Common Misconceptions About The Signs and Why They’re Wrong

1. Aries:

Aries is noted for being a tenacious go getter, easily working their way through social situations in order to climb the ladder of success. Though this is true to an extent, Aries has a complex mind and needs a certain amount of solitude in order to keep their daily routine stable.

2. Taurus:

Taurus has a stereotype of being self centered- although concerning the ones they love this couldn’t be farther from the truth. They will stubbornly do everything they can to help a loved one, even if it requires a certain amount of self sacrifice.

3. Gemini:

Gemini folk have a reputation of being detached or unaffected by romantic woes- however when betrayed or hurt during a relationship their reaction can be somewhat similar to the water sign Scorpio, which is different than them in almost every way besides the urge to be destructive when scorned.

4. Cancer:

Cancers are known for being soft hearted and docile. This theory has no truth to it when someone takes Cancers kindness for granted or uses them. A Cancer will not forgive or forget that sort of disregard- and can in fact become quite ruthless if something provokes them enough to irateness.

5. Leo:

Leo people are said to be extremely self-absorbed and prideful. While this may be true for many of them early on in life, the transform as they get older into quite humble- or even charitable human beings.

Why you may not know your true sign:

The general focus in Astrology tends to be placed on your Star Sign, but for many people this is not an accurate representation of themselves.

What you may not realize is that the placement of all the heavenly bodies influence your personality in complex ways. You not only have a Star Sign but a Moon Sign, a Rising/Ascendant Sign and the placement of each planet shows how you function. You have to consider the whole of the Solar System.

The Planets represent certain parts of our being or life: Venus - love, Mars - anger, etc. The Signs represent the way you go about things or the way in which we express the parts of our being or life: Capricorn - focused, hard working, arrogant, Gemini - versatile, quick, manipulative, etc. The Houses represent different fields of experience wherein the energies of the signs and planets apply as described in terms of experiences and surroundings: 1st House, the House of Self and associated with Aries, interpreted as first impressions and traits; 6th House, the House of Health, associated with Virgo, interpreted as routine tasks and duties as well as acquired skills.

The rulers are determined by what signs fall on the cusps of the house, but the natural rulers (such as Aries for the 1st House) will still have an influence; consider them co-rulers.

So, for example: We have two Cancers, both born in the same month, yet one’s Cancer Sign is in the 2nd House while the other is in the 7th. Their traits as a Cancer will then apply to their lives in completely different ways. The 2nd House is the house of self-esteem, money, and what we value, so a 2nd House Cancer may value emotions and their finances may be intertwined with emotions - as in a social worker, psychologist, etc. The 7th House is the house of partnerships such as marriage, business relationships, and even enemies, making a 7th House Cancer tied closely to their spouse emotionally and their friends a part of their family. So you can see that this makes for some big differences.

This is all key when you want to know about compatibility and the like.

Now, why you truly might not know your sign.

A lot of people, though they are a Leo or a Pisces etc, don’t feel connected to their Sun Sign or interpretations of their Sign.

This may be because of the Houses, but also because of the Planets.

You could be a Leo but Venus was in Virgo at your birth so instead of being a partner who is overtly romantic or wants to be a knight in shining armor, you are more shy or frightened by overt romance and patient about love.

Not to mention your Dominant Sign. I have heard many say they feel more connected to this Sign than their Star Sign, which is understandable - its influence can be seen in so many parts of your life. This is a truly important sign. More often I see that your Star Sign and Dominant Sign blend together, so it still remains key to fully understanding your Zodiac.

So, you could be a person with a Gemini Star Sign yet you feel little to no connection with Gemini - then you find that at your birth Venus, Mercury, and Saturn were all in Capricorn. Well, there you have it! Your dominant sign.

The point, it is important to know your full Astrology Chart, especially when seeking answers from the stars. So go get it, people.

I wrote this forever ago and have grown as an astrologer so there’s a lot I’d like to add:

Your Dominant Element is also extremely important! I know this from personal experience as a Capricorn dominated by Air. While your Sun Sign may be of one Element, you can feel completely disconnected from it!

Your Dominant Planet can be a huge influence on your life and personality! Pay close attention to your Dominant Planet and see them as a patron, of sorts. Take note of its position and movements. Learn about it, acknowledge it, even respect it.

Your Dominant Mode is also key! Very, very few people take note of this but it’s still extremely influential!

Astrology is a remarkably complex science. To understand the influence of the heavens on a person you must understand not only the placement of each heavenly body but how they relate to each other! Their aspects such as oppositions and conjunctions can change how they function! Retrogrades, trines, stellia…

Many write off astrology due to a lack of understanding of its complexity or feeling as if they can’t relate to it but it’s often due to only hearing of Sun Signs.

I encourage everyone to explore their natal charts and learn about astrology. While it is complex it’s not difficult to understand. It’s like a puzzle and it can be not only enjoyable but fulfilling to put the pieces together.

The signs in a bad mood

Aries: Really angry and always feel like they wanna punch someone or something. They also get annoyed at everything, even furniture. But all they want is someone they can talk to to calm them down. Ironically, they also want to be left alone. They can be sensitive and they don’t care if people don’t like it because they’re too angry to. If they’re extremely mad they’d probably start crying out of frustration. They don’t always know how to deal with their emotions. 

Taurus: They get annoyed even by the sounds of people. Sometimes they get ticked off to the point of wanting to cry because of frustration but they hate it because they don’t want people to see them as weak and because it’s a humiliating feeling. They’ll speak their mind if needed. They never forget things that make them mad so if you pissed them off five years ago they’ll remember it now. 

Gemini: They are detached, and every attempt at a conversation turns into a debate and passive aggressive. They are either extremely open about it or completely ignores why they’re annoyed because they’re not really the type to try and get revenge just because they had a small burst of irritability. They may cry if they’re under enough stress already but they won’t tell anyone they did unless they’re very close. They are blatantly unamused or may be distant in social situations if they can’t get their mind away from it quickly. 

Cancer: They don’t like to get angry so they keep their frustrations to themselves until they it’s too much and they explode. Usually they yell and they get very passive aggressive when that happens. After they get it all out they start to cry if they’re that frustrated. If not, they’ll just be snappy and rude. And then they start to ignore you. They’re also very moody people. 

Leo: When Leos are mad, everything you do annoys them. There’s only some people who can calm them down. You can tell when they’re in a bad mood because they don’t talk or laugh at all and that’s what they usually do then they’re happy. They’re stubborn so it takes a lot for them to be happy again when they’re unhappy so it’s best to just leave them alone because they’ll probably lash out at you, which is not exactly the best thing for you. 

Virgo: In a bad mood, Virgos glare at everything that comes their way. They are high strung and won’t talk about why they’re upset unless they’re asked. They will be quieter than usual. They also like to ignore people. They are distant, they’re not talkative, smiley, or laughing but they’re more sarcastic than usual. 

Libra: Don’t make Libras them repeat themselves when they’re angry. Don’t ask them useless questions. They will ignore you if you keep trying to have a conversation with them or they won’t bother with giving long answers. They just shrug their shoulders or shake their head. They want everyone to go away but feels lonely when they do. They get really snappy. They can also get kind of loud and aggressive. 

Scorpio: When Scorpios are upset, they are always irritated. The littlest things bug them but they’re also slightly emotional so they cry when they’re frustrated and they absolutely hate it. They also passive aggressive as hell. Sometimes aggressively passive aggressive. Do not mess with them because they will not hold back. You’ve been warned. But they will not stay angry for long because they get over things quickly but the longer you drag it on the longer it takes for them to get over it. They like to rant out their frustrations to a friend or two but if they don’t show interest it makes them feel worthless and lonely. Their answers also get very boring and are even more sarcastic than usual. They’re very moody people. They like to be alone when they are angry or at least with someone they trust. But they won’t talk about it with anyone else. 

Sagittarius: They get angry but they usually try to suppress their feelings. They don’t forget about it though. They can get very aggressive and will want to fight everyone and everything. They get irritated by the smallest things and they just want to ignore everyone. They can get sarcastic as well and their attitude will change drastically. They just want everyone to leave them alone. 

Capricorn: Capricorns take their anger off innocent people and blame them. They don’t want to be talked to and get annoyed extremely easily. The little things bother them and they can’t get snappy. They act like they want to be alone but they really don’t. They ignore people and don’t show they’re mad but really they’re just internally screaming at you. They keep things bottled up and are selective of what they show you. 

Aquarius: They’re ready to murder anyone that gets in their way. They get violent and will lash out on you if you bother them or get in their personal space. They don’t know what to do with their emotions since they bottle up their emotions so they might get emotional. You can expect silent treatment and they want to be left alone. 

Pisces: They don’t usually get mad or irritated but when they do they think very deeply about the situation. They need their space to think and calm down. They forgive but never forget. They get annoyed by the smallest things and are really sarcastic. They learn to hold in their tears after a while but sometimes they burst into tears if it gets to be too much.

To add a bit of context astrologically, I think the reason Pisces are very much hell or heaven is because they’re not only a water sign, but ruled by the 12th house and one of the helper sisters. Water is an emotional element, and Pisces itself is an empathetic and deep sign. Being ruled by 12th, some of them may find it hard to show this or may hide that emotional side more frequently. So when it finally comes out, it may be from them “bursting”, so it’ll be expressed quite negatively. Being ruled by 12th, you can begin to associate a certain sense of in denial with Pisces. Something is wrong? Something they did was bad? They’ll probably ignore this and retreat to an inner bubble. Lastly, being one of the “helpful sisters” (as you could describe them), they also feel the need to put others first constantly in any situation, even if that’s the most harmful thing to do. They are sometimes blinded by a sense of righteousness and “do good”, or a sense of in denial and emotional secrecy. In shorter words, a Pisces will be your hell or heaven depending on how they deal with situations and the astrological ties of Pisces.
