the jet was full of all her colleagues, the team wasn’t really paying attention when you sat beside her so you could continue a conversation with steve, who was sitting right across from her.

they knew the two of you were dating, which is shocking to them all, considering how stoic and unfeeling nat can usually be.

you were the opposite, you were the eptiome of sunshine personified.

though they do say opposites attract.

they couldn’t imagine nat in a relationship with someone who felt so much, with her, who seemed to feel so little.

she was so grumpy all the time, and whilst she had her friendly moments, they expected her to hate someone like you, someone so hyper— so kind, so bright. so not her.

though when you grab her hand and you don’t immediately get a punch in the face, and they see that admirable glint in her eye as she looks at your joint hands, albeit her brows are still furrowed and her lips in her usual scowl— the eyes never lie.

steve is immediately cooing at the two of you, dropping her momentary ease, bringing back her hard look, she sends him a glare, huffing and glancing out the plane window trying not to allow herself to fluster.

she doesn’t let go of your hand though.

even if everyone noticed.

she didn’t want to let go.

her glare doesn’t get to the other members of the team either, as they begin to join in on the teasing too.

her cheeks flush and she desperately tries hard to keep her composure, rolling her eyes angrily.

the only thing keeping her calm is the stroke of your thumb on her hand, and the gentle reassurance of your presence beside her.

and while she wasn’t really good at expressing her emotions, or public displays of affection. she knew one thing, that she was sure she was in love with you.
