“Almost. It’s a big word for me. I feel it everywhere. Almost home. Almost happy. Almost changed. Almost, but not quite. Not yet. Soon, maybe.”

letting a traumatized character have their happy ending where they can recover from their trauma will always be a thousand times more powerful than killing them off for shock value

Because I have seen people trying to help birds hatch by breaking the egg shell, please do not. The baby bird needs to suck up the yolk into the belly. The egg yolk which is netted with blood vessels, if the baby bird hatches too early or someone forces it out of the egg, basically you have an internal *organ* hanging out with unprotected blood vessels, which will kill the bird. Do not think you have to help a baby bird hatch, they need the exercise stretching and rotating to break out of the egg to be fully ready for living outside. Also the shell itself will be dirty inside, coated with the egg skin, residues from the egg liquids and also drying up blood vessels. If you break the shell too early, guess what you break? The baby is tightly rolled up in the egg. If the shell is mostly broken and only bits stuck to the baby you can use a wet piece of cloth or a cotton swap to soak the stuck bit and get it off the bird. Do not peel it off. This is an emu baby, it comes from a dark green egg, this is an ostrich egg, one that has been cleaned of its contents and dried to be put over an already hatched emu to make this video. Emu babies, like all birds, come out of the egg looking wet and need to fluff out. There would be no space to smash the egg, there is literally no room in the egg, it is all filled by baby. Nice trick, but never ever try and help hatch a baby bird if you do not know how…hatching takes hours which makes the baby ready for the outside world. Helping a bird hatch is delicate expert work.

Yeah, I figured it was a trick, but I never thought about people trying to really get birds out of their shells.  So don’t do that.
