My friend and her kids are in serious danger from her neighbours who are white supremacists. She moves mid January but she isn’t safe in the meantime staying where she is. We need to get her out of there asap.

Is there anyone able to pick her up/cover the cost of transportation for her, and/or house them for the next while, or cover the cost of a motel/hotel room for her?

I seriously hate I that I had to be doing this at such a really bad time as Christmas is literally two weeks away but I really need help right now.

Again I really hate that I’m making this post right now as it’s really a sensitive time but 20/20 has not been a fantastic year for me as I just recently lost my grandmother and great-grandmother to covid-19, give up almost all my savings just in order for me in my mom to move into a new home after the passing of my grandmother and now this is happening.

being brazilian and seeing american liberal discourse during the election cycle is just wanting to scream at them “voting alone does not prevent fascism” constantly. 

“if only everyone had voted trump wouldn’t be elected” we have compulsory voting and one of the highest voter turnout rates of the world and bolsonaro still got elected, there was still voter suppression, etc.

“voting third party means electing trump” we have a fucking system in place so if the election is close on the first go there is a second voting day in which everyone has to vote on only the two most voted candidates meaning no third option and STILL bolsonaro got elected (he went to the second voting day against the opposition btw and yet)

the point is that it doesn’t matter, fascists will manipulate and rig the system to get into power regardless so you can’t just settle for voting every two years and “slowly push them left” it just doesn’t work like that.

vote if you are willing and able but don’t pretend that alone is going to solve every issue and don’t demonise people who are already organising in more effective ways

Today, only one of the LMPD officers responsible for the death of Breonna Taylor was indicted on three counts of wanton endangerment. For firing into neighboring apartments. He is being held on a $15,000 bond. The other two officers are still employed by LMPD.

Today, Kentucky has confirmed that the life of Breonna Taylor did not matter.
