Here’s my FAQ!

I made this blog to try to ease some of the misunderstandings that lead people to dislike factkin.

I am factkin. My kintypes are Edgar Allan Poe, Peter III of Aragon, René Descartes, David Bowie, Caesarion, and Eminem. You can call me by any kin names!

My pronouns are they/them.

I am NOT the voice of the factkin community and most of what I say comes from PERSONAL EXPERIENCE.

All I ask is that you be respectful, and I'll respect you too. There are no stupid questions, and you can ask them as bluntly as you need to! I will debate with you in DMs and not publicly (because this is Tumblr and I don't want randos in the notes sending either of us death threats) as long as it remains respectful.

I would like to open this question up because I don't feel qualified to answer it! I don't know very much about the IRL label as I do not use it for myself. I think it has to do with alterhumans who experience delusions but I could very well be mistaken.

Can anyone who is an IRL help?

Anon, this is not a stupid question at all!

This is a rough situation and it's always difficult when people turn out to not be who we thought they were. The best thing you can do is remember that there's a difference between having them as a kintype and having done the things they've done.

I would recommend closing off the channel where you're receiving the hate. Turn off anons, close asks, block tags, etc. There is no shame in closing yourself off from cyberbullying. Try to relax and maybe spend some time offline.

Seriously though, there is no guarantee you will. The best thing you can do is just exist in otherkin spaces and be yourself! Hopefully you'll find someone <3

There is an actual answer to this question! Of course, this poll that I ran/am running is small and most definitely skewed, but it used some of the main reasons for being against factkin and the results were as follows:

19% said they were against factkin because they felt that the identity was a form of identity theft.

26% said that they were against it because they felt it was just a creepy identity to have.

23% cited that they felt factkinity was unhealthy.

15% said that they believed that factkinity was simply an impossible identity to have.

17% answered "other" and there was no write-in option because it doesn't work super well on Quotev.

So generally people are against factkinity because they just don't feel good about it. (Which, in my opinion is a terrible reason to be against an identity that someone else holds but I digress)

It is worth noting that in the same survey:

The majority (33% in this case as there were 4 possible answers) answered that they were closer to neutral than against factkin. On another question 42% of respondents said they were against all factkin, while 29% said that they were only against those with kintypes still presently living.
