Why do you make it seem like everyone who doesn't kneel is wrong? You can support BLM and at the same time decide to stand, like Chicago said.

No you can’t. If you only support BLM when you don’t have to sacrifice something or change the way you act, it’s not support. You can’t say that you support BLM because you have a slogan on your shirt and at the same time say that you won’t kneel because it goes against your beliefs or values.

If you can’t see what is going on and you can’t show support because you for once have to sacrifice something, you’re not a supporter.

Chicago is making excuses for players who don’t want to kneel because they only “support” BLM when it can coexist next to their beliefs and values. NEWSFLASH: your beliefs and values are part of the reason why racism exists so no they can never coexist.

If you think your beliefs and values are more important than the lives of innocent black people, you are not a supporter.

Go stand for all i care but don’t expect me to listen to your excuses about why your values and beliefs are important because you’re simply drowning in your own white privilege.

It’s a horrific tragedy what happened to George Floyd. I’m absolutely  furious that this is still going on today Black lives ABSOLUTELY matter. And especially right now more than ever. That is important to know. We’re saying that  'cause it’s imperative to understand that. If you do not believe that you are part of the problem. Understand that! If you do not think this is something serious, George Floyd’s murder, then you are part of the problem. I STAND WITH BLACK LIVES MATTER. It’s ablosulety not okay that this happened. This man (Chauvin) needs to answer for it! He needs to pay for his crimes! We CAN’T let this slide again! WE’RE DONE TALKING! IT’S ABSOLUTELY FUCKING HORRIFIC! AND IT NEEDS TO STOP! THIS IS NOT SOMETHING WE SHOULD JUST SIT ON! IF YOU DON’T KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT THIS YOU’RE LYING TO YOURSELF OR YOU’RE PART OF THE PROBLEM!

Black Trans Lives Matter

In June 9th, two trans women were killed in the United States

Their names were Dominique “Rem'mie” Fells and Riah Milton. Both of them were black and trans, and press has done little to nothing about it.

As a community that it’s demanding black people’s rights, this is a painful loss that should be more talked about.

All lives won’t matter until black trans lives do.

We say your name, “Rem'mie” Fells.

We say your name, Riah Milton.

Anyone who thinks that we’re exaggerating with this movement, think again. Lives have been lost through cops being racist and transphobic, and now we’re done with letting them take away wonderful people just because they want to.

This is not only something the US should concern about. This is OUR fight, and we all must defend their rights until the battle’s won.

Justice for “Rem’mie” Fells

Justice for Riah Milton.

Justice for all the black trans people who have lost their lives.

We are not gonna remain silent.

Not anymore.

THIS IS NOT A DEMOCRACY!!

People in Aurora, CO peacefully protesting the murder of Elijah McClain. They are sitting in the grass literally listening to violins being played in his honor. And the fucking Gestapo is unleashed! WTF!!

Why are the police militarized against tax paying citizens!! White men with guns can storm a Government building in Michigan and THEY don’t get this sort of treatment!?! And I don’t want to hear shit about looting & rioting because CLEARLY that is not what’s going on here.

I say again THIS IS NOT A DEMOCRACY! This is a corporate-run plantation where we are expected to consume and comply only.

Let's talk about Elijah McClain. Elijah McClain was a 23 year old black, autistic man. He spent his free time playing violin to shelter cats. He was murdered by police in 2019.

Someone called 911 bc they saw him "wearing a ski mask and waving his arms" he was stimming.

This man died bc they saw his blackness as a weapon. He also died bc they saw his neurodivergence as a threat. As suspicious.

Cops are grossly undertrained in handling anyone. But especially those with disabilities.

I am furious. I am furious abt how many black people are dying at the hands of cops and i am furious that someone took this man's neurodivergence as a threat. And I am angry that I as a white person can peacefully stim in public with virtually no reprocussions (most of the time) and this man died bc of it.

The judge that signed that warrant was complicit or maybe a warrant was never issued.... either way the indictment of Breonna Taylor’s murderers would expose the deep-seeded structural Racism in Louisville’s system.

Many more people than those cops need to go down for Breonna Taylor’s murder.

It’s so significant too that this narrative was collected by Zora Neale Hurston, one of the greatest authors and anthropologists of her time. She was shunned by the “gatekeepers” of both of these professions, largely because of her Blackness, her womanhood, and her uncompromising commitment to honoring and showcasing both in her works. She died penniless and alone in a state-run institution in 1960. All of her works had gone out of publication by then. It took more than a decade before she was rediscovered. A young author by the name of Alice Walker had come across her work and was deeply inspired by it. “In 1973, after an exhaustive search, Walker came across Hurston’s unmarked grave in Ft. Pierce, Fla. She purchased a headstone for Hurston’s tomb and had it inscribed “A Genius of the South.“”

It is through Zora Neale Hurston’s pioneering sacrifice, and the acceptance of that inheritance by Alice Walker that we have found this missing piece of our history. Without the courageous and unfailing work of Black women, we wouldn’t have Cudjo Lewis’s story. We are slowly regaining a narrative that’s been hidden from us, one that continues to be lied about. Trust Black women to lead the way.

1. So happy to see a post about Zora Neale Hurston, she was an incredible human.

2. the ONLY reason this ship was illegally transporting slaves was because a wealthy Alabama businessman named Timothy Meaher bet his friend that he could evade authorities in landing an illegal shipment of slaves. For no other reason than amusement, this man is responsible for transporting 110 unwilling bodies and selling them into slavery. Turns out Meaher was caught by authorities, but he was never charged, thus, he won the bet.

Things get a little more complicated when we look at the geographical details of this case. The piece of the Mobile Bay that the Clotilda was kept and reportedly ‘sank’ was owned by the Meaher family. It’s undisclosed but confirmed knowledge that Meaher burned the Clotilda to cover his tracks. But hey, that’s heresay.

When the Clotilda brought the stolen Africans to Mobile, they were kept in a holding tank of a neighborhood before they were sold. The residents of this holding tank did the best with they could in their situation, and the area soon became known as Africatown. They made a cultural community, a permanent home, and a refuge just hundreds of feet from where the Clotilda had brought them.

Decades later, the Meahers built a paper mill on the shores of the bay snugly next to Africatown and Plateau (neighborhood above Africatown). It was great for the residents- they had jobs again, a steady source of income that they’d pretty much never experienced. However, years of left-over chemicals and toxic waste from the mill have caused skyrocketing cancer rates, and the average life expectancy of residents is age 65. The paper mill is no longer in use, and the Meahers took the easy way out by bulldozing the mill instead of following state/government protocol to shut it down safely. Of course, the Meaher’s lawyers are protecting their millions of dollars while these poor people suffer. They were stolen from their homes, enslaved, and have known nothing other than poverty. It blows my mind how people can ignore the socioeconomic effects of slavery to this day.
