Heaven’s Final Betrayal (6/6)

Fic Summary: It was obvious that Heaven wouldn’t exactly be thrilled about Aziraphale’s role in preventing Armageddon. But neither the angel nor Crowley could have predicted how far they were willing to go to get revenge, and now Aziraphale needs him by his side more than ever.

When was the last time he turned the page? Crowley thought suddenly.

He uncoiled himself gently from where he had been resting, in his serpent form, across Aziraphale’s shoulders while the angel sat in his favourite armchair, reading. Or at least, Crowley thought he had been reading. It was hard not to drift off when he was in this shape, and his angel’s body was so warm and soft underneath his scales, with no noises but the regular murmur of Aziraphale’s breaths and the swish of the pages turning filling the air. But even in his dozy state, it seemed to have been a long time since he’d heard that page turn, or felt Aziraphale’s shoulders roll underneath him with the movement.

He stilled for a moment, loosely stretched out across the angel’s back, and tried to feel for the pattern of Aziraphale’s breaths. It was hard to tell, but they seemed quicker than before.

Worry beginning to bite at him, Crowley slithered down from the back of the chair to the floor, and quickly transformed back into his human form, moving round to kneel in front of Aziraphale’s line of vision.

“Angel?” he asked carefully.

Slowly, Aziraphale looked up from the book at him.

“Are you ok?” Crowley said.

Aziraphale blinked, and then raised a slight smile. "I'm fine," he replied.

Crowley raked his gaze over the angel’s face. Glassy, distant eyes. Vacant expression. The way he seemed to have already forgotten about the book in his lap - if he’d been reading it at all, rather than just staring at it. Crowley knew the signs by now.

"I don't think you are," Crowley said softly.

Crowley has some bad (and repressed) memories of some of his time down under, and Aziraphale wants to help when he finds out. I struggled a bit with the rating here- there are no graphic descriptions of non-con (nothings even actually stated, really), but it is implied that it might've happened in the graphic descriptions of torture. I'm not sure that it warranted that tag, but I decided to play it safe and include it.

Gabriel likes to use Aziraphale to work out pent out frustration and anger, often leaving the Principality bloody, bruised and psychologically scarred.

We all know never* to play 'is there any way in which I would ever actually write that trope/ship/etc. that I don't really like' because you will come up with a way and then want to write it, but

I was just wondering what Aziraphale thinks of people justifying their homophobia with Christianity? I personally, am gay and religious so I think they take out of context to be hateful. But is Heaven homophobic in the Good Omens universe? If it is I won’t be offended as it’s your story and it’s already made clear that Heaven gets a lot of things wrong in the Good Omens universe (as Does Hell).

Well, Heaven definitely smote Sodom and Gomorrah. But people are still arguing over what the actual crimes of Sodom and Gomorrah were.

I'm not sure that anyone in Heaven except possibly Sandalphon, is clear enough on the mechanics of human reproduction or recreation actually to care or even to notice.
