chris didn’t have to lie to himself about the fact that this was pretty unsafe, to be an actual couple in public, but he wasn’t going to let that stop him from enjoying some quality time with his girlfriend. however, there was that faith voice in the back of his head making he remember she was public trainee, she had an image to look after, but rose was also old enough to know what was best for her. so if they both wanted to match for this event, they fucking were going to match.
“well, she does cut her hair at the end, it goes brown.“ chris points out, glancing at  her hair “but i like your hair as it is.“ he adds with a smile and looks back ahead of them. he didn’t mind being dressed up, it wasn’t his usual attire, however he was aware that if he ever gets signed, he would have to get to deal with being dressed in specific ways once he debuts. plus, its fun, at least right now. “you can always dye it if you want to. like i did with mine.“ he explains as he reaches to run a hand through his dark brown hair. the blonde he had on was cute, but it wasn’t his thing. “same here.“ he says with a grin and reaches to wrap an arm around her shoulder to squeeze it gently “it looks like fun, its probably gonna be pack. you think you might see anyone you know?“ chris asks, because he was already aware about the fact that people he knew were going to be around.

he gives a good argument, rapunzel’s hair is indeed cut short at the end of the film. and it ends up brown. “i don’t think i could pull off short hair. well, at least not that short.” rose adds, poking at the loose, blonde tendrils of her hair; pinning them back in behind her ear. she’s always been curious as to what she would look like with short hair but she’s not sure she could commit. doing so, cutting it all off would probably be a nightmare and a half for her, five minutes after doing so. “but thanks, i’m glad you like it as is. it’ll be brown again soon, i’m sure or black, even!” she adds with a smile. and rose thinks that chris looks rather dashing as her flynn rider.

it’s already quite busy. lots of people surround them, wearing costumes of all sorts. some people seemed to of really gone out of their way to dress themselves up. others however, didn’t really put in much effort. rose wonders if she went a little too overboard. oh well, halloween was the one night they could go out of their way and be something that wasn’t themselves. and if rose wanted to be a damn disney princess, then that’s what she was gonna be.

“i don’t know, i think it might be a little hard. the costumes and all, y’know?” she shrugs, looking around at all of the disguised faces. “what about you? you know if anyone was coming to this thing tonight?” rose knew that she was bound to know someone in amidst the hoard of colourful costumes, if she didn’t then ... that was something. she was wondering what her friends were getting up to tonight, or what they were dressed up as. the morning would tell.

@rkrose
they say that hindsight is always 20/20, and even though he’s a man that lives without regrets, even he knows it to be true, and there’s hardly a more quintessential situation in which it applies than right now, as he attempts to run from a staff member after one of his life bands in a giant inflatable dinosaur costume. he’d never been a competitive person, of the mindset that having fun is the most important outcome of all, but hearing that there are prizes to be won means he intends to come out with at least one band attached to his dino wrist at the end of the night to spin that wheel of luck.
somehow, he manages to escape getting infected by the fictitious virus, weaving through the crowd to try and find his partner in crime for the night, having been separated due to the sudden appearance of a member of the undead, but in his search, he instead finds another familiar face in the distance, about to be pounced on by the staff member he’d just escaped!
he rushes over and, without much thought, he spins around in an attempt to use his tail to swat the zombie away. and, to no one’s surprise, not even his own, it’s highly ineffective, doing nothing more than stunning the staff member with his stupidity, and perhaps forcing him to keep from laughing. it’s enough, though, as chanyeol uses this opportunity to gently push rose into a different, safer area.
“whoo, that was close!” he says, clearly out of breath now despite all the training he does day in and day out. “he almost got ya there!”

maybe the long extensions rose had woven into her actual hair weren’t such a good idea after all. especially since she had spent a good portion of the evening running away from fake zombies. as pretty as they were, flowers entwined into the large braid, rose found herself weighed down by the large hank of blonde hair, doing her best to duck and weave around the fake undead. amidst her escape, rose had misplaced her boyfriend in the crowd. which was fine and all, but she was hopeful that they were going to be in it together. she does her best to try and pick him out of the crowd but it’s difficult, especially since there’s zombies loitering the area. and a lot of them.

she’s been targeted by an undead staff member, who’s clearly got their eyes on rose. she stands out in her flowy purple dress and glowy, blonde locks. she looks panicked, not because she’s scared, but because she’s got bands on her wrist that she’s darn well adamant about keeping. just when rose starts to think the end is near, out of nowhere comes someone in a dinosaur costume. a whole inflated suit. rose stands there awkwardly, somewhat dumbfounded by the dinosaur who attempts to swat the zombie away from rose with it’s inflated tail. and before she knows it, the dinosaur is ushering her away from the stunned creature, who looks on like a fool.

the two of them find themselves in a safe zone, or at least a safer area. rose brushes the ponytail back over her shoulder. she clutches her hands to her chest, her head racing beneath her palms. she looks at the dinosaur curiously. who was her knight in inflated armour? “yeah, he almost did. nice save there, thanks.” she chimes with a grin.

“i can’t believe you actually bleached your hair for this costume.“ chris says as he reaches to tuck a strand of blonde hair behind his girlfriends ear. he really liked the dark brown hair royal made rose dye her hair, however, he would always be honest and admit that blonde was her thing. it made her look even more angelic than she already was.
“i’ll miss the brown a bit.“ he teases, reaching for her hand as he gently tugs her close to him. it had been a while since they went out anywhere public together, which was always a drawback dating a trainee. however, he never made it a bad thing. chris was just worried that eventually, what would happen if he got signed as well? when would they see each other? it wasn’t like rose was living with him, she was still with her close friends and trainees.. but he shakes the thought away, he would think about it some other day.
“you excited about the event then?“

rose really had gone the extra mile for halloween this year. she wanted to it to be believable; after all, she wasn’t about to parade around seoul as a brunette rapunzel, god no; as progressive as some may of seen it. no, she had no choice but to go back to blonde. she was in the process of getting her blonde hair back, though. it just so happened to coincide with rose’s halloween plans. she was grateful for the brief brunette stint after almost a year of being a blonde. but her brown hair reminded her of someone that she wasn’t, a past version of herself. someone else. slowly, dark brown-nearing-black locks fade back to a golden brown before being touched by bleach. a professional stylist removes the brassy tones and rose is left with soft, healthy hair that is colour matched to the long extensions she’s going to have to haul around on halloween night.

“well, i couldn’t be a brunette rapunzel now, could i?” she chimes to her boyfriend, chris. looking up at him with a gentle smile. he brushes a stray lock of blonde hair back from her face. tonight was going to be theirs. maybe it was a little cheesy, considering rose has convinced chris to be the flynn rider to her rapunzel. and maybe it was a little risky, considering they were actually an item. but halloween was supposed to be one night where they could be anything but themselves. well, that’s what the buffy episode in season two told her. “i’ll miss the brown too, honestly.” she says with a sigh, patting chris’ arm. “i’m excited i get to spend tonight with you.” she admits candidly. and she was excited that she got to spent tonight with chris. usually, their nights were short, their mornings too. a part of rose felt guilty, for not giving chris a genuine experience. but they were approaching their first anniversary. so what was stopping them from going all the way? wherever that took them. “what about you? tonight looks like it’s gonna be a lot of fun.”

last friday night.

it had been… a while since shiah and rose had last spoken. they had seen each other on the vacation weekend trip… thing the company had done, but since then? she hadn’t seen a lot of the girl, and conversation had been sparse. shiah had always wanted to get closer to rose, and she knew rose had wanted the same too, but for some reason or another it had never really happened. they always seemed to get too busy… but shiah had bonded with other royal girls. she wondered what the problem was, if either of them wasn’t actually intent on bonding, or if it slipped their minds…
seeing the other girl before her now, she can’t help but feel a pang of panic. it’s… awkward. it’s actually awkward to run into her. how unfortunate. “h-hey!!…. friend!” way to make it even worse, shiah. could anyone blame her though? it had been forever, what was she supposed to say? “how’s it going? been a while…” yup, definitely super awkward. how was she supposed to fix this?
@rkrose

it’s a little disheartening that rose and shiah hadn’t really gotten close. despite their wishes to do so, things always got inbetween eachother. brief waves and glances at seocho, hanging out only a little on the company trip, but never alone. it seems as though they had both put in the effort to bond with everyone else in the company, just not eachother. and rose isn’t exactly sure how she should approach this. usually she’s got an idea of how to break the ice with each of the trainees but rose is at a loss with shiah.

until now. rose and shiah find themselves face to face with one another and rose is lost for words. lips pursed, her brain scrambles for something to say. she panics. “h-h-hey there.” rose murmurs awkwardly, running a hand through her long, blonde hair. so, shiah was feeling just as awkward as she was? that was going to make her feel better for sure. shiah points out that it’s been a while, and she isn’t wrong. rose couldn’t even think back to when they actually properly spoke or even performed together. even on the filming for dream knight, they never really spoke to one another amidst breaks.

“y-yeah, it’s been a while.” rose mumbles, glancing down at her feet. “s-shiah, h-how have you... uh, been?” she asks curiously, trying to divert the awkwardness.

hi there, everyone! it’s eri, here. i wasn’t sure what i was going to have rose perform for this month since anything ballady is out of the question, but i figured i might as well have her do something a little different and out of her comfort zone. for october’s evaluation, we’re going to be doing ikon’s killing me. i obviously don’t want her to perform this on her own, so having a couple of people to perform it with would be greatly appreciated! so, please like this if you are interested teaming up with rkrose for this evaluation, below are the parts

SAYONARA.

lead part. a role he hadn’t quite expected, after hearing about the acting opportunity that was given to him. if anything he had thought he would receive a cameo role, especially among everyone else. “it is, no doubts. and acting is really fun, if you ignore the storyline.” he chuckled at her question about the possible song he would have performed if he wasn’t too busy with dreamknight. rose knew that he liked dramatic songs, so without many excuses, he handed her his phone to let her listen to a japanese song. “no idea if i would have been able to pull it off-” kang joon wasn’t the greatest singer among them all - “but it would have been cool to perform a different kind of genre.” and aside from that, it would have been a song which meaning spoke his mind.
even if she was telling him that fans might rip the webdrama out of their hands and how much they would love it, kang joon couldn’t help but worry. being chosen for a project like this had been quite overwhelming, especially since it had been a while since the royal boys had received a chance like this. kang joon had read netizens response about his highlighted performance, how he wasn’t a dancer and stuff. his charisma was the only thing he could count on, so acting was something kang joon wanted to do well. he didn’t wanted to stay a disgrace to the royal garden any longer, and dreamknight was the first chance in a long to show those netizens what he really got (even though it might become an impossible task with all the cringeness going on in the webdrama).
“yeah, second hand embarrassment is the right word for this. just don’t laugh too much, I wouldn’t be able to talk to any of you ever again.”
kang joon could already imagine the royal kids and rose cringing when watching the webdrama. it would still take some time until it were to air, and he felt already conflicted about seeing the final result. it was the first project in a long, and he was proud to take part in it, but then again it was just a webdrama, nothing overly memorable.

rose’s appearance in the drama itself was cringe worthy enough, and she didn’t have a speaking role. still, an acting opportunity was still an acting opportunity, it was a chance to get ones name out there. rose was hopeful that kangjoon might be presented with more roles in the future. “well, even if this isn’t the most ideal debut scenario for your acting career,” she begins, pursing her lips. “it’s a debut, at least!” she chimes with a shrug. it was nice knowing that the boys had a thing for them to do. the girls of royal, or at least a good handful of them had gone on royal survival, the boys however, hadn’t had shit. it was nice knowing they had something pre-debut, even if it was the in the form of an awkward, second hand embarassment giving web drama.

she glances down at kangjoon’s phone, with the faint sound of a japanese song escaping from the device. she nods her head slowly. “i think you would of been able to,” she says with a curt smile. “you’ll probably get an opportunity to perform it for another evaluation sometime soon, maybe?” rose adds with a quick shrug. rose had a bunch of songs on the back burner that she was hopeful she would be able to perform at some point. as to whether she was going to be able to actually go ahead and perform them was another thing in itself.

rose chuckles. “ah, no promises there. but i myself will do my best to not laugh too much.” she quickly crosses her index and middle finger, as though she’s making a promise. “after all, i’m in this drama too, so people are probably going to laugh at me. i’ll laugh at me, heck.” it would be pretty darn hard to not laugh at the fiasco that was dream knight, it was practically begging to be laughed at. although admittedly, it did have a handful of sweet moments that weren’t that bad.

SEPTEMBER EVALUATION, 19! performing ⇢ say yes, by punch & loco ( featuring lisa ) “i want to tell you my heart with the blowing wind, love is true.

yet another month had passed them by, just like that. without thought, rose swears that january was only yesterday. but there they were, at the end of september, moving forward into the last three months o the year. it’s yet again another evaluation, as it usually is at the end of every month and there’s yet another theme or genre to tackle, ample opportunity to work with new people or familiar faces. in rose’s case, she’s found herself with lisa, which is perfect. it had been so long since the two of them had performed anything, perhaps the previous evaluation was only the beginning for them. september had rolled around, and the two had found themselves in a group once more, to rose’s delight. rose hadn’t any problems performing with lisa, although she had a feeling that he beginning of this evaluation might be a little hard to get moving. given the theme of ost and all. they weren’t usually dance, or rap friendly and most were ballads. it was going to be a blood battle to try and snag up one of the rap orientated tracks for sure. this was yet another rose friendly evaluation, and she was grateful. although she had come to enjoy the long hours of dancing and singing to perfection for evaluations, a part of rose still longed for the chance to sit back and just sing, without the theatrics.

so they manage to find themselves with a song. it’s divided rather nicely, with decent rapping and vocal sections for both lisa and rose, just how it should be. it’s a rather cheesy, upbeat song from a popular television drama that aired a few years back. it’s bright and isn’t exactly the image the two of them were going for, but it’s all they’ve got. rose almost feels a little strange attempting to go for something so ... simple. it feels unfamiliar to go back to something so stripped back and bare, when she’s been so used to being theatrical and precise with everything, especially when it came to evaluations. it was so hard to get rose to let go of her guitar when she firstly signed to royal and now it’s rare to see her with it. she does long for the opportunity to perform with it on the regular, but she doesn’t like her chances and she has come to accept it.

both lisa and rose perform together well, bouncing off of one another. rose finds herself grooving to the beat while lisa raps, her foot subconsciously tapping on the rung of the stool she sits upon. she had contemplated bringing forth her guitar for this performance but decided against it, fearful that it might distract from not only her own singing, but lisa’s rapping; which she wanted to be a clear focus in their performance. after all, rose had her chance to shine during the chorus. rose’s voice is clear and sharp, a smile peaks through as she continues to sings. she keeps her eye contact between the coaches in front of her and lisa at her side, moving between them naturally. it’s safe to say that while this wasn’t a show stopping number, it was still executed to the best of their abilities. and besides, what could be better than sitting down with your best friend to just sing a song about love? nothing. well, almost nothing.

she kind of looks at her friend with an incredulous, doubtful expression, a face that says a million things ( or at least she thinks it does, hopes that it bodes well for her future possible acting career ). the fact is that she’s not nearly good enough to be here, especially when she’s training as someone who’s supposed to sing songs on stage. and it’s not lost on her that plenty of pretty, more talented girls want to be in her position, but then again she’s not sure if she really cares — she’s the one here, and she’s not about to give up her spot for anyone so she doesn’t dwell on it. it’s good enough to know your own worth as well as your shortcomings.
“i think i’m pretty bad.” she says it matter of factly, because there’s no point in going around it when it’s the truth. in all honesty, she doesn’t even like singing that much, especially not when compared to rapping and especially dancing. “the vocal trainer keeps complaining that i don’t support enough or something. i just have a weak diaphragm, what can i say.”
“anyways, it doesn’t matter because you’ll be the one singing this time, so we can’t sound bad.” and she supposes her rapping is alright, at least okay enough that they won’t mess up the evaluation because of her.

rose looks across to lisa, a thin-lipped smile on her face. lisa wasn’t the greatest vocalist at royal, but she certainly wasn’t the worst. rose always thought the younger female was sort of sponge like, that, and she always looked good no matter what she did. lisa had the potential to actually get good, but rose understood why she wasn’t game. at least she was a competent dancer and rapper. “well, you’re not that bad.” rose says, correcting herself. “you’ve got dancing and rapping on your side at least, that’s something. i don’t even have that.”

it feels strange to rose, knowing she has to sit for an evaluation and just sing. it feels too stripped down, not theatrical or bold enough. she figures it’s just because that’s what she’s become used to, what she’s had to step away from. but, of course though, the companies want their trainees to be dynamic, to be able to make people feel different things. being enthusiastic and energetic on stage will only ever get you so far. rose wishes she could be accompanied by her guitar for once.

she chuckles awkwardly, brushing her light brown locks back out of her face. there was pressure on her. it was easier when it was just rose alone, singing but there was someone else now, and she couldn’t afford to let lisa down since they were in on this together. “i’ll do my best to not ruin the performance for us.” she glances back down at the lyric sheet in her hand and sighs, pursing her lips together. “these lyrics are so cheesy.” she mutters.

OH MY SUMMER.

despite rose’s suggestion that the royal boys ( the few that would actually be able to attend, that is ) most likely not enjoying the idea of throwing on face masks and relaxing for a little while, yoojung just shakes her head – well that’s just too bad for them. i’ll tell them it’s part of the whole bonding thing, they can’t say no, then. she says with a nod. plus, despite their impending resistance, face masks are fun and they make you feel good afterward. i’ll slap a mask on any one of their faces. she says with a chuckle and smile. it’s choi yoojung-required. therefore, they’re gonna do it. otherwise i’ll pout at them, that ‘ought to make them try it out. ” she says.  i’m doing them a favor. she points out before chuckling as they entered the aisle they were looking for.
yoojung can’t help but nod at that; believe me, i would probably cry if i ended up forgetting sunscreen … she sighs. but … probably mostly because i’d turn as red as a lobster if i didn’t. and i don’t really feel like getting burned … or worse … she sighs, pouting – we’ll bring extra then – i’m sure it’d be appreciated anyway. you’re right, someone’s gonna forget. she pauses, i’ll make sure to text you to make sure you don’t forget, unnie, she says with a light smile. wouldn’t want your pretty skin to get all red.  she chuckles, nudging her slightly.
when rose points that she needs a new swim suit, yoojung has a realization. i … don’t even know if i have a nice swimsuit. or … one at all. she murmurs, blinking. so we’ll definitely have to stop by and do that before we leave. she chuckles – although she can’t totally control the anxiety that seeps through her at the realization she’d actually have to wear said swimsuit in front of people, but she’d deal with that when it came time. plus, she had rose there to make sure she looked good.

the corners of her mouth turn upwards into a smile. what was the harm in trying out a face mask with everyone? sure, they looked a bit silly but they did wonders for the skin. besides, yoojung had a point, they were super good for your skin. rose was excited to try out all the different sorts of face masks they had to offer. her schedule was so jam packed that face masks weren’t really a thing in her nightly routine. “you’re doing them a favour indeed. i’ll back you up, okay?” she says looking at the younger female, a twinkle in her eye. she throws her a thumbs up.

rose nods firmly. sunscreen. they need sunscreen for sure, and someone is going to forget, it’s going to happen. “we’ll buy extra. if we don’t you can bet someone is gonna forget.” she mutters. lobster red wasn’t yoojung’s colour, nor rose’s. at least the both of them were big on keeping their skin looking clear and healthy, not tanned. rose’s relationship with the sun really had changed. she presses the palm of her hands to her cheeks, pursing her lips. “aw, yoojungie.” she says. “let’s keep our skin looking bright and youthful for a long, long time.”

“...really?” rose asks, pausing, looking at the younger female inquisitively. well, fair enough. she probably didn’t get the time to go swimming, and the fact she had never been on vacation before probably didn’t help. rose gently cracks her knuckles. “then it’s settled, we’re going to be finding you a cute swimsuit to wear for this get away, okay?”

“this is the worst thing ever.” lisa grumbles as she picks up the lyric sheet in front of her, highlighted in large blocks for where she has lines. it’s mostly dramatics, because it’s clearly not the worst thing ever, but she can certainly imagine better evaluations. when their trainers briefed them on this month’s, they emphasized the emotion and the message behind the lyrics and to be completely honest lisa has never cared about that. what’s so important about the message behind the lyrics anyways? they’re not going to be ballad singers and most likely she’ll end up singing about how much she likes a boy so does it really matter?
for people like rose, this evaluation is probably easy, it might even be fun. it’s inside the comfort zone of people who like to sing but lisa is definitely not one of those people. in fact, she just recently even started liking how to dance, and she was trying to take baby steps to get to the singing but clearly she isn’t there yet. “i mean good thing i’m rapping because imagine i had to sing.” she did sing by herself a few evaluations ago, but that was different. there was choreography that she could use to make herself look a little better. but if it was just her and her voice she cringes to think about what the trainers would say. “another reason why we make a great team, right?”

rose mirrors lisa, fiddling with her own lyric sheet. the corners of it are dog-eared, her lines have been clearly highlighted with a pink marker. another month, another evaluation. she was relieved that she got to do another evaluation with lisa. they went months without performing together, so it was nice to do an evaluation together one month, followed by another the following month. she looks at lisa, giving her a thin-lipped smile. “it’s not that bad.” rose says, pursing her lips. her eyes glaze over the lyric sheets. the song they had chosen to perform together was definitely not lisa’s style or genre. but that being said, it wasn’t entirely rose’s either.

she rests her head in the palm of her hand, looking across to lisa. so, this really was out of lisa’s comfort zone. rose feels bad. but it was difficult enough to try and find a song with a decent rap portion. most were heavy on the singing, most were heavy on the acoustics although some were more upbeat and rose could deal with the acoustics for sure, given her affinity for playing guitar.

“you’re not even that bad of a singer, li.” rose confesses nonchalantly, the corners of her mouth turning upwards. she shrugs. rose guesses so, they balanced eachother out in a way. despite being polar opposites, the two fit together so well. “we’re a great team, i agree.”
