Art summary for 2020

Due to a number of circumstances, my summary is a bit different this year!

I rarely managed to draw, but I did some other crafts and tried some new things, so I decided to mix them all this time. Also they’re in a random order, instead of going by months.

Drawing

Didn’t find much time and motivation to draw, but I did finish a few things. And I managed to do two collabs again. Hopefully I can get back to drawing more next year.

Sewing and crafting

This year, I made a lot of plushies! I started to make mochis and I love them a lot, way more than my old felt plushie pattern! And I made several little Ankylosaurus plushies~ Did some crafting here and there, trying some new things and getting inspiration from some YT videos.

Nail art

I really got into doing my nails this year. It’s something I wanted to do more often for years, but never took the time for it. After watching tons of videos, I also got some nail art supplies and now try some things from time to time~

Photos

Already started this the year before, but this year I’ve made lots of photos with my plushies. I just love putting them into different scenes, make little accessories for them and more. It’s fun and cute!

That’s it for this year, maybe next year I’ll find more time, motivation and energy to do art. There’s so much I wanna do~

Art summary for 2019

Before I start with my usual summary, this time I’ll first refer to some of my art goals posted at the beginning of the year.

Draw more often and practice more Welp... :’D This is certainly not what happened, but I clearly underestimated the workload that would come around with working on my thesis. Still, I managed to finish at least one thing per month despite some longer art breaks.

Collabs I actually did some more collabs this year! Thanks to everyone that did a collab with me, it’s always lots of fun. Hope I’ll be able to do more next year, there were several people I haven’t gotten around to work with yet.

Fanzines I actually made it into three more zines this year (one as pinchhitter)! All are still in production, but I can’t wait to see the results. For now I think I’m good in terms of zines, but if I find any really interesting ones, I might still try to apply to some.

Generally, I don’t feel like I improved a lot style wise. But I got more comfortable with colouring and am slowly developing a better sense for colours (at least I hope so haha). I also tried a lot more with backgrounds and compositions and tried to put more effort into that. But at the same time, I feel like it’s also important to make some “simple” pieces inbetween. Not every drawing needs to be a masterpiece with a detailed background!

As always, not many news in the OC department. That was to be expected though. But with HypMic, I found another fandom that gave me lots of inspiration to draw. And getting away from drawing lots of YGO for a bit helped me to improve on drawing hair a bit, which I’ve been struggling with a lot.

I think that’s it, let’s see what comes around next year~
