When ants die, a few days later they emit oleic acid, which tells the living ants to dispose of their corpse.

A myrmecologist named Ed Wilson discovered this and dropped the chemical on a living ant. It was immediately carried off, despite the fact that it was still moving, and clearly not dead.

“I’M GETTING BETTER”

Bring out your dead. Eh, close enough.

IM NOT YET DEAD SIR

You left out the part where the ant, believing HERSELF to be dead, stayed in self imposed exile in the ant graveyard until the acid wore off and she realized she was not supposed to be in the ant graveyard.

I got drunk a week ago and cut for the first time in about a year... I'm feeling really guilty and stupid. I'm in therapy, so I feel like I'm just choosing to fuck up. I have all the support I need, and I don't want to act like it's not been helpful. The only times I've cut since I was a young teen were when I'd been drinking a lot... Is this type of self harm typical? Kind of sporadic? I feel like I'm too old to be doing this again...

I’m sorry to hear you relapsed. Please don’t beat yourself up over this mistake. Instead look to what you can learn. You say every time you have self-harmed has been when you’ve been drinking so perhaps it is time to stop drinking! Remember alcohol changes the way you think, feel and behave. Yes, lots of people can deal with this but many people change for the worse when they are under the influence. If you’re one of those then it’s up to you to make a choice not to drink. Perhaps getting sober would be a good thing to discuss in therapy.

To answer your questions…yes, many people self-harm only when they’re under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Sporadic self-harm even when not under the influence is also common. It’s not true that all self-harmers are covered in scars and self-harming on a daily basis. There’s no upper or lower age limit on mental illness, but as adults we are much better developed to take steps to recover.

I hope this helps :)

You missed the best part. They weren’t even their sheep. This good pupper gathered up a bunch of random sheep it found somewhere on the countryside and brought them home for its human.

*whispers* the countryside is full of free sheep

hey im gonna need the story behind this

When I was like four or five I outsmarted the child proof lid on our jumbo sized Flintstones vitamins jar and ate like half the contents before someone caught me! Turns out child proof lids exist for a reason and it’s so dumbass kids don’t overdose on Flintstones Chewable Vitamins™ and have to get their stomach pumped and that’s how Fred Flintstone tried to kill me

A word on Anxiety and Anxiety Disorders.

Anxiety is that nervous, panicky feeling you experience when you are faced with something scary like an exam or a first day at college. It is the body’s way of dealing with stressful situations by making you feel more alert and having more energy. For most people, that anxious feeling goes away after a short period or once the difficult situation is over, and they begin to feel calmer again.

Everyone experiences anxiety at some point, it does not necessarily mean you have an anxiety disorder, however if the feelings are too strong or are there all the time it can be a problem. For some people their levels of anxiety can get to the point where it can have an impact on that person’s physical health, prevent them from going out and socialising or leading to other mental illnesses, such as Depression. Some people will feel anxious all the time while other people may feel extremely anxious in certain situations
