You shoot the elderly lady behind the counter a soft smile and thank her when she hands you the change, her gentle eyes constantly roaming your face before her gaze meets your boyfriend's, who's been rather silent since the two of you had left the restaurant about fifteen minutes ago.
"What a beautiful couple you are", she says and chuckles when the two of you grow flustered from her compliment, Jake smiling brightly and placing a soft kiss on your temple to hide the blush on his cheeks.
"Thank you, ma'am", you quickly reply, tightening your hold on your boyfriend's arm.

The sweet smell of candy fills your nostrils, loud laughter and cheering being heard around you. You tried focusing on the tall male standing in front of you, admiring how beautiful he looked under the bright lights of all the rides. He took a small piece from your shared cotton candy, smiling at you. You shyly returned the smile, also taking a bit from the fluffy candy. Letting the sugar dissolve in your mouth.
“We should go try out the haunted house next,” Ni-ki said excitingly. You hesitantly nodded your head in agreement, not wanting to take away his joy. He pulled you on the arm, walking towards the haunted house. Your heart is pounding in your chest, the thought of ghosts already being enough to scare the life out of you. “We’re here” you looked around, seeing the big black building in front of you. The house is decorated with skeletons, zombies, witches, and scarier creatures.
Ni-ki looked at you, seeing your pale face wandering around. He started to feel bad for making you do this. You were being kind, saying you were okay and wanted to do this. Ni-ki wasn’t convinced as you were stuttering the whole time you tried to reassure him that you were fine coming with him. “Are you sure you want to come with me?” sighing a ‘yes’, you were determined to tag along with him. He nodded his head in agreement, this time walking towards the entrance. Without thinking, you stopped him by pulling his arm.
Ni-ki stumbled back a little, surprised you had such strength. He looked down at you, being met with a pair of fear-filled eyes. “Will you please hold my hand” speaking with a low voice, feeling a little embarrassed at your small request. A soft smile plastered on his face as he gladly took your tiny hand in his larger one. All your fears were washed away as you felt safe in his hold. Not letting you go off you, he made sure to protect you till the end of the ride. But he made sure to tease the hell out of you once this date was over.
