@friday-prompts for prompt “how are you still alive?” “Honestly, I’m just as confused as you.”
Bakudeku Drabble
Kinda proud I was able to whip this out tonight cause I haven’t been able to write anything for months 😁
“Deku!!” Katsuki screams as his friend’s body flies backwards towards the three-story building. But before he can move in that direction, the villain sent another more powerful blast.
Katsuki’s blood ran cold, and skin set afire as the building collapses in quick succession. His ears rang high-pitched to the loud bombs of the crumbling cement and screeching metal girders crumpling to the ground.
“Son-of-a—,” a fireball leaves Katsuki’s palms seconds before his words, sending the villain flying several yards to the ground.
“Take care of it half-n-half!”
The others can finish off the villain, because all Katsuki can think about is getting to his friend. He blasts over, landing on the pile of rubble, carefully treading the heaps of stone and metal so as not to shift it like sand. He screams for his friend as he begins to dig. By now, others like Ochako are on site slowly using her quirk to float the larger pieces.
“Deku goddamnit make a sound so we can find you!” ‘You better be alive or I’ll kill you again!’ Katsuki knows the chances his friend isn’t crushed by the building is slim to none, and for 40 minutes that appears true—
Time ticks by. More helpers jump in to sift through the enormously dangerous pile. Katsuki’s gloves are tearing from the jagged materials— oh, well, they can be replaced…
Katsuki shakes any negative thoughts away. Izuku was tough. They’ve been through worse… wait—
“Shut up and stop moving!” Katsuki snaps at everyone as he stays perfectly still listening— And there it is again!
Tap, tap, tap, Taaaaap, tap, tap, tap…
“There!” Katsuki scrambles in the direction of the sounds and begins digging.
It still takes the group of hero’s another hour to unbury their friend from the modern tomb. Once the final piece of broken concrete pillar is moved, Katsuki jumps into the small hole next to his friend.
Katsuki kneels down and helps his friend to sit up. “How are you still alive? You should be dead Deku.”
“Honesty,” Izuku scratches his head, “I’m just as confused as you are? My ribs feel broken though.”
“Pfft, stupid nerd, this is what you get for trying to fight a villain by yourself!
“Says the guy who always jumps the gun.” Izuku snips back painfully.
“Tch,” Katsuki returns with a grin. “And of course, you’ve got broken bones,” he rolls his eyes with no bite to his snickering tone. He stood up and held out a hand. “What am I gonna do with you Deku?”
