Okay but the fact that AFTG, a selfpublished bookseries, therefore without any official advertising whatsoever, has been trending almost constantly for the last, like, five days!? And frequently at first place!? A feat several well advertised tv-series can't pull off!? Incredible. These books are so genuinely loved that it has spread from person to person without any help from a publisher. That is truly remarkable. Well done Nora!

Cassie clearly wrote Qoaad in a rush and it shows in its poor plotting and backwards character development. She also clearly took 5-6 years to write ChoG and it was amazing. TWP peeps are going to get an amazing book BECAUSE she's taking this time to let it soak in and marinate. Rushing = low quality books, so there is no reason to complain

I feel like people are approaching the Better in Black list from the wrong direction. It doesn’t feel like a popularity contest, but just Cassie writing what she *wants* to write. A lot of the couples in there are ones she may never get to write for again (wessa, jordelia, arianna and thomastair for example) and some which she might actually want to explore deeper (Luke/jocelyn and Sebastian/the seelie queen) and, yes a few populars too.

So, from that perspective, it makes sense why she wouldn’t write malec for now. They’ve been living rent free in her mind for over 6 years at this point. Even if she’s not actively writing TEC, she’s still gonna be thinking about plot points and what not. So, yeah, focusing on other couples makes sense.

I still need like 3-4 business days to recover from this disappointment tho 🫠

dont even get me started on how they reduced mai and ty lee as blind followers of azula that showered her with praise. or how they made zuko look like her example to follow when it was his banishment that made azula look down on him. or how they randomly tried to show ozai's care for zuko and a bit of a soft spot or care for his family. or how they made zuko fight him when the point of the scar scene was that he got it because he refused to fight his own father.

better yet, i could begin talking of how they took away katara's maternal attitude because it wasn't “fitting” for a girl her age and instead gave the role to sokka, who angrily tells her to grow up at one point, when it originally showcased the effects of the loss of her mother by trying to assume the position she left empty, while in the original show sokka did the same trying to fill hakoda's absence.

let's also talk about how they made hakoda look horrible when he criticised sokka's actions behind his back instead of supporting him with the idea of improvement to instead make ozai look like a better father. Or hey, wait, the scenes where everyone keeps blaming aang for having “abandoned” (even kyoshi) the world for some freaking reason???

suki head over heels for sokka right off the bat and stalking him around. june incessantly flirting with iroh. the whole cave of two lovers lore completely butchered. the omission of plot points to give priority to unnecessary scenes. the avatars being a bunch of a*holes that bully aang instead of guiding him. that random miniplot of roku with the small replica of the mother of faces????

what a ride

The thing about Katara is that she was angry.

She was angry that the Fire Nation killed her mother.

She was angry that her father left them.

She was angry that she was the only Waterbender left in the south pole.

She was angry that the only person her age was her brother, who constantly disregarded her interests and her role in the tribe.

She was angry that what little waterbending she knew, had to be self-taught and how she struggled with that.

she was angry that a twelve year old instantly picked up what had taken her a long time to learn.

she was also angry that her tribe wanted to kick that twelve year old into the wilderness over a mistake.

she was angry over the earth-benders the fire nation had captured and put into a metal box.

she was angry.

And she knew she was angry.

Because she knew her own anger, she was the first to empathize with Aang when he got angry.

And it was because of it she could tell Aang forcing himself to lock his emotions up was not the answer.

Because she knew her own anger, she kept herself under control in the dessert, when everyone else was a mess.

Her anger empowered her. where anger was a tool of self-destruction for firebenders, for her it was what helped her push forward.

It was her anger that freed Aang.

It was her anger that helped her stand to Pakku.

Her anger was her strenght.

She was angry. And this was neither a mistake, nor a writing flaw.

Alright now this pissed me off

What do you MEAN you're going to remove one of the most important aspects of Sokka's character arc in the first season? What do you MEAN you're going to remove Sokka unlearning misogyny, accepting change and embracing his role as a fighter and protector of the Avatar in order to end the war? What do you MEAN???
