Hello There!

Okkkkkk let’s do this again! This here is my little corner of Writeblr. Welcome if you’re new and hello if you’ve seen me around before! I used to be @viawrites-andacts, took a MASSIVE break because of Life, and then wound up back here because I wanted to. However, do be warned that I’ll likely be less active than before and also I may well go MIA at some point.

Anyway...who am I?

My name is Low (like the last syllable of Yellow) or Via (vee-ya) (I don’t have a particular preference between the names, though for the purposes of ease I’ll mostly be using Low on here) and my pronouns are they/she/he! I’m intersex, nonbinary and my sexuality is [screams incoherently] (No but generally pan, though romantic vs sexual I’m still figuring out). I’m autistic, a christian and a writer, actor and dabbling artist! I’m in my late teens-early 20s (play a guessing game gang) and in my second year of University, studying Applied Drama (so basically using Drama in community contexts and to help people).

Alright folks I've been meaning to try and make a comeback. We'll see how well this goes, HOWEVER.

Need the dopamine flow/accountability for writing today, so I figured I may as well make the comeback a writing liveblog!

I have roughly 7 hours of travel today, some of which will be spent on a plane, timings all dependant on things running on time. I'm hoping to spend quite a bit of those writing!

Right now I'm posted up in the airport waiting for bag check to be available. I do not have snacks yet but plan to obtain them shortly. I'm gonna be sprinting, and working on The Paper Round the Worlds.

Creative Reading and Writing in Autism, First Edition, a book I've co-authored with my University mentor about the projects we've both run recently with fellow autistic folks, exploring and expressing through shared reading, creative writing and performance, releases in February next year. With contributions from my Fantabulous participants and all sorts of wonderful creative contributions, we aim to show how important creativity is to neurodivergent folks, and challenge the perception of us all as logical robots.

We ONLY get money from the proceeds on this; there is no advance because it's a very small publishers and it's a research book, so if you Can grab yourself a copy, it would be appreciated SO much. You can pre-order right now! (Amazon I know but it's the only link I have rn)

Uni third year hates any of us having time for anything at all. And I've got diss and a massive project coming up next semester, but in the meantime I have a few weeks where I'm not necessarily go go go on assignments etc.

So I am tentatively (??) Back (??) For a little bit (??) Idk we'll see how well the brain responds to notifications lmao

This is an incredibly perfect question for SuperGate so thank you!! And sorry for the Friday response.

In this book, when they're made into Superheroes, they rapidly become a major focus of the media and they all end up being celebrities and social media comes as a big part of that.

Phoebe hides as far away from social media as possible, she hates the attention and for good reason (she has very controversial powers). I don't think she'd even have Tumblr for herself.

Aster has a major social media presence, but mostly sticks to Instagram, and uses it for mostly social justice reasons. He makes stories on the Daily campaigning and shares all the petition links and all sorts.

The system also have a major social media presence, though it's mostly Kelsey and Saskia who use them. They're TikTok stars and make videos about style/fashion/make up as well as making videos about them fighting.

David uses Facebook mostly and totally thinks he's cool for it 😂

Vox is the team's major serious presence, they run the team's social media after Amnah gets told off and they're very, VERY good at curating their own. They're not particularly famous I'd say, but they have a consistently excellent following and they can always be relied on to stay on brand and not follow the trends.

Amnah is very good at other people's social media but not her own, and she starts out running the team's PR.

Corey is a Tumblr hermit through and through, but runs one of the most famous fandom blogs out there, and his regular AO3 schedule is legendary.

Phoebe's favourite time of year is January/February because she likes cold weather and doesn't really enjoy too much sunshine, but she has a strong aversion to the commercialisation of Christmas. She doesn't really have a least favourite time of year!

Aster's favourite time of year is October because he's a Basic Pumpkin Spice And Halloween Bitch of a Gay, and also because it means the start of thick jumper season! They don't have a least favourite I don't think.

Kelsey's favourite time of year is July ish because it's her birthday, it's the middle of summer so there's no uni/school pressure, and it's easier to dress because she doesn't like wearing too many warm layers but she gets pretty cold pretty easy. Her least favourite time of year is January/February because it's the worst time of year for SAD

Alice's favourite time of year is April because it's her birthday and she loves getting presents, and also because things start growing and new life starts happening! She doesn't like autumn in general very much because it's so long to wait through after Summer before Christmas.

Saskia doesn't have favourite times of year because every month is party month and they love the aesthetic of pretty much every season

Newton's favourite time of year is early autumn and late spring because it's good walking weather and there's more to do in his vegetable plots

David doesn't pay attention to the passing of time enough to care, nor does he care about the aesthetics at all. He lives in a constant state of "WHAT THE FUCK IT'S [MONTH] ALREADY???" "Yeah, 2024 is going so fast huh?" "WHAT THE FUCK IT'S 2024???"

Vox's favourite season is also Autumn. They claim there's no particular reason, it's just preference, but they absolutely are not immune to the Pumpkin Spice Obsession, and they love putting in more and more effort for Halloween every year (their Halloween parties are Legendary).

Amnah's favourite time of year is whatever time of year it is at the time, every season and month she's like "oh I love this time of year it's my favourite".

Corey's favourite time of year is Christmas because he loves spending time with the whole family and celebrating!

Ooooh this is an interesting one. Trying to think of who I don't talk about on here much...

I think I'll probably use this to introduce Corey. He's a brand new character for SuperGate: A Pow Wow Disaster, and honestly I'm rapidly falling in love with him.

All the main characters of SuperGate are Theatre Kids, most of them are at Uni studying something related to theatre or recent graduates from that. (Because arts students are superheroes anyway, we're used to making do and mending, we know ALL about [megamind voice] PRESENTATION, and they're gonna be good at one-liners).

So Corey is going to be their mentor in the latter half of the book, and he's a ex-Theatre-Kid, and the gang are going to spend FAR too much of the time they're supposed to be spending fixing their public image and saving the world on trying to get him back on the stage. He's a thirty-something dude who lives in his mum's basement, but he's actually genuinely passionate and lovely he just hasn't been given the opportunities to show it! He's a REAL nerd, loves Pokémon especially, really into Marvel (which is great for him becoming friends with Actual Super Heroes) and he's just. So excited about everything. The True Hype Man, he wants to be the Team's Ned from Spiderman and he absolutely delights in every single cool thing they do!

Anyway, he's still a little unformed, but I LOVE him.

Mostly with heavy sarcastic humour. They often joke about stuff they shouldn't joke about (and if the images in my head come out on the page, which is a little unlikely, being a Pantser, that may well get the whole team into big trouble about joking about collateral damage), and while they can be cynical, they usually cope with humour!

Other than that, they're very independent and sometimes have a tendency to isolate themselves, but when they're under real stress they will usually go to talk about it with David or Phoebe.

Phoebe: underpacker, because she doesn't need much, and she's kind of a minimalist. She can't leave the house without snacks, and her favourite pair of shoes is her real pair of converse (they're grey, but they're genuine, and she loves 'em)

Aster: overpacker, absolutely, but mostly because he packs for everyone else (i.e. he will bring all sorts of extra clothes and comfort items for Phoebe because according to them, she never treats herself). He can't leave the house without a thick jumper and their favourite shoes are their slippers.

Kelsey: overpacker, she overaccessorises and layers every outfit so she needs so much with her. She can't leave the house without a choker on and her favourite shoes are the black docs she drew daisies all over in white out and highlighter.

Alice: doesn't pack for herself, she gets Saskia or Newton to do it. She can't leave the house without a soft toy and her favourite shoes are bare feet 😂

Saskia: overpacker, mostly alcohol 😂 can't leave the house without the most elaborate sunglasses even on a rainy day, and their favourite shoes are wellies

Newton: packs just right for going away, but an overpacker for the day to day -- can't leave the house without like. First aid kit, snacks, spares of everything (including stuff he doesn't use but his friends do), at least three portable chargers...that's the vibe. His favourite shoes are like. The sturdiest, most durable walking boots he owns

David: underpacker. Will pack 3 t-shirts and one spare pair of underwear for like a 3 week trip. Yes it's gross, no he doesn't care 😂 can't leave the house without a dangly earring, and his favourite shoes are Whatever Makes The Chronic Pain Less On That Specific Day

Vox: overpacker, but in a very normal way. Can't leave the house without their hair arranged, and their favourite shoes are all the like 15 pairs of fake Doc Martens they own.

Amnah: overpacker, but extremely organised about it. Can't leave the house without her phone and her favourite shoes are whatever goes with the Hijab that day.

Corey: underpacker, rarely leaves the house but can't leave without some sort of nerd t-shirt on, his favourite shoes are his Pokémon crocs.
