i get that writeblr is looking for ways to innovate, to showcase a more broader sense in writing and to levitate from just writing/talking about wips. poetry is a huge component when it comes to creativity but in a way it’s becoming stagnant to me?
just to get things out of the way, i’ve been in this community since 2018, so i’m pretty old school but anyways, i need to talk about what’s going on lately.
i’m not really sure how to put it but, chapbooks is one thing! currently i’ve been keen on observing trends as they come and go in the writeblr community but one thing that really bothers me (i’m not saying it’s a bad trend or you should stop doing it), what i’m trying to say i am tired of seeing it become hip and trendy lately, instantly making one popular and talented because of it.
on the flip side, it really hurts people who are actively trying to get their wips or brand out there because they didn’t make a chapbook. to be fair, it isn’t really damaging but it’s a slippery slope from what i’m seeing.
to end this on a positive note, i really wish i could see more originality, don’t push yourself to follow a certain trend. that being said, this goes along with me seeing dark academia wips then later (east) asian wips as a trend before chapbooks make its mark.
If anyone has ANYTHING writing related that they’d like for me to reblog, again, please please don’t hesitate to let me know! I’m not gonna catch everything y’all post <3 sending love!!!
