Thinking about the fact that Airplane planned to write Luo Binghe dying alone, unloved, and in glory.

There’s something poetic and tragic about the mirror image with Shang Qinghua as the writer appealing to the heteronormative mainstream for his livelihood; Shen Yuan as the casually homophobic and rich reader; and Luo Binghe as both the system’s (the story’s) power source and the desperate, lonely, love-starved queer protagonist trapped and tormented by the heteronormative narrative. And MXTX making Shen Yuan, the rich reader, the one who had to free and heal the queer protagonist by overcoming his internalized homophobia.
