Marty & PTSD
All of the potentially traumatic events Marty experienced (in order) in the trilogy
- The Movies – When Doc is shot at the Twin Pines, Marty is shot at at the Twin Pines, shot at by Mr. Peabody, hit by his grandfather’s car (& knocked out), nearly killed by Biff and his gang (skateboard chase), nearly erased from existence (at the dance), sees Doc shot (again) at the Lone Pine, nearly killed by Griff (baseball bat during the hoverboard chase), threatened by (Hell Valley) Strickland, nearly shot by people trying to shoot (Hell Valley) Strickland, threatened and knocked out by (Hell Valley) Biff’s goons, learns of his father’s death in the Hell Valley timeline, (Hell Valley) Biff tries to shoot him, tunnel chase (he does die, but that timeline is overwritten), witnesses Doc in the DeLorean when it’s struck by lightning, Doc’s gravestone, chased by a bear and falls down a hill (knocked out), nearly hanged, the duel, the train
You could definitely argue that the events that take place within the comics and the game are, in part, a result of Marty’s reckless behavior post-time travel so with that in mind, here are a list of possibly traumatic events that occur within the comics and the game.
- The Comics – the drop from ½ mile up to time travel to 2035, Griff Tannen with the flamethrower, a lot of Griff trying to kill Marty in general and with a car, attacked and kidnapped by robot Martys (but he believes them to be alternate versions of himself, brought back to and left in 19654 BC where Marty is attacked by a giant cat
- The Game – Finding out Doc was killed in 1931 via newspaper, finding out Doc was nearly killed (a different way), Kid Tannen tries to shoot him and Doc, nearly erased from existence (again!), witnessing the violence against his family by the Tannens in the altered 1986, shootout with Kid Tannen, Kid Tannen tries to stab Marty, Doc is erased from existence, Marty crashes the DeLorean into a billboard, the whole Citizen Brown timeline ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh actually, when he thinks Emmett is going to jump off the clocktower and when Emmett falls off the clocktower, Citizen Brown tries to run over Marty, Citizen Brown dies and is erased from existence
