time; for four whole months, I played the part of a jaded mercenary who was looking for something a little more lucrative. I’d spent four months moving god knows what across the desert with a guy who had a certain way of pushing my buttons.
I had endured this torturous heat and tiring trips back and forth for one reason: Victor Kinsella. He was the fourth name on my list, and while he was the easiest to track down so far, he’d made it extremely difficult to get close to him. I had no idea when it I would get the chance and then, completely out of the blue, I’d somehow managed to impress him enough to be gifted an invitation to an ‘event’ he was hosting. I found it best to just not question the odd timing of it all.

true writing is knowing exactly how your wip starts and knowing exactly how how it ends but the middle is the equivalent of you standing stranded on highway 52 while your car burns in the background before a freeze frame zooms in on your face and a voice-over goes “yup that’s me. you might be wondering how i got here.”
not to mention that when you think you’ve got your ending all figured out, you finally get to writing that final chapter being entirely confident. only to realise that the beautiful waterfall that symbolised your ending chapter was simply a mirage and now you are standing in a desert and have no clue how you got there when it seemed so obvious in the beginning

is it bad that i love making little puns/jokes to myself about my characters or about certain aspects of their personalities?
u know i forget whether i did this on purpose or not but one of my characters is named Ozzie…….and i made him Australian…..

i laughed way too hard at myself when i did that so i decided to keep it

SETTING ― a fictional desert state in a world were humans and supernatural folk alike live in relative harmony.

CONTENT WARNING(S) ― violence, gore & abuse
SYNOPSIS !
― Metal Heart is a new adult WLW supernatural romance that follows Nix Kincaid, a werewolf with a desire to hurt those who have hurt her. She has a list full of people who she’ll put on the receiving end of her wrath, and she will rid the world of them one by one.
Her plans hit a snag, however, when she collides with Simone Cross, a soft-spoken witch who, surprisingly enough, isn’t taking her shit. Nix’s plans are derailed and somehow she’s being roped into saving Simone’s sister. If by roped into, she meant forced into.
The more time Nix spends with the optimistic witch, the more she begins to question the things she had begun to accept as fact.
So, yeah, this is it! I’m currently working on wrapping up my planning and writing the first chapter. If you’d like to be on the taglist, just let me know!

- a small group (probably 5-10) of writers coming together to focus on finishing one of their WIPs. we’ll track progress together, encourage each other through plot holes and writer’s block, celebrate small victories, and maybe share small snippets of our work or potentially do critique swaps if there’s interest in that.
- primary communication will be through discord
- hopefully not a space to stress yourself out– writing books is HARD and requires a quadrillion tiny baby steps and we all gotta go at our own pace– but I think it would help me, and probably some other writers, to have a small group helping me stay on track and excited about my story. so I’d like to make that happen!
