This autumn is Heat's 5th birthday! I don't really know if many of you guys here have read it (I was fairly inactive here, when the comic came out, way back in 2018. And I was very bad at self-promotion lol) I made this little commemorative faux-polaroid print to celebrate!
Originally published by Peow, I'm now self-publishing a new digital PDF edition of Heat. Both comic & print are in my web shop.
The new edition has some additional materials that I've pulled together, including early concepts, random illustrations, and a very cheesy essay on how the comic was made (alongside some process images! thumbnails, pencils, etc.)
Heat was my first big comic project. Bit of a trial by fire. I was so green when I made it!
It's been a bit weird, thinking back on Heat. I'm the type to make a thing, put it out, and not really think about it much afterwards. Even in drawing this little print, I was like. Who even are these characters in 5 years? It was strange to age Katy up a little. A bit like drawing fanart of your own work, it doesn't feel like canon.
Anyhow, rambling. I hope you'll give Heat a read, if you haven't before! It's sliding scale, but if you'd like a free PDF, just drop me an email at my store email (weiweiwaywei@gmail.com) and I'll send one along when I can.
