howdy!!!! a while back, Smallbü Animation asked me to make them some merch designs!! As a big, long-time fan of their work, I was very happy to deliver.

They're currently running a pre-order campaign that ends on 4/17, so nab these shirts & totes while you can! There's a variety of shirt colors & sizing, so please take a gander and support the awesome independent animation work that they do. : ) ⭐ A LINK!!! to the store!!

Occasionally I'll get messages from folks about finding Heat in print... Happy to say that Peow's doing a reprint of the comic! : ) LINK HERE!!!

Nothing's changed from the original 2018 print run, but print books should be coming with a free sticker! (Red w/ many cats, see above design lol) No bonus materials or updates. But print is still my personal favorite way to experience the story visually, so hopefully you print-lovers out there will enjoy it.

It's an older book, so I'm really grateful that Peow and I share the same desire to basically keep this book alive somewhere and accessible to readers. The digital PDF is also still up in my store on a sliding scale basis, with all of the bonus materials and bells/whistles. If you'd like a free copy, just drop me an email and I'll send you a PDF.

It has been both very strange and very rewarding to have the chance to revisit this story lately. Hope you'll give Heat a read if you haven't before!

A belated batch of fanart drawings, post-SB Fair. :' )

My thoughts on each comic are buried somewhere on twitter/insta, but in short, they were all wonderful. ^ ^ They're not available at the fair anymore since it ended, but I'm sure they'll live on in some form, sometime in the future. Please check out these artists' work! I had the chance to slowly read, I'd say... about 75-80% of the comics this year? It was astounding/inspiring/overwhelming to experience and be reminded of the variety of things you can do with a short comic. Short comics are both approachable to make but difficult (for me) to control and land with a deft hand, in a limited number of pages... What's a great, satisfying bite? This all reminded me of how enjoyable and engrossing it can be to digest and navigate comics. (I don't read enough these days, clearly.) Wish I had planned my lil one-man-promo-campaign a bit better, but I did more drawings than I expected hahaha.

Anyhow, SB Fair was a great experience this year. Keep an eye out for yet another batch of great comics next year! And if you picked up my comic this time around, thanks so much & happy reading!

A batch of fanart for some comics that I've been digging at this year's Shortbox Comics Fair! Comics and authors linked below.

I've been posting tiny reviews on twitter and insta about each comic. But in summary, each of these comics made me laugh or marvel or feel emotional, or simply everything at once. I've read so many great comics so far, and regret that I don't have the time to make fanart for many more haha.

There's such a wonderful range of comics and cartooning on display at this year's fair, so I hope you'll check it out and pick out a few for yourself. : ) Less than a week left to go!

New comic!! Is out!! >: )

It's about portents, wondering, and ancient astronomy. A very short 26 pages! You can get it here (linked), with a ton of other awesome comics, at Shortbox Fair! It'll be online for the whole month of October! Have never done historical fiction before I don't think. Have to say, the research process was maddening but very very interesting. Falling through rabbit hole after rabbit hole....

Three years of Shortbox Comics Fair posters! ^ _^ 2023, 2022, and 2021. Sunday is the start of Shortbox Comics Fair! A ton of awesome short comics are debuting through the fair, and will be online for folks to peruse for the whole month of October! I'll have a new short debuting there as well. I did the initial branding for SB Fair, and have been doing the posters for the past few years. This year is my final, it's always been a fun and challenging assignment. Very excited to see future posters and to see the fair continue to grow. >: )

This autumn is Heat's 5th birthday! I don't really know if many of you guys here have read it (I was fairly inactive here, when the comic came out, way back in 2018. And I was very bad at self-promotion lol) I made this little commemorative faux-polaroid print to celebrate!

Originally published by Peow, I'm now self-publishing a new digital PDF edition of Heat. Both comic & print are in my web shop. The new edition has some additional materials that I've pulled together, including early concepts, random illustrations, and a very cheesy essay on how the comic was made (alongside some process images! thumbnails, pencils, etc.) Heat was my first big comic project. Bit of a trial by fire. I was so green when I made it!

It's been a bit weird, thinking back on Heat. I'm the type to make a thing, put it out, and not really think about it much afterwards. Even in drawing this little print, I was like. Who even are these characters in 5 years? It was strange to age Katy up a little. A bit like drawing fanart of your own work, it doesn't feel like canon.

Anyhow, rambling. I hope you'll give Heat a read, if you haven't before! It's sliding scale, but if you'd like a free PDF, just drop me an email at my store email (weiweiwaywei@gmail.com) and I'll send one along when I can.
