I’m just very frivolous and I like to enjoy myself, and what better way to do it than on stage in front of 300,000 people? I just cook on stage! To me, playing in front of a big crowd - that kind of surge - is unequaled. The feeling I get from the audience is greater than sex. I love the excitement of it and I always feel that I want more - more more more. I’m just a musical tart! That’s my nature, but that’s not what I’m like in real life. When I come off stage it takes me hours to unwind and transform back into my real self. My character is built up of all kinds of ingredients and the Freddie on stage is just one element of me.

JOHN’S ROYAL FAMILY

For some reason, the bass player is often the quietest member of a group, and that’s certainly true of John Deacon. He’s the dark horse of Queen, and by far the most difficult to get to know.

There’s one story about John which the others in the group love to tell people, and which tells us a lot about him. While the group were hard at work in the studio, recording their second album, QUEEN II, John suddenly announced that he had to leave for a couple of hours, and slipped out.

The rest of the group carried on working, a bit annoyed at John’s sudden departure, and also bursting with curiosity to find out what on earth he was up to! They found out later in the afternoon, when John returned and admitted he’s been sitting his exams!

And a few months later, when QUEEN II was released, John found out that nor only had he helped the group to make a very successful album, he’d also passed his finals, and now held an honours degree in electrical engineering!

That sums up to John’s character. There’s a lot more going in on inside his head than you might at first imagine. To some people, he seems abrupt and sarcastic, but once you get to know him better, you realise that this is mostly due to shyness.

“I suppose I am the quietest member of the group,“ John told me. “I’m the most conservative one, anyway.“

And that also shows through in the kind of clothes John wears offstage.

The rest of the group are pretty distinctive. You’d turn round if you passed them in the street, anyway!

But John, you’d probably not even notice! He usually slouches around in an ancient blue zip-up cardigan, and only gives his hair the occasional despairing glance in the dressing-room before going onstage.

John is also the only member of the band who’s married, and he’s never happier than when he’s pottering around the house with his wife Veronica, and baby son, Robert. Veronica trained to be a teacher, and she and John met while they were at their respective colleges.

Robert is now nine months old, and, according to John, is a wonderfully good baby. And John himself is a very devoted Dad – as everyone who’s seen the two together knows!

“He’s already been to one or two of our concerts,“ said John, “and he seems to love the life backstage. So he’s not like me in that respect!“

Home for John, Veronica and Robert is a pleasant house in West London. “Originally I just had a flat in the house,“ said John, “but now we’ve taken over the whole house, and I’ve done some alterations to it myself.“

Being an engineer, John loves to tinker about the house. He’s always building himself little gadgets, or rebuilding existing ones! And it’s a joke within the group that he can’t bear to sit in front of the television set without getting up every few minutes to change the channel, adjust the colour or play with the fine tuning.

“As long as John has lots and lots of knobs to twiddle, and buttons to play with, he’s happy!“ Brian May once told me with a laugh.

Like Roger Taylor, John loves cars – both fiddling with them and driving them. Last year, they both entered for the Brands Hatch All Stars Race, and to their delight, John was first and Roger second!

“My own car isn’t anything like that, though,“ John told me. “It’s an old Rover, Which I’ve ad for ages now. It still goes pretty well though – I hotted up the engine myself!“

John also has a keen eye for details – although, unlike Freddie and Brian, his interests aren’t artistic. He looks after the group’s finances, and when they’re on tour, he fusses endlessly over the sound system. He also built and devised their monitor system, which is said to be one of the most sophisticated in Europe.

Nowadays, of course, the group have very experienced roadies to look after their equipment, but in the days before they’d made it big, you’d often find John down on his knees wielding a screwdriver if anything went wrong!

But perhaps the most surprising aspect of John’s personality is his sense of humour. At first, he seems a rather serious, solemn person, but half-way through a conversation, he’ll suddenly burst out laughing at some odd, private joke.

“I suppose my sense of humour is a bit strange,“ he admitted. “I laugh at things that the others don’t find at all funny. All sorts of things make me laugh – I love practical jokes for instance, and I like following people round and catching them unawares with a camera!“

But most of all, John’s idea of fun is playing with his baby son – and that sums up his attitude to life. He enjoys being on the road, visiting new towns and playing to new audiences every night. But all the time, he can’t wait to get back home – back to the two people he loves most in the whole world.

2019 is the year where we stop blaming AIDS victims for their deaths

👏Say👏it 👏louder 👏for👏the👏ignorant👏hoes 👏at👏the👏back👏

So acquiring a disease that only requires that you not make bad decisions in order to not acquire it, is somehow not your fault?

Weird flex, but okay.

my guy, you have it so wrong.

So first of all, the knowledge of HIV and how it is spread, isn’t always taught. This is obvious for the AIDS crisis back in the day, but it is still relevant now. You have to realise that sex ed isn’t always taught and that a lot of people don’t have the knowledge on how it is transmitted. This obviously results in both same and opposite sex couples who end up accidentally getting the disease because of their lack of knowledge. Lack of proper education is to blame here- not the people who made a stupid mistake.

There are also other cases which apply, such as if a condom broke, or rape. Granted, these are uncommon, but the people that get the disease from this are not to blame for their fate.

this doesn’t even mention the many other ways that HIV can be transmitted.

I don’t think I even need to explain why you can’t blame people from the 70′s and 80′s (especially gay men) from contracting the disease. If you need me to explain that, then you are almost completely uneducated on the subject.

I worked in the medical field for the past 5 years. I know exactly what I’m talking about.

HIV is one of the most easiest to prevent diseases on the planet.

Don’t share used needles, and don’t have sex if you have HIV.

That’s it. You couldn’t make it any more simpler than that.

The only way you could unknowingly be infected with HIV is if someone infected you willing.

The chain of infection has a beginning, and if that beginning doesn’t link a new chain, no new infections would happen.

HIV may not be as contagious as TB, but it kills just the same.

Yes you have the medical knowledge but what you lack is the compassion. You never should blame a victim of a disease for their illness.

That being said, HIV itself can remain dormant for an incubation period of 10 years before the infected person shows symptoms IF it develops into AIDS. so one may not even know they have AIDs itself unless they are tested.

And due to the stigma because of society some people don’t want to have the test because they know they may just be blamed for an illness that could kill them if not properly treated or looked at differently. They’ll be seen with less empathy because “you shoulda just kept it in your pants instead of having sex if you knew you had HIV.” So instead they decide not to get tested.

So I’ll say it again: NEVER BLAME VICTIMS OF ANY ILLNESS OF ANY KIND. ITS NOT THEIR FAULT.

If your victim status is directly a result of your willing actions, you deserve everything you get. If you’re a victim of unwilling happenstance, I can have empathy.

Compassion is earned in respect to the context of the situation.

Compassion should never be earned. Ever. it’s a given. We are all human beings and should be treated as such. No matter what our situation.

You would never blame someone for a mental illness so why the hell would you blame someone for a physical illness?

NO ONE DESERVES TO BE SICK. EVER. That is honestly the most inhumane thought process I’ve ever heard. Just like no one deserves to be murdered for their sexuality, gender, skin color or anything else outside of their control.

Congratulations on taking my entire stance out of context in order to fuel your echo-chamber.

Everything in life is earned. I don’t owe anyone a God damned thing. If I want to be compassionate, I’ll do of my own accord. Who are you to tell me what I can and can’t feel towards myself or others?

If you shoot yourself in the foot, the blame is solely on you. I’m not going to feel compassionate for someone’s self inflicted injuries.

There’s a difference between being a true and a false victim. False victims receive no empathy from me.

I’m glad you seem to be from Europe b/c that means I’ll never have a chance of being under your medical care.

Maybe they have better sex ed classes where you live, but in many parts of America, Republicans have legislated sex ed classes into being woefully misleading. I live in a state where we were taught “abstinence only,” as in the only thing we’re taught about sex is “these are STDs, they are bad, the only way to prevent them is to not have sex.” And while that’s mostly true (besides needles), it’s not remotely realistic & if you don’t happen to have a teacher who decides to take matters into her own hands & tell you about condoms, etc., you could end up totally unaware of safe sex.

So if you end up dating someone who used to shoot up & is HIV+ (but has no symptoms so even he doesn’t know), if you don’t know how to have safe sex, you could end up in trouble. It’s also passed mother to child, so if a woman doesn’t know she is HIV+, she could spread that to several children before realizing it. Similarly, mainly places in Africa have been & are devastated by AIDS due to a lack of education & some people who actually spread deadly misinformation. It’s also spread there by blood transfusions & other medical injections due to hospitals reusing needles due to a lack of supplies.

Besides, if you met a random person w/ HIV/AIDS, you wouldn’t know how they got it. It could be any of the possible ways with any of the possible scenarios that led to it. Even if someone is a “false victim,” if they become ill afterward, you can bet they’ll regret whatever they did to contract HIV & will be thinking what they could’ve done differently. If you believe in redemption or even simply changing your mind or your ways, it isn’t very hard to feel even some empathy for a person like that

also, some people lie to their sexual partners about having the disease. some people don’t even get it through sexual contact (blood transmissions, etc.,) it is literally free for you not to be an asshole and maybe be at least a little bit understanding and sympathetic, you should try it sometime.

real quick I’d like to point out how the only one saying that getting AIDS is the victims fault (which it is 738292% not) is the only blog in the thread that’s flagged…

With everybody justifying talking extremely sexually about musicians publicly with “I bet he would like it” it sounds just like people who justify teachers raping their male students with “oh I bet he liked it,” yall be fucking insane sometimes. If it was A: a woman, or B: anybody who wasn’t famous you people would be going insane over it but I guess it’s fine because they’re famous huh

Wait until you’re in the shoes of someone who has actually had people talk about you sexually without your consent and finding out about it, I hope you know how uncomfortable and disgusting it feels to have that happen to you and people learn to be respectful of other people’s boundaries.

I’m ace, so I don’t even read or enjoy any of the Queen smut, but it’s unfair to compare the rape of students to Queen fanfics. Firstly, the students are minors, so they can’t possibly consent. Secondly, with the students, it’s an actual, physical act or (if it’s a verbal or written threat of doing so) a realistic threat of a physical act. No one who writes Queen fanfics has any actual chance of having sex with any member of Queen. If someone starts saying they’re gonna track down 1 of them & try something, obviously that’s another story, but to my knowledge, that hasn’t happened on here. As for the woman part, I’m sure I’ve seen a few Lucy Boynton ones on here as I scrolled down.

It’s very different to talk or write about doing sexual things with someone you know personally or are around in real life because it’s either humiliating by revealing things you did with that person or threatening that the person would do those things to you. Famous people (18 or older) are in the public eye, meaning they’re open to being criticized or talked about. Really the only things I see as being taboo in terms of discussion are illness or questions/theories about their family & non-famous friends.

I’m not trying to start shit with anybody on either side of the question b/c I hate starting or getting involved in shit & I don’t even care about Queen smut. I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents.

RT’s lyric book Greatest Bits

Idea from Roger for ‘The Miracle’ track:

If every leaf on every tree

Could tell a story that would be- a miracle

Mozart said it all you know

With notes as pure as driven snow

If every child on every street

Had clothes to wear and food to eat

That’s a miracle

Open hearted surgery

Of mankind in it’s infancy

Santa Claus + the Christmas tree

The magic flight of the bumblebee

/So all the children could believe

In Santa Claus and Christmas trees

“open hearted surgery”

that’s “one trueligion” levels of lyrical fuckery
