okay i ALSO just double checked their ask posts just to be safe and they’re not even cis!!! i found an ask where they talk about being nonbinary and were speaking out against transphobia!!! this is literally a trans person we’re talking about! like there is REALLY nothing to indicate that this person is remotely a terf and we’ve gotta stop doing this. 

for that matter, even if this person actually was a terf, which they’re not, it’s not helpful to send this stuff with zero evidence attached at all. if you’re going to make a claim about an individual in order to demand other people disavow them, it’s the bare minimum you could do to actually back that claim up. the notion that we ought to be blocking people or cutting them off in any way based on unsourced claims is honestly a kind of disturbing one. like can you see how that norm can be used to isolate people who have done nothing wrong? 

i see this a lot, where someone will be sent an ask saying like. “heads up, [x] person you just reblogged from is [insert bad thing]”, and people will respond ‘oh shit sorry, i didn’t know’ and delete the post. no asking for evidence, no requiring it. just the mere fact that someone made an accusation is seen as enough for this. this is especially dangerous in a space where anyone can say whatever they want; meanwhile, actually asking for proof is seen as doubting people’s lived experiences. there are a lot of folks who i think are legitimately worried about being seen as supporting bigots by simply asking for evidence before disavowing and cutting a person off. that’s concerning!! so.. yeah, if you’re gonna send me stuff like this, including any actual evidence is the literal bare minimum

why should you change it?

When you guys pop up in our notifications, most seasoned tumblr users will suspect you’re a bot and block on sight.

why do we block immediately?

tumblr has a history of bots trying to infiltrate and establish a connection to a valid, existing blog in order to populate google searches. Simply liking or reblogging a post, not just adding a scam link to it, establishes this connection. Tumblr users don’t want this to happen, especially if it’s a scammy p*rn bot. So, we often block on sight.

So now I have to reblog stuff AND change my pfp?

Well, of course that’s up to you! I just want to explain why you may have been already blocked by an artist/blogger you may have discovered recently, and how you can avoid it in the future.

Reblogging does help creators more than likes because your reblogs will show up on the dash of those that may follow you. Plus, reblogging puts that post on your own blog, and in case the original gets deleted or edited by the OP, it’ll be on your blog like that–forever (or until you delete your blog). Nice.

Discord Hacker Warning

There is a hack going around and this is how it works:

They will tell you that they’ve been developing a game with their friends and ask you for help on it. They will send you a file to download it and once you open it your Discord will be hacked by them and you cannot do anything anymore.

I am not certain if they always use the same file but the one I received was called

If you see this please report and block the user you received it from.

They have taken 160€ out of my paypal with Discord Nitro (not sure what they want it for)

They may also contact you asking for you to vote for them to be a discord mod via a link. My friends were hacked through this method not long ago, and while they thankfully haven’t lost any money, the link is spreading like wildfire. Keep an eye out for any suspicious behavior. Always question a link or downloadable file, even from a friend, unless obviously you were expecting one.

Hacker bots are becoming more and more sophisticated, which really shouldn’t be a surprise given how far AI learning has come recently. Like the emoji use and everything. I’ve had 2 friends on my FL get hacked now, and both times it was essentially impossible to tell that they were. We’re past the days where every single scam is as obvious as a pornbot sending “S3XY PICs foR U DEAR <3333″ with some long ass sus link. Especially if you have friends who are interested in game design: hell, even people who are interested in just character design or things that could be used in a mod, it wouldn’t be totally out of left field to receive a .exe file, as that’s what most games run on (You just won’t notice if you mainly play games through a launcher). Don’t be a damn asshole. Keep an eye out for your friends, pass the message on.

4. If the car pulls up to you run in the opposite direction.

5. Walk with your keys in your hands and keep a key between each finger

6. If they put you in the trunk kick out the headlights

7. If you get lost find a woman with a child. Never ask a man for help (this one was drilled)

Entering an uber alone? Call your father (or anyone you trust) and say “hey dad! Yep, I’m almost there, I’m sending you the route.” outloud. Then proceed to send them the route so they can follow the uber drive. This will most likely intimidate the predator.

If you see someone in an uncomfortable or possibly dangerous situation, walk up to them and say “Betty, oh my god, I haven’t seen you in so long!”. If she gets slightly confused, you can whisper and let her know you’re trying to help and that she should follow along. Walk together to another station or away from where you are. The man will most likely not follow. I have done this one 2 times and can be very helpful.

If you are unsure she needs help, you can pass her a note saying something like “hey, I noticed this man beside you is making you uncomfortable. If you’d like help, fake a sneeze right now and I will come up to you and pretend we are friends.” This is a long note, but its an example. Be discrete. If she follows along, proceed with the previous tip. This is helpful when you’re in a crowded train and you notice harassment.

Help your sisters. Trust them. Trust yourself. Be safe.

Just saw a video explaining why putting a key between each finger is more likely to hurt you than them (the keys will just get pushed back into your knuckles). A better way to hold them is to get your longest key and just clench your hand around it, like you’re making a fist. That’ll give you a lot more force and means you can use them in more scenarios (if someone grabs you from behind, you can use the key this way)
