todd rundgren is from a town very close to mine and my aunt’s old long term boyfriend was a superfan of his and one day they were at a cafe or something and todd was there and her boyfriend chased him out of the place trying to give him his demo tape

i’m like this and then i wonder why i end up only surrounded by old people in my real life

it’s crazy when you make a character and then years later you meet someone who is exactly that character

i like meeting an album where it’s at. rather than thinking oh this part is too slow oh this part is too fast oh an intro should sound like this oh a closer should sound like this oh this part disrupts the flow oh this part doesn’t fit etc. cuz that to me kind of means you have an ideal album in your head that you’re comparing everything to. but if the artist rly cares about their music then they chose to put things the way they are for a reason. so i like to try and empathize with that. ofc not every album has enough care put into it to warrant that but still

i am a music first lyrics second kind of person which is prob why i haven’t gotten into a lot of those artists

why is there no beach boys song with a normal backstory

it’ll be the most simple 3 chord pop song and the history is like “we were awake for a month straight trying to record it and then the tapes were destroyed and we all screamed at each other and vowed to never talk again and started seeing new doctors who told us to rerecord it so we did and then 10 random people we never even heard of before filed lawsuits for writing credits and won 98% of the royalties”
