“You couldn’t have learned how to shut your trap?” There are plenty of things that Seungjae dislikes — he is, in general, a fussy person — but being shown up places quite highly on the list, even when he has confidence in his own actions. “It’s not about how good a means of defence is, it’s about the person using it.” This, in Seungjae’s own view, should be dreadfully common knowledge. An agent who lacks resourcefulness is a dead one; it was one of the very first lesson they taught him. If you cannot make good use of the things around you in times of need, how is anybody to make good use of you?
His grip around his makeshift weaponry --- a few coils of rope tied around a rotting fence post --- tightens and he slips past Kain, taking care not to brush against him for even a moment. Physical contact is not Seungjae’s scene to begin with but, as tempting as it sometimes was to shove someone in a fit of petty pique, he has more pride than that. More dignity. Outside opinion doesn’t matter to him right now, he’s quite pleased with how quickly he’d pulled himself together. On its own, an old piece of wood is hardly threatening but, used with enough force, Seungjae thinks he has a fairly decent flail on his hands. i ended up deleting my old starter call bc some of the blogs were no longer active and i didn’t want to risk writing starters for ppl who might have lost interest since then. please consider this post the official replacement! like this post if you’d like a starter! and i’ll definitely do them this time because i want to work hard on revamping this blog!

“You sound like a man with a death wish", he said, the words rolling off his tongue with practised ease, as though there is no manner of shock to be found in flirting with apparent death. “Has anybody ever told you that?”
Whether or not it is a compliment isn’t clear and, frankly, Seungjae doesn’t know what he’d meant. He’d encountered enough reckless people in his life for any can-do attitudes to feel commonplace and, increasingly, those happier to worm out of danger, nursing only their own self-serving egos disgusted him. In his work, the threat of great risk was ever-present, lingering over him like a great shadow, but he could never act without calculating his every move, without his brain kicking into total overdrive trying to make sense of his plans. Over the years, he found himself frustrated with and impressed by the devil-may-care types in equal volume.
“You propose we keep going because it’s stupid? Or is it in spite of that fact?” Seungjae asks, pointlessly. There’s no supposing it’d make much of a difference either way. It’s a daft errand, something to fill time and make the undercover job more convincing. “I hope it’s the first one; trust me, it’s not going to start making any more sense than this.”

“Maybe that’s a good thing. They’re more trouble than they’re worth.” Life was a lot harder when you spend as much time having to dodge bullets as he did. “They’re dangerous. And getting shot hurts. I’d imagine.” Seungjae’d never been shot before. If his job allowed the luxury of revelation, it would be something about which he’d brag. He watched her handle his pistol, finding that he couldn’t recall quite why he had offered it to her for inspection in the first place. It was easy to imagine that she was the sort of woman who convince a person to do utterly anything if she had the will in her to do it. So, maybe, giving her gun was a rotten idea, he thought, especially if she doesn’t know how to use the damn thing. With a resigned sigh, Seungjae pulls another, identical pistol from his bag. No explanations provided, no room for questions allowed. “But, if you’re really that interested, I suppose I could teach you the basics”, he offers, “Although I’m a terrible teacher. I assure you.”

might fuck around n just uhhhh?? reboot this blog! move to a new blog and everything! but i also might not, this is NOT a very official post; i’ve done the reboot & move thing with an oc a couple times before before and i don’t think it actually helped ): but this blog feels super disorganised bc i kept dipping in and out of activity & it’s next to dead most of time! hooooowever, i’m going to give it one more good crack and work on the starters i owe! either way, i’ll finally get around to writing up his proper bio soon. this blog is two years old now so it’s kiiiiind of ridiculous that the only bio seungjae has is a brief explanation post. please look out for that! i DO miss seungjae so i want to get back to writing him quickly!

“Hello, could I have just a moment of your time?” Mundane undercover had never been something he enjoyed much. It was a necessary evil, they would remind him, but Seungjae liked to think he’d be much better off if he were allowed to avoid evil altogether. The smile he wore passed for genuine well enough but it was the awkwardly tight grip on the thick bundle of leaflets he was holding out gave him away. He had the sense to know this was a bold and terrible idea but he was holding onto the simple hope that, should his acting be convincing enough to sell the story, he might just pass as some young, over-ambitious hopeful with more pep and confidence than manners. “We’re doing a sort of, uh, survey. For the neighbourhood.” A pause is left, all for dramatic effect, as he narrows his eyes and drops his voice to a stage whisper. “Y’know, for the people.” / @emugis
