Ann and Donald Brown House, Richard Neutra, 1968

Hopefully one of these days someone will make a comprehensive documentary on the work of this prolific Modernist. Until then, only a few of his buildings can be explored cinematically - including the Oyler House, (in a dedicated 2013 doco) and the Lovell Health house (in the movies LA Confidential, and Beginners.) The Kaufmann House, one of the most iconic of all pieces of Palm Spring Modernism, appears briefly in the documentaries VISUAL ACOUSTICS (2011), and COAST MODERN (2012).

Red House (2016) by @extrastudio located in Setúbal, Portugal. This house is located in a small village in Azeitao, south of Lisbon. Protected by hills from the Atlantic Ocean, the area has a mild Mediterranean microclimate, creating the ideal conditions for growing grapes, producing some of the country’s finest wines.
