Doing my own fun little challenge, where I let the wheels decide the ship and trope mashup. Then I write a ficlet under 500 words for.

They had never been very good at staying apart.
Even back before… they’d started, there had been a draw between them. Even when they were part of separate organizations, they had always been aware of each other. A pair of stars, orbiting around each other, neither able to escape the other’s gravitational pull.
It had been part of the reason Caroline had agreed to the alliance between their families. A temporary cease fire that would stop the death, and all she had to do was marry him.
Caroline had fully intended to fuck him out of her system, and then, once the cease fire was done, she would divorce him and be over it all.
And that’s exactly what she had done.
Except… it hadn’t worked out that way. Sure, she had gotten the divorce. She had gone back to being his enemy. But she had very much been lying to herself, when she’d said she was over it all.
Because right now, she was holding the smoking gun that had just shot her father in the back of the head, staring at Klaus across his corpse.
“They’re probably going to blame me for that,” Klaus noted idly. His tie was loose around his neck, his hair a bit messy. He’d been drinking. Caroline knew, because she’d been watching him. She had been the one to tell her father where he would be.
He was the one she was supposed to have shot.
“It won’t really matter,” Caroline finally said, lowering the gun, knocking the safety into place. “I’m the only one he trained to take over. The only blood my family will spill, will be the blood I want spilled.”
“Hmm,” Klaus mused, carefully stepping around Bill’s body. Caroline appreciated that, that he didn’t disrespect the corpse in any way. He had been her father, after all. “And if it’s not my blood, Caroline, then what do you want?”
She wasn’t sure what she would say, but Klaus clearly didn’t care for an actual answer. Instead, he swept in, kissing her until she couldn’t breathe and her head felt light.
When they finally pulled apart, her hands were clutching at his hair, and his eyes were burning as he all but undressed her with his eyes.
And in that moment, she knew what she wanted.
“Marry me,” she said. “Again.”
She kissed his yes off of his lips.
