HEY DISCORD USERS!!

unfortunately, discord continues to be the Worst Messaging Company Of All Time with its updates, and this time, its one that is not only a privacy violation, not only enabled by default, but ROLLED OUT SILENTLY, MEANING YOU MUST KNOW IT EXISTS TO TURN IT OFF.

i am talking about "clips", an exciting new feature /s that allows people to record you in voice chat without your knowledge or consent! Wow!

fortunately, you can turn this off, but its kinda shitty how they didnt tell you this existed at all, yeah?

settings > clips> the button should be clicked to turn it off

a screenshot of the sidebar of discord's settings screen, reading "my account, profiles, privacy & safety, family center, authorized apps, devices, connections, clips, friend requests"
ALT

(note that it should be ON by default, you will have to click the button to turn it off)

thanks, discord, for Telling Us This Violating Setting Exists In An Update And Making Sure It Is Off By Default. /s.

reblogs are appreciated to spread the word.

Last Line Challenge

Rules: In a new post, show the last line you wrote and tag as many people as there are words (or as many as you feel like).

Thanks for the tag, @trudemaethien! :D

This is from a canon-divergent fic that started out as a fairly simple premise:

A. Some clones who are badly injured get shipped back to Kamino to be enlisted in a program that turns them into cyborgs. Waxer is one of them. B. He doesn't remember his previous life and he gets assigned to work with Boil as part of an ARF pair. C. There are lots of feels and I get to be like 'now kiss' and then they do.

But now it's a Whole Thing with like three or four sub plots and I'm very okay with it. Atm, it's clocking in around 54K with 13 chapters, and I've probably got 4-6 more chapters to go in the draft.

Anyway, the line:

It's more like how Waxer feels when he makes Boil smile or laugh, but more.

ooo! thanks for the tag @cacodaemonia!!

I've been working on a lot of original fiction as of late, but luckily I just started drafting the final chapter to a thranto fic I've had in the works!

“It is clearly disenchanted, Ensign,” Thrawn warns.

I'll tag: @roobgumball95 @owlpartytime @thedistantstorm and anyone else who feels like sharing!! <3

This one is from a different WIP than the one I posted earlier..

Thrawn wondered now if the present situation might be different if he had.

Thank you @owlpartytime !!

The last line I wrote was more of an edit but let’s go with it. This is from chapter 20 in my fic The Edge of Doom:

“Good luck with….whatever this is.” Eli said, stepping back.

Tagging:

Thanks for the tags @amukmuk and @hobbit0fhobbiton!

From chapter 5 of Hopes Beyond:

He wondered, not for the first time, if Thrawn had seen how the Chiss of ages past had been enamored with the Sith. Eli could. And history, if not heeded, seemed rather determined to repeat itself.

Tagging @littleshebear @shaken-veil @thornhands to share their last line if they wanna (but absolutely no pressure!)

I haven't written anything in an Age but here's the last line(s) of In Dreams We Awaken:

Casimir doesn’t need to wait long to find out if his request has been granted. They are only a few strides along the path before the screaming starts. Vaermina be praised.

Okay, here goes. That feeling  when you wake up and realise it's not a bad dream.

I'm writing this on the bus, on the way to work. I'm wearing my Zavala hoodie and it's absolutely miserable, pouring rain, which seems appropriate.

I'm not usually one to get very upset over celebrity deaths but Lance Reddick's passing has absolutely bodied me. I picked up my phone last night to see about half a dozen DMs warning me what had happened and I genuinely felt like I'd been punched in the gut.

I wish I could say I noticed him in the Wire but that wasn't my introduction, I became a fan because of Fringe. Agent Broyles typified the kind of role that Lance could absolutely in nail in a way few actors could; stern, authoritative but with an underlying compassion and kindness that shone through if you paid attention.

I started playing Destiny in year one and Zavala was my favourite character from the off, the cast grew over the years but he was never toppled from the top spot for me. As soon as I heard him speak, I knew I was in for a treat. You always are when you hear *that* voice.

I mainly played solo and didn't really get involved with the fandom until the run up to Destiny 2. My life was in turmoil at the time, my father passed and my mother followed a few months later. Destiny was an escape and Zavala's character, in particular, was a comforting presence. He's typically strong and imposing, what you'd expect from an FPS leader character but Zavala is so much more than that. He's kind, compassionate, principled. I was, and still  am, fed up of Game of Thrones style moral greys, Zavala's unambiguous goodness was a breath of fresh air and so compelling. I was so ready for a character who embodied goodness, someone who'd always do what was right no matter what. I'd follow him into battle without hesitation (and let's not get too poetic here, let's be honest, I'd climb him like a tree too, I'm only human).

It might seem silly, and not everyone will be able to relate but when your life is falling apart, hearing that voice in your ear telling you, "Be brave," it really meant something to me.

It might be daft to get weepy over someone I didn't know. His characters meant the world to me, his tweets about his dogs made me laugh and his involvement with and enthusiasm for the Destiny community was heartwarming but I didn't know him. But still. I'm heartbroken. I wish I could have met him and told him what Zavala meant to me. He was a comforting voice in my ear and it's gutting to know he won't be around to see The Final Shape. It just feels so wrong and unfair.

So farewell and thank you, Lance. I'm sending all the love to your family, friends and colleagues. I wish we all had longer with you.

The Light provides.
