We have to remember that with every day that passes without a ceasefire, more people are being murdered in Palestine. I know it's tempting to shut down! Or brains aren't designed to process this much suffering and pain for long periods of time. But we have to make a conscious, intentional effort to keep paying attention, keep sharing news from voices on the ground, and keep calling for Palestinian justice and freedom. Please don't fall into apathy!

After getting over the initial shock and heartbreak of this tweet and this reply, it hit me that (and I don't know if this is a cultural thing here in the middle east or an Islamic one)

A child has to be named even if they're stillborn.

For a child to not be named, that means there's no one left to name them. They were killed along with their entire family.

I hoped I was wrong, but I checked the list of victims of Israeli attacks and found this:

Israel has ended 47 Palestinian bloodlines over the course of this genocide (or perhaps more), so you might think that this little detail isn't that important, but I don't think we should get used to cruelty of this proportion, no matter how consistently Israel commits it.

I can't stop thinking about the news out of Palestine. Israel is sieging al Shifa hospital. Videos of people's limbs being severed off are haunting (graphic video tw). The hospital has ran out of fuel and 39 babies in incubators are fending for their lives by themselves, because Israel has stationed snipers around the hospital and is shooting all medical crew that walks into their sight.

First, the narrative was Israel would never bomb hospitals. Now, the hospitals are Hamas bases. Then, we respect journalists. Now, we have a fucking kill list of journalists because they are Hamas collaborators. First, we are not letting fuel in until the hostages are released. Now, we are not accepting the hostages back because that would stop our ground invasion and let Hamas win. And I could go on about every single lie they're making up. If you look up "Hamas rape" on google, the first link leads to Times of Israel saying Israel has found no forensic evidence of sexual violence, and only one eyewitness testimony out of 3.5k people attending the rave. If you Google "Hamas beheaded babies" the top links say they have no evidence for the claim besides word of mouth from extremist soldiers. Israeli extremists think about the ugliest goriest scene they can make out in their sick heads, tell that to a international journalist and they run away with it like it's gospel.

And children are being killed in the name of these lies. Thousands are being displaced in images that remind me of the pictures of Tantura 75 years ago, with their hands up so the tanks don't shoot them. Amputees are leaving the hospitals in wheelchairs hours after their surgeries because they are being shot at. Elders who survived the Nakba on 48 are having to walk towards Southern Gaza on foot (imagine walking from one end of your city to the other on foot), displaced again. People are cheering for the haunting images of white phosphorus bombs being dropped over Gaza. Gazan workers who were arrested in the West Bank are being thrust back into the bombings wearing numbered labels.

This is not normal. We are seeing the early stages of the settler colonial genocide of an indigenous population. Native leaders who have visited Gaza say its refugee camps look eerily like reservations. We can stop this. For the first time we are able to see wide scale accounts from the hands of the people suffering the genocide, and Israel is so scared of it they have cut all communications in Gaza.

This is our litmus test. I think we have never seen more clearly, with Palestine, Armenia, Congo and Sudan how colonialism has made our world a rotten place to live in.

The South African apartheid collapsed due to boycotts. We have to do everything in our power to stop Israel's hegemony. Even talking to a group of friends about Palestine changes the status quo. There's no world where we can live peacefully if Israel accomplishes their goals.

Massive fuck you to everyone who is talking about Palestinians as if we’re already all dead and sharing more solidarity with our corpses than us living. “We will never forget the beautiful Palestinian people-“ how about you stop “making peace” with Palestinian extermination. My people are not going to be forgotten because we are going to live. Palestinians have already survived one genocide and have been surviving one ever since.

Do not ever let the idea that all Palestinians are going to die exist in your mind. Mourn the dead, fight like hell for the living.

jj stared a her from across the country club, jaw clenched seeing his arms around her. angrily tossing dishes into the black buss tray. he couldn’t peel his eyes away seeing her laugh and snuggle close to the blonde.

her eyes met his for just a moment, within a blink of his eye she was looking back at topper. her looks were like poison calling his name, begging for him to come steal her away. make her his again. but he couldn’t.

jj yanked his tray up, a loud clatter of the dishes made people look over. his eyes never left their table. shaking his head he looked away, hurrying off inside the club building.

y/n frowned. toppers eyes followed as the pogue disappeared into the building, pulling her closer to him. him and his friends laughed at the blonde headed boy.

amongst the laughter and rude jokes her boyfriend and his friends made, y/n’s mind wondered back to that night. the night she poured her heart out.

it was late at night, the pair had spent the day at the beach while the pogues were off doing god knows what. relaxing and surfing, now sitting in the soft sand under the stars, both of them soaking wet from the oceans salty water. jj had his head on y/n’s lap, eyes peacefully shut as she played with his hair.

the girl looked at him with the softest smile, a tight ping in her chest, a nervous feeling in her stomach, and the ache of not wanting to move from this very spot ever. was this what love feels like? she asked herself. her eyes darted over the boys face, she never wanted to leave. she’s never going to, that’s her promise. she’s never going to leave.

“jayj?” she whispered, her fingers running through his hair. “hmm,” he hummed.

y/n bit her lip. the nervous feeling traveled up her throat, hanging there caught in a lump. “I…I think I love you.”

his eyes shot open and he quickly sat up. hands gripping the blanket that was under them. when he didn’t answer the girl looked at him, concerned she did something wrong. scared he didnt love her. “jj, say something please.” her voice sounded as if it was far out, beyond the crashing waves of the sea.

a hand landed on his shoulder, “jj…are you okay?”

he looked over, eyes wide and nodding frantically. “yeah…yeah I’m fine. I just…I gotta go.”

“what?”

jj stood up, looking around for his things. “I have to go, I’m sorry.” he muttered as the girl stared at him, the pale moonlight catching her glossy eyes and quivering lip. the pogue took in a deep breath, shaking his head as he grabbed his backpack.

“jj why are you doing this?” the girls voice cracked, he froze looking down at her. his lips parted as he tried to find the answer. “did I do something? do you not love me?” she whispered now gazing up at him.

“y/n…don’t,” he replied quietly. “don’t cry.”

she laughed, “don’t cry? really jj? I just told you I love you and you’re leaving, and you don’t want me to cry?”

“that’s not what I meant.”

“then what did you mean?”

y/n now stood in front of him, his eyes never meeting hers. “please tell me what’s wrong, we can figure it out. If you’re not ready tell me that.” his lips rolled together, his eyes closed as his head dropped. he did love her, but what they have—it’s not gonna last. not with who he is.

y/n’s hands moved up and cupped his face, making him look at her. “jayj, you don’t have to say it if you’re not ready. I’m not going to go anywhere if you don’t.”

“we can’t do this.” he blurted out. her face dropped as his hand grabbed her wrist slowly moving her hands away. “I’m not good for you, you have a whole future ahead of you. now look at me and tell me I have one. you cant, because I don’t. my future is behind bars.”

“jj…”

“no, y/n I’m not good enough for you. I never will be.” he swallowed thickly. “you’ll be living in figure eight while I’m in a run down hole-in-the-wall. I cant..I can’t hold you back.”

“you’re not holding anyone back jj,” she cried. “please.”

jj shook his head, he didn’t say a single word backing away from the girl. she didn’t try to go after him, she didn’t beg him to stay. she sobbed though, hands covering her mouth to muffle her cries as she turned her back to the boy as he walked away. not from her but from them, everything they ever had was gone.

jj knew it was wrong, leaving her there heartbroken thinking he didn’t love her. but he did. he loved her so fucking much it hurt. she was all he every thought about. when he woke up it was her. when he went to bed it was her. It was always y/n l/n. if he could do it all again. he would’ve said I love you. he could’ve stayed. he should’ve because now she’s gone.

While I absolutely adore the new Dreamworks logo and it’s cute references, there is a certain thing that makes me salty;

That being, out of all of Tom McGrath’s creations they could’ve picked to add in, they choose to go with Boss Baby.

Now fairly, not all of Dreamworks masterpieces were featured in the logo. And although the sequel was better, I don’t consider Trolls a masterpiece of theirs either.

But I think… Madagascar is way more deserving of a spot. At least a little penguins reference. They could’ve easily fit in too.

And to those who aren’t fans of the Madagascar series, that’s valid, but then consider this:

They choose Boss Baby… over Megamind.

Megamind got moved aside for Alec Baldwin Baby.
