This is true! The zoo where I volunteer (the illustrious Columbus Zoo & Aquarium) was one of the pioneers of this program.

Our zoo is known for raising cheetah cubs. Cheetahs have a terrible infant mortality rate and cubs are often rejected, so we get a lot of cubs to raise from all over the country (other zoos and sanctuaries, mostly).

The cubs are placed with a puppy friend when they are wee and small, so they grow up together like littermates. They play together, wrestle, and the dogs (yellow Labs) are so calm, friendly and well-socialized that the cheetahs take behavioral cues from them. When they meet new people, or go into new situations (which they often do, as ambassador animals for cheetah conservation), they check out if their dog friend is feeling chill - which he is - and then they know it’s okay for them to be chill, too.

Basically the dog is a service animal for them.

The cats need their dog friends less and less as they get older and more comfortable, but they still often hang out as grownups.

Our zoo does cheetah runs, where the cheetahs get to chase a lure and show off their speed. Often they’ll have one of the cheetahs run (we have like twelve cheetah), and then they’ll have one of the dogs do the run to show how much faster the cats are. People get a kick out of that. The dogs…let’s just say they try their best.

Its true I do lol, I got my broski’s Orange and Pink, but they live 1-2hrs away from me and I don’t really get to see them a lot. Basically once or twice a year! I wish I could hug all my friends though!!   1. What was the first video game you ever played? From memory??? Probably….either Pokemon Leaf Green or Animal Crossing GC? Those are the first two that popped in my head! Probably not my first but they feel like it!
  2. Are you a “ I don’t need to read the book i’ll jsut see the movie” type or a ‘The movie will never be as good as the book” type? Why? Honestly more so the “see the movie” girl than the “read the book” girl. I usually tend to watch way more movies than read books but If I really get into a movie usually i’ll investigate the book! The only two movies i’ve seen the book before the movie, was Harry Potter Series and the Lord of the Flies movie!
  3. IF you could rename yourself to any other name what would it be? Paprika, I just really love that name pf-
  4. What is the nerdiest thing you have ever done. Time to fess up! Well I wore a Pikachu onsie to a anime convention, where while my brothers had a body pillow covered with money I was watching a shit ton of anime while discussing DnD and weird plots to them? I think thats pretty nerdy!
  5. Would you fight 50 goose-sized horses or 5 Horse sized Geese? Horses, defiantly the 50 horses. They’re more lenient than Geese, geese are scary af especially if they were the size of horses!
  6. Are you a “chaser” or a “retreat-er” when it comes to relationships? Retreat-er. I’m very shy about that sort of stuff, so I tend to really lock up when it comes to anything about that! I hope to be brave one day lol.
  7. Now imagine with me. You are one of a few scientists and you have recently discovered a huge meteor is going to strike earth soon which will most certainly destroy everything. It is unavoidable. Do you tell the public or keep the information secret? I would want to tell the public, but I would rather let them live out their lives peacefully than to cause widespread panic. Though I would fight for the planet until the bitter end even if it was impossible!
  8. What is an event from your childhood that shaped you into the person you are today? Um let me think… To be honest its hard to pinpoint that to one place. Since its all the experiances that grow you into who you are. But If i can think of one time that certainly helped. It was on a summer night like right after my school consolidated with another school. And I had just met my best friends Jessica, Alaina, Jodie and Laci. We were having a sleepover and Alaina was writing these stories about us and “vampire boyfriends” that were fitted to us. And I just remember walking outside like at 1am with these girls running around trying to find our friend Jessica who really thought she was a vampire and was acting silly. And just, I don’t know it was fun and dream like and It really brought my whole ideal on everything out. Its hard to explain its one of those things you just had to be there for.
  9. What it your favorite meme right now, if if you’d like I really love the “tag yourself” meme and the whole like “ Oh you meant This? Its actually this? “ And each time its wrong and someone else continues it. I love that thing XD
  10. What time do you go to sleep at night? What time do you wake up in the morning? Usually at night it ranges from like 9pm - Midnight. I try to always lay down at 9pm but usually find myself watching TV and writing till I sleep. I tend to wake up on work days at 5:50-6am and on non-work days 9am!
  11. Post some pictures of your pet please. Cough em up! Or post cute animal pics that’s cool too.

1. I just dreamed of helping people, and that turned into being someone in the medical profession. Not that I’m smart enough to do that... now I’m just a nerdy engineer :3
