Cipher is a small-time thief making a living by hocking trinkets he’s picked from pockets or, in this case, pilfered from pirates. When he discovers that the ring he’s stolen is haunted by a long-dead pirate captain called Blackburn, he strikes out on the long and arduous journey of finding a buyer for the ring that’ll simultaneously make him filthy rich and meet Blackburn’s standards for a permanent host.
The Things We Do is a roleplay-turned-story, co-written by @riplae and @sycophantism. It follows the hijinks of Cipher and Blackburn as they adventure across the universe. There’ll be badass space pirates, creepy mad scientists, and adorable alien friends. What more could you ask for?

Hiatus
Alright kids, ever since finishing AIWNLAFTL (I literally have to recite the title in my head every fruckin time I write that god-awful acronym, lay me to rest), as you’ve surely noticed, I’ve been dead here! Besides one fic for a different fandom, my ao3 has also been deserted.
The reason is that I’m devoting all of my creative focus to writing an original story! I didn’t want to vanish without giving you guys an explanation, but this has been my dream for a good portion of my life, and I’ve finally got the momentum to see it through. I’ll probably be absorbed with this for the foreseeable future, and so fanfiction from me will be sporadic and, in all likelihood, short.
This isn’t to say I’m giving up fanfiction altogether, of course! I’m sure I’ll be back with season 2 of Osomatsu-san, lbr LMAO. But basically, I’m hibernating until at least then.
I won’t promise anything, but snippets or blurbs may occasionally find their way onto here or my ao3, perhaps as warm-ups.
You’ve all been pretty darn great to me, sticking it out with the huge lulls between updates and keeping my company when I needed ideas and input. You’re about the best followers I could’a hoped for. <3

i’m just imagining if fic writers streamed like artists do
- a blinking cursor on an otherwise completely blank word document
- red squiggles everywhere because your laptop doesn’t recognize any of the character names
- an endless trek through thesaurus.com trying to figure out the word that’s on the tip of your tongue that you just can’t remember
- typing a word, deleting it, 20 minutes pause while you try to come up with something better, then giving up and retyping the same word
- doing a quick google for research purposes and then accidentally ending up 30 articles deep in wikipedia with a new found expertise on Polish trade practices during the 1800s
- giving up halfway through the chapter and making PLACEHOLDERS IN ALL CAPS CUZ YOU CAN’T BE BOTHERED TO FIGURE THIS FUCKING PART OUT RIGHT NOW
- deleting entire paragraphs
- panicking and frantically hitting ctrl+z
- an endless string of G’s because you passed out on your keyboard at 3 am

Live-writing on Google Docs with an audience actually helps me sit down and write because I know there are people waiting for what’s next in the story.

Yeah no I definitely know what you mean about it being a little rushed. There was a lot more I wanted to get down before hitting the climax, but I couldn’t get it out so I wound up with what we see. umu
Ahhh I’m glad you like the line though! I’m pretty fond of it too, it felt good to write it down. One of those moments where you just sit back and think, “That’s exactly where that needed to be. That’s exactly the way I wanted to communicate that feeling.”
Aw man, that sounds super cool!! It feels really uplifting that just one line has hooked into your mind so deeply. Yes, of course you can use/adjust/revamp/take inspiration from the line!! I’ve had a handful of times where a single line or piece of dialogue has revved up my engines.

ok the risque jobs prompt is old as dirt, but I obsessively look through blogs I've newly followed and had this idea recently. It's not exactly a job, but Karamatsu or Todomatsu could DEFINITELY handle a Sugar Mama(Or maybe even Daddy). Karamatsu soaks up the attention like a sponge and Todomatsu just wants that green.
