Here's my contribution to the MAYnananggal trend. The flowers on her belt are Sampaguita (the Philippine's national flower) and Gumamela (Hibiscus). The top she's wearing is actually a call to the bomber jackets @/jorel.espina (instagram) creates which are inspired by Philippine traditional clothes like the Barong and Filipiniana. "Being a modern Filipina isn’t easy. Being a modern working Filipina Mananaggal? Even more so. When you’re trying to catch the LRT home during rush hour while making sure you don’t dislocate yourself like last time, it can be a grueling task. Even getting something to eat has become taxing as you now have to adhere to societal norms and morals. Back then, you could just climb onto any sorry sod’s roof and cherry-pick a heart or two. I wonder how long Dinuguan and Betamax skewers can sate these cravings. Oh, how I miss the old days."
