^^ Slight side note: When I was online dating I used to do what so many of us do; set up a safety check with a friend. I used to be really slick about it; take a restroom break or quietly/subtle check and answer a text. Then I realized what a good marker it was to check if I wanted to actually be on this date at all. So at whatever time check in was supposed to be, I would pull out my phone and say “sorry, I just have to let my friend know I’m good”. If someone was vaguely offended, I might stay depending on the convo we had after. If someone was SUPER offended, I said “this is exactly why. Thanks for meeting me, I’ve got to go.”  This happened three times I can remember and the first time my voice was shaking so bad as I said it because, you know. You never know what their response is going to be and he was so aggressively angry I was ending the date “over that”. 

The person I ended up with? “Ah, yay-I’m-not-murdered check. Good plan.” Then when my phone was buzzing later (because we ended up on a five hour date on a Monday night) he goes “you should probably let them know you’re still alive. Do you have to go?” 

 *No woman I was ever on a date with was mad about this. Not one. 

This is just like testing the breaks before driving an unfamiliar car guys, and you do NOT drive a car with no breaks. If they can’t handle “no,” it’s not safe for you to say, “yes,” and you need to gtfo of there so you don’t get run over.

.Some context for this:

-Fred Hampton was a black activist from Chicago – an extraordinary speaker, youth organizer for the NAACP. 

-He joined the Black Panthers and shone so brightly that he was made chair of the Chicago chapter when he was only 20.

-He founded the Rainbow Coalition, which brought together Black and Latino activists and radical anti-poverty Catholics.  He forged an alliance among major Chicago street gangs to help them make peace and work for social change.

-In 1967, when he was just 19, Hampton was identified by the FBI as a “radical threat.” The FBI tried to subvert his activities in Chicago, sowing disinformation to get the groups he’d drawn together to distrust each other, and getting an FBI plant next to him as a bodyguard.  

-(This is part of an illegal FBI program called COINTELPRO, which aimed to paint black civil rights activists (among others) as violent and threatening.  If you’ve only seen pictures of the Black Panthers as armed and dangerous revolutionaries, and never heard of their children’s breakfast program, their community health clinics, or their “copwatch” patrols, this is why.   It’s because COINTELPRO was a highly successful work of political propaganda.)  

-On December 3, 1969, Hampton taught a political education course at a local church, and then several Panthers gathered at his apartment for a late dinner.  One of them was the FBI plant bodyguard, who drugged Hampton.  

-At 4:45 AM on December 4, a squad of Chicago Police officers and FBI agents with a warrant to search for weapons stormed the apartment. Investigations later showed they fired between 90 and 99 times.  The Panther on security detail, Mark Clark, was holding a shotgun.  He was shot, and the gun went off into the ceiling.  This was the only shot fired by the Panthers. 

-Fred Hampton, in another room, didn’t awaken.  He was shot in his bed.  Twice, in the head, at point-blank range.  He was 21.  

-Four weeks after witnessing Hampton’s death, his finance Deborah Johnson gave birth to their son, Fred Hampton Jr.  That’s him in the photograph, visiting the grave of a father who died before he was born.  A resting place riddled with bullets.  

I see a bunch of posts like this and they all seem to assume there's a huge undercurrent of anti-Israeli sentiment in the general populace such that Biden would easily cruise to victory if he did the right thing, as opposed to the truth which is that the average voter sees Israel as a sort of Middle Eastern America under attack by strange foreigners and would take all but the most couched and careful opposition to Israel's actions as a betrayal.

For context, Columbia University calling in the cops to break up anti-Israel protests is overwhelmingly popular (Source).

This is mainly because Americans, even young Americans, don't actually care about Gaza. It consistently ranks as the one of the least important issues in polls (Source)

Meanwhile, one of Biden's worst issues is inflation. Why did inflation go up? Because Biden sent stimmy checks, cancelled hundreds of billions of student debt, invested hundreds of billions into renewable energy to fight climate change, etc. In other words, Biden's biggest political weakness is caused by the things he did that leftists would theoretically like. A big reason Democrats think they should move to the center is because they ask Americans and Americans complain they're too left-wing more than they complain Democrats aren't left-wing enough.

And, you want to know the real bitch of it?

A lot of that is leftists' own fucking fault.

When Biden cancelled student debts, leftists said it sucked.

When Biden ended the war in Afghanistan (the most unpopular decision he's made by far, and the one that dropped his poll numbers 5 points permanently), Leftists didn't even acknowledge it.

When Biden sent stimulus checks, Leftists were mad that it was $1400 and then $600 and normies were mad it caused inflation. Everyone was mad at Biden for it! From a perspective of pure self-interest, it was a mistake for him to do it!

When Biden included a child tax credit that served as a mini-UBI to parents and cut child poverty in half, leftists didn't praise it, it was unpopular, and Joe Manchin kept it from being renewed.

Even on fucking Gaza, after months of protests that Biden should stop sending weapons to Israel, Biden today announced that if Israel invades Rafah he weill stop sending weapons to Israel. Leftists didn't even notice.

If Biden does, in fact, stop all weapon shipments to Israel this week, will any of the people calling him Genocide Joe go "Wow! We won! Thanks, Biden, I guess I will vote for you!". Will Biden turning anti-Israel win him a SINGLE leftist vote, to make up for even one of all the pro-Israel votes he'll lose? No. Of course not. You can't even fucking pretend, it's ludicrous. The only people who will notice Biden stopping weapon shipments to Israel are the pro-Israel people who'll be mad at him over it.

So, yeah, no shit the American people don't like Democrats doing leftist things. Whenever Democrats do anything even slightly leftist, conservatives say it sucks, moderates say it sucks, and leftists say it sucks. Everyone says Democrats suck when they do left-wing things! Except liberals, but they spend most of their time trying to defend Biden to leftists online, which is maybe a lost cause. Is it any fucking wonder those things are unpopular? It's a miracle Biden's been as left-wing as he's been, and if he loses in 2024 he'll be the most left-wing president in any of our lifetimes because I promise you no Democrat will make that mistake again.

Off topic but interesting little fact:

This show ran for 20 episode and the last 9-11 or so are lost media. CN did their best to wipe it off the face of the earth. Some episodes are only available in various languages but not in English. And like I said others aren't available at all as far as anyone knows.
