‘What did you do?” Of course the first thing she would do was accuse Imogen of doing something. Linda didn’t like this at all. Even she knew that this wasn’t like Eric. Not unless her plan was actually working and maybe he was with Alexa. But still he wouldn’t miss this. The older woman knew that. “Yes, you do that.” She rolled her eyes towards Brooke. The woman had resources and she was just now calling her wife? She had already called Arthur and Molly to see if Eric was with them but he wasn’t and he hadn’t checked in with them. And this worried her more than words to describe. It was bringing back the stuff with Alexander, and the first time that had been kidnapped and thought dead. “I’ll check his iWatch and make some phone calls.” She grabbed her phone, and started to pull up the FindMy app. Even though she had no idea he actually didn’t wear the watch. // @imogen-ford

Imogen glanced towards Linda as she put the phone to her ear, narrowing her eyes slightly. God, that woman pissed her off. She still didn’t want her anywhere near her children to be honest. “Yeah, thanks.” She directed towards Brooke, ignoring Linda again. No answer and she sighed as she hung up the phone again, texting him instead. She looked over at Linda again. “Don’t bother. He doesn’t wear it.” She muttered back at her, moving over so she could be closer to Richard again and wait for Lauren to call back.

Brooke wanted to go all cage fighter on Linda, but she knew that wouldn’t help anything at all right now. The blonde remained on the phone with her wife, moving away from the others as well. She talked to Lauren for a few before returning to the younger blonde and the other woman. “She’s on the way to the newspaper now.” She told them both. Wanting to keep them updated as much as possible. Especially Imogen, she hated seeing her like this. The worry on her face.

Lauren nodded, finding her keys and turning for the door. “Yeah, it doesn’t sound like him in the slightest.” She agreed, heading outside and over to her car. She got in and switched her phone over to hands free as she pulled her seatbelt on. “I’ll get him, I’m sure he’s lost track of time or… something.” But she knew he would have been counting the minutes for this. “I can imagine.” Lauren could practically picture Imogen right now.

“Not at all especially when it comes to his family. He has always been there for them. And I don’t think he would stop now.” Brooke moved back over to Linda and over to Imogen. “Linda said he had a smart watch but Imogen says he doesn’t wear it.” Which she fully believed cause it was rarely seen it on him. “I hope that is it.” She really hoped that all it was. “Thank you again.” She just hoped that Lauren would get to him and he fell asleep at the office or something like that last night. “It would be like if you went missing on me.”

Lauren rummaged through some of the papers in front of her as she listened, though she paused when Brooke said they were still at the hospital. She kind of expected them to all have been home by now but maybe there was a little something else the doctors needed to do. Then she asked her to check on Eric and Lauren frowned, focusing her entire attention on the call. “Really?” That was worrying because if Eric was one thing, it was reliable. Lauren figured he would call Imogen if he was going to be late, or he would have been in contact if he was away for a long period of time. “Yeah, yeah… okay.” Lauren stood up, looking around for her keys. “I’m gonna go over there right now. I’m sure everything’s alright.” She added, to reassure her wife. “Is Imogen okay?”

Brooke had expected to be home by now as well. Sighing a little bit, she glanced over at Imogen again. “Yeah really. And it isn’t like him at all. Please.” Eric was very reliable. He always had been. “Thank you, baby. So much.” She moved away from Linda and Imogen for a moment. “No, she isn’t. She is freaking out a lot even if she is trying to hold it together.”

Lauren: She answered the phone with a smile when she realised it was Brooke calling. “Hey, you! Is little Rich home yet?”

Brooke: She smiled also, before glancing over at Linda and Imogen. “Hey, baby. Not exactly. We are still at the hospital. I need a big favor. Can you go and check on Eric please? He’s not answering his phone, and last time Imogen seen was yesterday morning.”

Imogen didn’t really want Linda here at all but somehow the woman just wouldn’t stay away. So she did her best to just ignore her and act like she wasn’t there at all. Imogen paced up and down the hall a little, getting antsy. Where was he? It wasn’t like him to be late for something like this and every second that ticked by made her more anxious. “Something’s happened…” She murmured, turning back to her mother before glancing in towards Richard. She just wanted to go home. Imogen pulled out her phone to try calling him again.

Brooke hated Linda with a passion, she wanted to go over there and smack her. But now wasn’t the time for that. Now was a time to focus on Imogen and Richard. She watched as her daughter paced, glancing at  her watch. Imogen was right. There had to be something holding him up. Something had to have happen. This wasn’t like Eric, standing up. She watched Imogen try to call him again. “Want me have Lauren go and see if he is at his office?” She questioned, looking over at the younger blonde. Granted she knew that having her wife go and look for her son in law might have been some abuse of power or something but still she didn’t like to see Imogen worry so much. It wasn’t good for her especially with everything she had been through. “I’ll call her, okay?”

You know it's all your fault. -A

-A was right, Brooke knew this. It was her fault, no matter what Lauren said. Her father’s death was her fault. She placed her phone into her pocket afterwards, looking down at her father’s grave. “I am so sorry, dad. For everything.” She regretted everything that she did. Especially since she was the one that probably caused his heart issue to begin. If she had been a normal kid, maybe he would be okay. He would still be alive.

Lauren wished that she could make everything better, take it all away and make her believe that this isn’t her fault. She took on too much guilt that she didn’t need to in Lauren’s opinion and she hated that. “Hey…” She reached out to brush away some tears, leaning in and kissing her gently before she nodded and moved over to her side of the car to get in. “A good sleep’ll do you the world of good, yeah?” Hopefully, she thought, as she started the car and set off towards home.

Brooke had plenty to feel guilty about. She had almost killed Imogen, and Noelle would have been better off not knowing her considering Cameron. And she was bond to mess up Daniel somehow. She had guilt for her father’s death and her mother slowly losing her mind. When she felt Lauren’s touch, she leaned into it before kissing her back gently. “I hope so.” She laid her head back on the head rest. “Thank you.”

“What? No. Of course you didn’t.” Lauren frowned, moving over to her again and shaking her head. “None of this is your fault… it could still have happened regardless. Okay?” Lauren was sure of that. “This is not your fault.” She stated again, wishing she could take it all away for her. Lauren grabbed the water and passed it to her. “Come on, baby, get in…”

Brooke wanted to believe her, but of course her mind was messing with her. She hadn’t taken her meds in a couple of days. And things just got louder and the blame that her own mind placed on her. “Yeah, okay.” She reached up and wiped away the tears. Brooke didn’t breakdown crying often. “Thank you.” She said this, after she took the water. Opening it up, she took a drink before nodding her head some. “Yeah, let’s get me home.” She got in when Lauren told her to.

Lauren shook her head. “No, hey..” She turned her face and kissed the side of Brooke’s head gently. “You’re a mess. I’m a mess. We’re all messes. And you’re my mess.” Yeah, she had a lot on her shoulders right now but she was handline it. She unlocked the car, watching Brooke lean against it. “You sure? I’ve got water in the car if you want some.”

Brooke closed her eyes when she felt Lauren’s lips against her head. She was lucky. She knew this. Lucky to have Lauren. But yet here she was probably going to screw it up somehow. She was good at that. “I love you, Lauren. I don’t want to screw this up. It’s just--did I cause this? With all the problems I gave him? If I had been a normal kid maybe things would be different.” And there it was. She felt guilty for what happened not like she would ever tell Imogen or her mother this. Nodding her head a little bit. “Yeah, I’m sure. Haven’t thrown up since I was a teen. Not going to start now. The water would be nice though.”

“Hey, no… you don’t have to apologise for anything. You’ve got a lot going on too.” Lauren shrugged, arm around her as they walked.

“I do though..you’ve got the town depending on you and you don’t need the added stress that is me. Mess of a human that is me.” Brooke was sure she was passed making sense but she wasn’t sure. Once they reached the car, she leaned against it for a moment. She wasn’t about to throw up, she hadn’t done that since she was a teen. “I’m fine. Just need everything to stop spinning.”

“Come on, baby…” She murmured, moving her hand out towards Brooke so she could lead her out to the car and get her home safe and sound.

Brooke leaned against her as they walked. “I’m sorry, baby for all of this. You’ve got so much going on. You don’t need to add me on top of it.”
