Just chasing the dream. And donuts. And the elusive 3:45 marathon.

Haven’t received the official rejection email for Chicago but this isn’t a good sign. I was wanting to run it one more time now that I live here. Kinda bummed.

If you like energy drinks AND carmel apples, go get you some Alani Witches Brew 😋

Obligatory Chicago Marathon entry. This year they’re offering a refundable registration so why not?

💥💥💥 sign up time begins next week!😏

I’ve lived in Chicago since 2019 and I finally know most of these neighborhoods. I HAVE to run this race one more time now that I’m a Chicago resident. If I get in, this will be my final marathon. I just don’t have it in me to keep up that training schedule.

I have let my running go during Covid. No races meant zero goal to chase to follow a training schedule. I miss it. Running brought a passion/drive towards a goal that I haven’t been able to replicate. I feel sort of lost. Like just going through the motions of life with zero direction. I want the structure of a training plan, a goal race, and a goal time.

Came across this note tucked away in this book in a thrift shop. Would love to know the backstory!

Enterprise Rental is usually more expensive than other rental car places but I get free upgrades about 50% of the time. If you don’t absolutely need a larger car, reserve a compact but request satellite radio. Most of the time they have to upgrade me because they don’t have that size car with XM in their inventory. This time I had my choice of this ugly Challenger or choice of minivans. Checked the weather for MN and naturally it called for snow. Not my wisest life choice but this car sure is fun to drive (on dry pavement).

Sunday was probably the last of our good running weather days for awhile. I’m focusing on building my endurance back up, the speed will get there. Or maybe it won’t. I’m okay either way.

I’m turning 50 in 2021 and am contemplating entering the lottery for the Chicago Marathon. A 3:45 race seems out of reach but I’m thinking it’s 2021 or never. The drawback is if the race gets cancelled due to covid, any race refund is staggered depending on how close it is to race day. My entry could get deferred to 2022 but I’d be out $$$ and have nothing to show for it.

Not an Insta-worthy Christmas tree but adds a comforting homey feel to these four walls I spend most of my time in.

Chicago is like a deserted wasteland. NOBODY was out along Michigan from Roosevelt until Randolph. Crazy, it would normally be packed with shoppers and tourists and the drummer boys. In the past the only way to get a shot of the Bean without people would be to get up at the crack of dawn. Now it’s all barricaded off to prevent people from gathering. The further north Scott and I walked the more people we saw but not nearly what would be considered normal. I still love this city but it makes me sad to see it this way. I hope it can recover back to its glory.

Puppy paws and OMG how does this dog have such long eye lashes?! I’m jealous.
