it’s a not for profit that’s gathering books, patterns, and other materials related to crafting that are out of copyright (or getting permission from copyright holders in some cases) in order to share them online. they scan items, clean them up, then make everything available for free!

free things are great, especially when you’re just starting to get into something. like oh, i’m supposed to spend money on this hobby i just picked up 20 minutes ago???

the first time i ended up on the site, i seriously spent hours just trawling through everything. there’s the usual suspects like knitting, crochet, embroidery, but there’s also woodwork, calligraphy, and books on things like how to mount and frame pictures. with cross stitch patterns, they also make modern charts with the dmc colour codes available.

ok so everyone has probably seen me mention it, but shit has been really, really bad for me the last year and a half. i started having petit mal and partial seizures, as well as nocturnal grand mal. it got worse, and worse, with clusters of at least 5 seizures happening most days of the week. no doctor would take me seriously until february.

so back in feb., i had a pretty bad petit mal episode at work, and after it had passed i went to drive myself home. the last thing i remember is turning off the main road into my neighborhood, blinking, and then i woke up in the emergency room about 6 hours later.

so what happened is that i passed out behind the wheel of my car, had a grand mal seizure, and ended up crashing into a brick wall a few miles from my house.

i'm lucky to have survived, but obviously my car was totaled, and i also had to quit my job and move back in with my parents. due to the severity, frequency, and difficulty treating my seizures, i haven't been able to get another job.

i think its so funny that alumni from schools like harvard and columbia that were there during the protests in the 60s-80s are expressing support for students currently protesting against the genocide in palestine, and random zionists that were NOT at these protests in the 60s-80s have the never ending audacity to tell these alumni "well thats different, what you protested was good and what they're protesting is bad." as if protesters against the vietnam war and apartheid south africa were not also demonized, arrested, brutalized, and even killed for their activism. history only remembers them fondly after the damage has already been done.

Another one I've heard is "Well, the protesters in the 60s were willing to take the consequences of their actions, which was good", and like . . . no, they weren't "willing" to be terrorized by police dogs, beaten, and blasted with fire hoses. They weren't like "This is fine. :)"

I had a Baby Boomer boss who would reminisce about how the cops would harass teenage boys and young men for being "longhairs". Meaning, for having long hair. That was it, that was all it took for the police to abuse you back then, looking SLIGHTLY different from what you were "supposed to". And those were the white kids! If you were any other ethnicity you faced even more oppression!

his name is toshiro 😭 lets also not forget that he has his own communication issues, in the opposite way that laios does- thats literally a factor in their argument, that his envy for laios's ability to express himself sincerely manifested as part of his distaste for him.

ig all this to say like, was their fight heart wrenching, especially when reading laios as autistic? absolutely. anybody whos ever been in laios's position knows how much it hurts to realize someone you thought was your friend doesnt actually like having you around, especially when they didnt tell you and you had no way of knowing due to not understanding their cues. but im begging yall to step back and see the nuance of this situation cause im gonna be real a lot of you are kinda just brushing over it acting like everything is toshiros fault and that hes a terrible person when in reality hes an average guy who really, really clashed with laios and it led to a very long misunderstanding due to their supremely opposite methods of communication. even laios and toshiro, after letting everything out in their fight, were able to come to an understanding and start a foundation for an actual friendship built on better communication
