whatever the script says, I don't believe for a second that Dean didn't feel anything for Cas. They were in the middle of a battle as always and he simply buried the feeling of being in love, seeing how that didn't turn out pretty everytime.
Cas' confession was one of those /air is knocked out of your lungs/ moment. It was so real, deep and vulnerable that no one would be able to answer immediately within a minute. Dean didn't even have enough time to process or say anything back except when he felt like why does it sound like it's a good bye and not a simple confession.
Everything hurts though. I'm still crying for them after all these years, I want them to be happy. Cas literally gave everything and it's unfair that he was damned for it.
