I’m doing alright. I recently fell down the Dramione rabbit hole. Who knew? And I’m still designing every day. You? How are you? Are you staying safe?
I’ve been meaning to put this together for a while, so I’m finally sitting down and doing it. Asterisks indicate it’s a story I’ve reread at least a half-dozen times.

But seriously, at this point, I’m just trying to think of Rob Thomas as an abusive father. He may have brought our characters into the world, but he’s proven himself unworthy.
It was me, and you, and all the other fic writers and artists who’ve nurtured them over the years. They’re OUR babies now.
What did you to do wash the bad taste out of your mind? I’m still struggling! It makes making things or reading new stories so hard. I’d so love to wipe even the thought of S4 from my brain. Sigh.
But yes, you brilliant fic writers kept everything alive and exciting for so long before. Clearly he doesn’t really own the fandom anymore. Thank goodness....
Also, thank goodness for you. And S. And C. And all the brilliance you still bring to us all daily. You are so sweet and kind.
I’m always grateful for fic recs so I figured I’d make a list of my own Dramione favorites (so far) which I enjoyed for one reason or another: good sense of humor, fantastic characterization, original plot or good ole smut. What you won’t find: Draco without a redemption arc or a helpless Hermione. The list will be expanding as I’m going. Beware of the tags and ratings, not all of them might be your cup of tea.
On this note: thank you to all the fanfiction authors! For all the great writing and generous sharing, you are amazing and I’ll be eternally grateful for your willingness to fix, fill the gaps, give new chances and perspectives or just explore.

okay i havent watched vm in so long & was trying to find time to watch the 4th season but your post & that gifset just gave me a giant No Thank You, It Sucks. like wtf, what did they dO TO HER, & LOGAN??????
YEAH. YEAH. IT’S….. IT’S BAD.
Like, there was so much about Veronica in particular during season 4 that I didn’t like. And it was lowkey super uncomfortable because she’s my favorite character and I had to keep doing harder and more complex mental gymnastics to get around the things I did not like, but I was willing to do it because I thought the season was gonna ultimately be about Veronica growing up, realizing her attitude didn’t work and was losing her the people she cared about. I thought it was going somewhere.
Things like Veronica looking at her boyfriend, someone she knew had a whole shitton of trauma and who struggled with anger management issues and who had gone through a whole lot to fix himself long before she came back into his life and then like…. deliberately provoking him into getting angry enough to put his fist through a cabinet which apparently turned her on because she liked him better like that???? Like, she was getting angry at him for having reasonable, measured responses to what was going on, she wanted angry mal-adjusted Logan back and tbh at that point in that episode (…. i wanna say ep 4 or ep 5) I had to walk away for a while because it made me feel vaguely ill. But I thought she was going to learn from that and realize that it was a good thing her boyfriend was getting therapy and fixing his issues and calming down (all things which, before he’d done them, had ultimately caused their relationship to fall apart back in season 3).
There were other things, too (like the drinking episode, and Veronica’s sex dream with Leo which….ugh), and they were getting harder and harder to ignore but then, but then…. Veronica accepted Logan’s proposal. And I thought finally, we’re getting the pay-off, it wasn’t all for nothing, it’ll be ok. And then they got married (after a pointless and honestly cruel gag where Veronica, Wallace, and Keith all immediately assumed Logan was leaving her at the altar via text because one of his texts didn’t send and frankly that should’ve been the final straw for me but I still naively hoped it would all serve a purpose), and I think I knew, about half a minute before it happened, what was coming. But I was in denial until the car Logan got in blew up.
Actually, I was in denial for the rest of the episode, and right up until the one year later time skip where it was confirmed Logan was dead I was positive he hadn’t actually died, because the way the scene was framed and shot was like any other show where someone ‘dies’ in a car bomb except it cuts away with enough time for the victim to get away. There are still people who believe Logan somehow escaped and would come back in another season, but Rob Thomas said that Logan needed to die so that Veronica could go back to being a PI, solving mysteries, and “doing that with a boyfriend or a husband just felt less interesting, less sexy, less noir.” (his exact words, from this interview and honestly, i’m still seeing red about it) Proving that not only does he not know what noir really is, he doesn’t know who Veronica is.
Anyway…….yeah, just. Save yourself the pain. The entire series is on Hulu and I really, genuinely hope that some day I can go back and watch the original series without this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach, because the first two seasons especially were so amazing and still stand up as some of the best hours of television I’ve ever seen in my life.
But right now, it’s all tainted, and I hate it so much I can barely breathe.

What bothers me is that RT is going to say the reason they’re not letting him do s5 is because we’re a bunch of fangirls who only care about the ship. I hate it. He’s not going to take responsibility for his shitty writing.
I get where you’re coming from because for longtime fans Logan’s death was the proverbial nail in the coffin of a season that was worlds away from the show we used to love - they missed the mark on the writing and the characterization of most characters, except for the character they were so adamant to dispose of in such an awful and careless manner, which makes the whole thing even more bewildering.
However, I literally couldn’t care less about what excuses the basic bitch makes as long as the show dies a slow and painful death.
If he thinks stupid fangirls are the reason the show died, then he’s got it right. After all, stupid fangirls are the reason the show was raised from the dead time and again, we were bound to be the reason for its demise. I’ll proudly take responsibility for that.

Since the cancellation of Hulu’s Veronica Mars will inevitably bring about the blaming of “entitled fangirls” for its demise, I’d like to helpfully set some reminders: • Those “entitled fangirls” were responsible for keeping the franchise alive for fifteen years, as well as reviving it. They did the work. • Instead of doing the work and repping for a season five, pro-s4 folks instead chose to spend their time mocking, complaining about, and fighting with those “entitled fangirls.” Should have done the work of those fangirls y'all took for granted. • Also, about those “entitled fangirls?” They weren’t the only ones angry. Even casual fans were checking out once they found out about the ending. Rob Thomas pinned his hopes on the new hulu viewership, stupidly forgetting these new viewers would also be binge watching the old seasons and movie, and thus the new season that stripped away everything that made VM special IS NOT WHAT THEY SIGNED UP FOR. • And it’s not just fangirls- FANS’ ANGER WAS DEEPER THAN LOGAN’S DEATH. People were very upset about Veronica’s characterization and treatment of trauma survivors. And are we really forgetting “Veronica is a Republican?” • And perhaps the most important thing: VIEWERSHIP IS NOT OWED. The fans who are angry are not obligated to watch or support something that they feel wasn’t what they signed up for. Entertainment is a give and take place. It’s a business and transaction. Viewers are not under an obligation to give their eyes and money to something they didn’t want. And in this case, the fans spoke up. • And finally, this cancellation may not be what Rob Thomas expected, but it’s definitely what he needed. You pay the most loyal of fans dust, don’t expect them to fund your temper tantrum. Better make a kickstarter. So that’s it!
